The Spansih 16 year old was playing on the computer in his bed- room when out of the corner of his eye he saw a fireball whizz past the window, he ran down to the gar- den in blackford avenue, Sparkhill, where he discovered an unusual looking rock. It was the size of his hand and covered in holes. “I tried to touch it but it was very hot so I ran backinto the kitchen to fetch the tongs,” said Pablo. “I put it in some cold water and straight away the water went hot.” “It’s very strange. I have never seen anything like it in my life and it wasn’t in the garden before.” The keen astronomer studied the rock snd looked up its structure on the internet. “I think it’s a meteorite,” he said. “I know from listening to spacemen that meteorite look bro- ken and their surfaceis full of pores - just like this one.” Pablo, who moved from Madrid to his grandmothers house to prac- tise his English, is a sports student at Solihull College. He said he was “really excited” to find the moon rock. “I’m very interested in astronomy. I never thought I should be so lucky as to find a meteorite” he said Meteorologist John Wright from the university of Birmingham said it was “very likely” that the rock fell from outer space. “The earth’s orbit has been pass- ing through a cloud of meteorites in the last few weeks so I’m not surprised,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of people witnessing shooting stars . If it is a meteorite it will be very dark and heavy.” Pablo Santos will now be travel- ling to america to see some of Na- sas top space scientists, they will confirm if the rock is from the moon or just a normal earth rock. Rocked By A Meteorite

Stargazing student Pablo San-tos had a wish come true when what he believes to be a meteorite landed in his grandmothers back garden.The Spansih 16 year old was

House prices in Birmingham have risen again to an all time high. Birmingham city council chiefs have said that they are ‘trying their best’ to sort out the mess that the credit crunch has put Birmingham economy in. New home buyers are the worst

victims in this because of the in-creasing rise of the prices. Jessica and her partner Alex told

us that they are expecting a baby in January next year, but because of this rise they can’t afford to buy a house for their first child.They both have stable jobs with a

reasonable income but still this is not enough to buy a property, they

have tried to take out a mortgage but many companies have denied them because they are new to the housing market.Enterprise newspaper was not

impressed by the response Wool-wich gave the couple, so we rang up Woolwich to see if they had a response.They said ‘we are very sorry that

we could not offer Jessica and Alex a mortgage, the reason we denied them is because they didn’t fit the criteria needed for new home buy-ers. The criteria that they failed on were the fact that we felt that they would not be able to cope with the payments.

Charlie Cooper from Birming-ham city council said yesterday that they looking into this case and said they are trying to get the cou-ple into a new private house with three bedrooms.He also said he was extremely

disgusted at the manor the couple had been treated and rejected by the company which is meant there to help new home owners.Mr Cooper went on to state that

there are many other people being treated like this and indicated that government needs to stop in and help the people who want to start a family and buy a nice home to start their family life.

House Prices Rise Again In Birmingham...

Birmingham Car Crash TraumaA Mother and her two young children were among five people injured in a serious car crash in the Midlands.The family’s car collided with another vehicle on the Per-shore Road near Cannon Hill Park, in Birmingham, just before 1.45pm yesterday.The mother was airlifted to Birmingham City Hospital, with a chest injury and sus-pected broken ankle.Her four-year-old son suf-fered minor shoulder, head and arm injuries in the col-lision and a toddler was treated for shock.A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Both were treated at the scene before being taken to the same hospital to be with their mum.”An elderly woman passenger in the second car, was said to be “serious” with a broken wrist and chest pain.The driver of the second car, a woman in her 30s, was treated for shoulder and chest pain. Both were taken to the Selly Oak Hospital.

The dance group have been a fan favourite to win the show since the live shows started. Birmingham Xmas Market RobberyA shocking robbery in Bir-mingham has happend. Last night at around ten o’clock five hoodlums ram raided a arts and crafts stool of it mon-ey and ran off. The stewards on hand tried to chase the youths but failed to stop them. The police have been study-ing CCTV footage of the crime for several hours. The youths are aged around seventeen and twenty. The amount of money robbed is about one thousand pounds. The police are doing an interview today at 12.30 to the press to reveal the facts about the robbery. Elano the stalls manager is in hospital because of shock that the robbery has caused him. The German market will be shut for at least two nights.

Police are investigating after a gun was fired at a the Long-bridge train station.Armed officers were called to

a “disturbance” at the Long-bridge train station on Long-bridge Lane, Birmingham, at around 7.15pm on Tuesday.A spokesman for West Mid-

lands Police said at least one shot was fired after “several males” were leaving the train station, but no-one was in-jured.Detective Chief Inspector

Stephen McBride said: “We do not believe that robbery was the motive here or that this was a random incident.“At this stage the weapon has

not been recovered but there is no information to suggest that

members of the wider public are in any danger and I want to reassure them that they are safe to go about their normal business.“We do need to talk to anyone

who was in the Longbridge Lane area of Birmingham at the relevant time last night who may have heard anything or seen any people or vehicles in suspicious circumstances.”The train services at the Long-

bridge train station has tempo-rally been suspended due to the full police investigation at the train station.Centro said due to the closure

buses will be put into service Anyone with information is
