Imminence is is the debut fulllength album from russian black metallers Bjarm. However, they are not a very stereotypical and traditional black metal band. With Imminence the band heads for something different which is able to separate them from many harsh underground bands. They propose a symphonic and well elaborated black metal sound based on standard keyboards rather than orchestral parts. The lack of a vast orchestral sound allows guitars, bass, and drums to be at the front of the sound. Guitar lines are pretty simple and do not sound complex, however they are very audible and they are mostly there to underline and accentuate symphonical parts and keep the rhythm solid. The drumming is not fast (blastbeats are barely present here) and it's pretty on midpaced tempos. The vocals remember rather death metal growls than black metal shrieks, with occasional clean female vocals added inside to create a truly creepy vocal harmony. Imminence is characterized by maturity in compositions and depth of thought, and a very well polished sound. All in all, as debut release it is very solid, with a strong presence and a distinct sound. BJARM Imminence Fono 4 July 2014 Composition: Arrangement: Performance: Production: BJARM [email protected]
