The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce VISION 2030 program identified healthcare as a significant issue in planning for the future of Gainesville-Hall County. To develop the VISION 2030 health and wellness initiative, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce formed the Healthcare Committee in 2007. The committee includes representatives from our hospital, physician groups, health-related organizations and oth-er Chamber businesses. The committee oversees a set of community-wide programs and events and meets monthly to discuss access to healthcare, wellness programs and benefits, healthcare services, legislative issues, health insurance and other important health and wellness topics.
One of the signature programs of the VISION 2030 health and wellness initiative is HealthSmart. Now in its eighth year, the HealthSmart Expo is Wednesday, October 8, 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Gainesville Civic Center and is free and open to the public. Dozens of services are provided at the Expo including FREE Community Health Screenings and over 60 exhibitors. Be sure to join us and BRING A FRIEND or
fellow employee. Free T-shirts to the first 100 people participating in the screenings. Most Fit Com-pany Awards are also part of the HealthSmart program. The Chamber conducts a survey to seek the most fit, healthy companies in Gainesville-Hall County. The award is presented in three categories for large companies (251+ employees), medium (51-250 employees) and small (50 employees or less). The Chamber’s Healthcare Committee initiated this program to raise company wellness awareness and promote healthy workplaces in our community. For more information or to nominate your company, contact Amanda Lewis, 770-532-6206 x 111. Email: [email protected]
Mark your calendar for the Annual Chamber Chase 5K & Wellness Walk on March 26, 2015. With corporate and community teams, this VISION 2030 event includes education and training opportuni-ties for the participants focusing on physical activity and nutrition. Over 2,000 people participated in some aspect of the race in March 2014. Instead of gathering at the company water-cooler for a post-work chat session, thousands of employees descend upon Riverside Military Academy to get a little exercise. The event consists of two, separate races – a 5K run and one-mile Wellness Walk. The goal of the annual race is to encourage businesses to create company-based wellness programs for employees.
VISION 2030 and the Chamber's health and wellness initiatives are funded through the Chamber’s HALLMARK program. I hope you'll take part in these upcoming community events as we strive to make Gainesville-Hall County the healthiest community in Georgia.

Corvette RacingOne of the most successful and popular teams in road racing is Corvette Racing. This year, Corvette fans have the opportunity to cheer on the new Corvette C7.R as they battle in the tough GTLM category. The team scored its first win of the 2014 season at Long Beach and will certainly be in the championship hunt at Petit Le Mans.
The C7.R follows in the footsteps of the incredibly successful C6.R that delivered six driver, team and manufacturer championships from 2005-2013. The new Corvette racecars represent the closest link in modern times to Corvettes built for the street, sharing unprecedented levels of engineering and components.
Driving for Corvette at Road Atlanta will be Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Ryan Briscoe in the first team car. Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Robin Liddell will drive the second team car.
Patrón North American Endurance Cup Adds to Petit Le Mans DramaThere will be a lot on the line at Petit Le Mans, including the Patrón North American Endurance Cup. After 42 hours of racing at three legendary endurance races (Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen), the prestigious Patrón Cup will be awarded following the 10 grueling hours at Road Atlanta’s Petit Le Mans. Since points are awarded to leaders at dierent stages of the race, you can be sure it will be an all-out, no-holds barred sprint to the finish.
Kids 12 and under are FREE at all Road Atlanta events when accompanied by a paid adult.
