Name _______________________________________ Biome Research Project Objective: The goal of this project is for students to become a classroom “expert” in their chosen biome. Students will create a research project (explained below) that will teach others about their biome. Students will research a biome and choose a method of informing the rest of the class about their biome. Presentation options are listed below. All groups and presentation ideas must be approved before continuing. 1. Prezi Presentation 2. “Tri-fold” Display (like a science fair project) 3. Travel Brochure “selling” your biome to tourists 4. Written research paper (multi-paragraph with or without pictures) 5. Video Presentation (outline, “script” approved) or music video (w/ original lyrics) 6. Write a Children’s Book or comic book explaining your biome 7. Create a website dedicated to your biome (Weebly.com) 8. Create a board game about ALL the biomes 9. Have another idea? See me! I’m open to hear new ideas! Biomes to choose from: Rainforest Biomes (tropical and temperate) Desert Grasslands Deciduous Forest Boreal Forest (Taiga) Tundra Mountains/Ice Freshwater (ponds, lakes, streams, rivers) Marine (Intertidal, Neritic, Surface, Deep) Caution: For this project you may work individually or in a group of 2 or 3. Be VERY cautious of whom you choose to work with! Good friends don’t always make good partners! Grade leeches are out there… think hard before finalizing a group. Timeline: Students will have 4 days in class of work time for the project. During class, you will have access to computers, art supplies, and other resources. Completing this project to a satisfactory level may require work outside of school. The final project will be due by Thursday, 12/11. Rubric: Don’t be intimidated by the rubric! A rubric is designed to help you make sure the project meets all requirements before you turn it in. By being very detailed, you know EXACLTY what I am looking for when you turn the project in!
