Introduction iPad Client for OS 2200 BIS 49 and Open BIS 13

• Plans for a mobile client in BIS 49 and 13 release include the following features *

– Interactive, customizable menus for organizing applications and data

– Newly designed interfaces for administering BIS

– New applications for developing mobile forms that interact with BIS and utilizes the iPad’s hardware

– New display for BIS reports making editing a breeze

Customize, Organize, and Deploy

• One of the driving forces behind this new client is the ability to create custom menus for organizing and distributing your in-house applications and data

• With these custom menus you will be able to:

– Add branding with your own logos and colors

– Attach applications and data directories from your database to shortcut ‘tiles’ within your menu for execution

• Applications include ICE services, mobile forms, and mobile dashboards

• Data directories are parts of your database that users can access

– Distribute messages and/or news feeds to your users

Custom menus

• Add services and applications to “tiles” for executing

• Customize by adding images and changing colors

• Create menus for groups of users or for individual users

• Communicate with users through news feeds or custom messages



Administration is getting a face lift

• Administer your BIS system with all new interfaces

• Addition of database and system statistics dashboard

• New interface for data transfer between BIS systems

• Database maintenance is more straight forward

– Fresh look for the database index

• Identify report “types” such as data reports, runs, and binary reports

– Easy transfer of reports, drawers, or entire cabinets from one system to another

– Combined processes for tasks like generating drawers

• Generate new drawer, create report 0, and add database security all in one step-by-step interface

Custom Dashboards

• Create dashboard applications without writing a single line of code

• Attach a run to a graph that is populated from the run’s result.

• Specify refresh rates to get continuous updates

• Visualize your data in a way that makes sense to you



Database

• View and edit BIS data reports in a spreadsheet format

• View binary reports!

• Edit runs with split screen mode enabling you to view data report properties while writing a run

• Create data directories for each user to mask the database’s internal structure allowing users to share documents

• Each menu can have a “My Data” tile that will link to this data directory



Database (data report)

• View Data and/or report properties such as data fields, line zero, and date line

• Perform power functions

• Print or export

• Edit report with new spreadsheet layout



Power functions

• Search, Sort, Totalize, Calculate, Match, and Count are becoming interactive

• New interfaces allow users to visually construct a run statement with interactive function masks

• Great for creating complex data queries and for beginners

• Insert generated run statements into an existing run

• Execute power function and see result
