• Aims to build global nursing capacity to respond to the growing challenge of TB and MDR-TB by– Training nurse trainers– Developing practical teaching and
learning materials– Advocacy and representation
Training of trainers (TOT)Training of trainers (TOT)
• In collaboration with National Nurses Associations in 18 countries with high TB/MDR-TB burden by end 2011
• Over 850 nurses trained as trainers in 14 countries to date
• 18000 nurses and allied health workers have so far received training from these trainers

• Are the first point of call for people with symptoms
• Are exposed to resistant TB where no treatment available and infection control is ineffective
• Are crucial to planning and implementation of effective infection control
