With a passion for learning combined with the shared goal of our school motto – ‘Endeavour Forever’, striving to always be the best that we can be – students at Bishop Perowne benefi t from being inspired to achieve their full academic and personal potential.

Bishop Perowne is a Church of England school and, as such, is underpinned by a strong Christian ethos. This creates a welcoming community where students are encouraged to be compassionate and respectful as they develop into responsible and accomplished young adults.

With a range of fantastic facilities, our school offers a broad and varied curriculum and has developed a wide range of extra-curricular activities to aid each individual’s personal development. Throughout their time with us our students are instilled with the confi dence and motivation to strive for more, enabling them to look forward to a future full of exciting possibilities.

One of the key contributions of my career to date has been in driving signifi cant changes in order to attain excellence. Under my leadership, Bishop Perowne’s dedicated Senior Team will be highly visible amongst parents and students, developing excellent relationships to improve communication, learning and conduct across the whole school.

In my career I have always found it best to have high expectations of my team and students; they typically live up to those expectations and discover that they are capable of even more than they had thought.

I am incredibly proud of the staff and students at Bishop Perowne. Together we will take our school and make it the school of choice in our local community, to be known as an exceptional learning environment where students are nurtured and supported, challenged and inspired to do great things, now and into the future.

For me the best result is my Further Maths AS level. Bishop Perowne really helped me to do my AS level alongside my GCSE workload. I am going on to Worcester Sixth Form College to study maths, physics, chemistry and accounting. But now I am going to celebrate!” Former student

Endeavour ForeverOur school motto is Endeavour Forever; it sets out our stall in terms of motivating everyone who walks through our doors, whether that is a student, teacher or even a parent, to strive for more and greater things in life.

For our students we want to instil belief that they can achieve more than tests and grades might previously have suggested; we want them to aim higher and challenge themselves by digging deep and releasing their innate potential. The Bishop Perowne team will invest their time and energy to help make this a reality and to build their self-confidence.

For our staff we have high standards also; we develop them to become the best that they can be and make our expectations of them as clear as we do our students and we set them up for success.

When we talk about success we don’t just mean academic success; our mission is to ensure that the young people entrusted to us learn the skills and behaviours required for life after their time at Bishop Perowne CE College.

Teachers have always been available to help if my daughter had any questions or queries. They were devoted to revision sessions and helped her work and achieve the success she has had. The teachers also helped her manage all her other commitments such as dancing and being Head Girl. I am super happy with the school and have two other girls here and am hopeful of what they will achieve. Parent of recent Year 11 leaver

Enrichment & Curriculum

Bishop Perowne CE College

Bishop Perowne’s diverse, modern curriculum provides students with a rich, personalised learning experience. The commitment and expertise of our staff means that students are motivated to engage in learning that is designed to stimulate and challenge them to achieve their full potential.

Our broad curriculum provides choices and opportunities for students, offering core subjects alongside less common choices including engineering, psychology and artistic disciplines within the performing arts. In addition we set out to develop wider skills such as creativity, teamwork, communication and organisational skills.

The Endeavour Programme

The Endeavour Programme is Bishop Perowne’s dedicated provision for more able students across all year groups. It is designed to identify, monitor and support more able students, ensuring that they are sufficiently challenged across the curriculum.

Beyond their classroom learning, this programme seeks to provide a range of enrichment opportunities linked directly to curriculum areas, although others may be more generic. Each department in College provides at least one enrichment opportunity per year, which may include trips and visits, outside speakers visiting College, involvement in regional and national competitions and partnerships with other schools or universities, companies and businesses. Our Endeavour Programme calendar is published in October every year.

School Trips

We believe much can be gained by students through opening up opportunities for them to experience different cultures and art forms. We often achieve this through our school trips. In the past few years we have visited Krakow to show our students the reality of life in wartime Europe; we have taken groups of students on skiing trips and accompanied them on white water rafting experiences. Without exception our students benefit from a different and sometimes even alien environment but it is all part of the learning experience at Bishop Perowne.

Inspiring People

With our school motto of Endeavour Forever we set out to open our students’ eyes to different ways of life and to that end we invite inspiring people into school to talk about their experiences. It could be an entrepreneur talking about how they made their fortune or an individual who has turned their lives around for the benefit of others. Our inspiring people widen the horizons of our students and ultimately motivate them to challenge themselves to do great things in their lives, not just for themselves but for the benefit of others.

A Centre of Excellence for Performing ArtsBishop Perowne was the first school in Worcestershire to be awarded with prestigious specialist performing arts status back in 2002 and we are proud to have retained this accolade ever since.

Bishop Perowne has 20 dedicated places available for students who are keen to develop their skills in performing arts. Every year we hold auditions for aspiring actors, singers, dancers and those keen to pursue careers in technical theatrical disciplines.

Those accepted will enjoy the benefit of an exceptional performing arts team and excellent facilities, including:

• A fully equipped theatre, with sound and lighting to industry standards, which seats 220 people

• A dance studio with a fully sprung floor, ballet barre and mirrored wall

• A drama studio with a full technical installation

Auditions for places take place in October in front of an independent panel comprised of experienced industry figures.

Of absolute importance is that each and every one of our students feels supported and encouraged throughout their time at our school.

We support students of varying abilities; no matter what gifts, talents or needs, we will nurture and inspire them to achieve the best results that they can:

• We offer familiarisation sessions to Year 5/6 children, and new intake induction evenings to new students and their parents and carers, to allow the opportunity to transition and acclimatise smoothly into our school.

• All students are placed into a tutor group comprising a number of students from their own year group. We try to keep students together with an identified friendship group where possible, but also encourage students to mix with members of their year group that they may not usually work alongside. We have developed specialist teams of tutors who are able to support students through a particular time in their school career. For example, one group of tutors work in year 7 and 8 and is able to guide students through these early induction years, whereas our year 11 tutor team is able to provide the support needed to assist students in their GCSE preparations and all the stresses and strains that may bring.

• All students and staff belong to one of our four communities, Duckworth, Fearnley, Perrins and Tilley. We have a lively inter-community activity programme that engages the students throughout the year with activities from sports tournaments and obstacle races to baking competitions.

• We take a zero-tolerance, proactive approach to bullying and have appointed anti-bullying ambassadors.

• In caring for the wellbeing and learning needs of every student we acknowledge and encourage our gifted and talented individuals to ensure they are stretched and challenged accordingly.

• A dedicated learning support team gives support to students where needed, in order to promote access, inclusion and independence so that individuals achieve their very best.

• Our Nurture Base is a dedicated resource for Key Stage 3 students who require emotional and social support. Based within the Malvern Learning Centre, students also benefit from spending time in the calming presence of our popular school dog, Boris.

• Our inspiring futures programme, which broadens our students’ horizons to the world of work.

In addition we work closely with our partner primary schools and colleges of further education to ensure smooth transition both at the start of Key Stage 3 and at the end of Key Stage 4. We also work with a wide range of agencies for advice and support, including our Educational Psychologist, the Learning Support Team, the Behaviour Support Team, Hearing Impaired Service, medical teams, the Educational Welfare Officer and our own College Care, Guidance and Support Team.
