FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Ludden Family,

Prepare ye the way of the Lord….words of Advent, and words to live by every day. As we go about our busy lives, we sometimes forget just what this life and all the busyness is about. It is so easy to get caught up in demands and pleasures; it is easy to forget what really matters.

Jesus came to us as a sweet, pure, innocent baby. He came for us, to experience our lives and what it feels like to be human. He too felt sadness, and despair, and loss. He consistently showed us what it is like to be kind, and mindful, and forgiving. He shows tenderness; He shows love.

In this Holy Season, we need to remember the simplicity and sweetness of that miracle of life who came to redeem us all.

Jesus has indeed blessed Bishop Ludden with many gifts and many good people who listen to His word, and pave the way for goodness and light to come from the hands and hearts of our young people.

God bless you and all those you love with true joy as you unfold the miracle of Christmas.

God bless you!

Practice, practice, practice. If one of the keys to success in education

is practice, then an important question becomes, “What tools are available to students

to facilitate practice?” If you are a student in Dr. Ostrander’s

classes, there are many such tools available on the web. Two of the newest additions are the

“Parts of a Microscope Worksheet” (see http://www.nyostrander.us/Science7/Assignments/MicroscopePartsWS.pdf ) and the “Parts of a

Microscope Worksheet Key” (see http://www.nyostrander.us/Science7/AnswerKeys/

MicroscopePartsKey.html). The fun part is the answer key web page.

It comes complete with card flips which allow students to practice by hovering the cursor over

the cards which automatically flip over to reveal the name of the microscope part and

then flip back to a letter that identifies that part on the image of the microscope. This allows for repeated practice until mastery is achieved. So,

have fun learning on Doc O’s whacky world where you can click it and learn it.

Health Office Reminder

All 7th and 10th Grade students and all

sports participants MUST have a recent

physical on file. If you have any questions

please call the Health Office at 459-7160. Our student handbook clearly states that all students must

be clean shaven each day they come to school. This includes their upper lip, their chin, their lower sideburns and

under the chin.

We reminded all students (boys) on 11-28-16. We also told them that if they are not clean shaven in our opinion, they will receive a detention and will be asked to shave in our

Health Office with a disposable razor or an electric razor. Please be assured that we keep all shaving supplies

complete sanitary.

If they refuse to shave, the parent will be called and will be given the option of convincing their child to shave here at school, or, to come and pick up their child to take them

home to shave.

We truly hope that all students come to school

clean shaven each day so that this never becomes

an issue.

First Friday Adorations

In keeping up with the theme of great Adorations, Senior

Peer Leaders Taylor Fink and Cara Smith both gave testimo-

nies to the Religion classes during First Friday Adoration in

November. Because Thanksgiving was right around the cor-

ner, the two spoke about the importance of thankfulness and

appreciating God's gifts. They also helped the students come

up with things that they themselves were thankful for.

Quarter 1 House Points WINNERS!

Written by Abigail McGinn, 12th grade

This year Campus Ministry has started a system called House Points. The goal of this system is to get the students involved in

activities within the school to help share Ludden’s faith, spirit, and love. How the system works is that each house received points

under three categories: 1) house activities once a month, 2) surprise dress code inspection, and 3) students attending certain school

activities. These points are then calculated and tallied together at the end of each quarter. The winners of each quarter get a prize!

First quarter winners are… junior high: Ms. Brennan's House who won a pizza party , and senior high winner:

Dr. Ostrander's House who won a dress down day. Congratulations to both houses!

November Mass

All Saints Day and Commissioning of Eucharistic Ministers

A group of senior students were recently commissioned as

Eucharistic Ministers. These students attended preparation classes

from Fr. Daniel Muscalino prior to commissioning. The Bishop

Ludden community is very proud of these students for being living

witnesses of Christian faith.

"What is a Saint? To be a friend of God. We have an ongoing

relationship with our God. Talking and listening to Him. The way

you live your life, clearly says you believe in God. We all have the

choice will I be God's friend. Will you?"

Fr. Dan's

homily

8th Grade Retreat

On Thursday, November 10, the 8th graders went to

St. Michael-St. Peter’s Parish Hall for their class retreat. The

theme of retreat was Peace Keeping. Bishop Ludden is

grateful to Fr. Henry Pedzich for opening their doors to

Ludden and for celebrating mass for our students.

“If you want peace, you need to be compassionate and just.

Peace can start right here in this group. Do something

generous and kind. You can change a person’s day and

maybe even their life.” - Fr. Henry Pedzich’s homily
