BK-117, BO-105 Fleet Grew in 1989 Our annual Mid-Year
Report (July '90, pp. 20-21) omitted the fact that MBB Helicopter Corporation's BK-117 and B0-105 model helicopters grew in number during 1989. The omission was an overs ight of the author, as Table 1 accompa- nying the article showed the growth trend.
The statistics in Table 1 for the two models were correct--showing an increase of four ships for the BK-117 and two ships for the B0-105 during the most recent twelve-month period. But the text ac- companying the article talked about the growth in numbers of the S-76, the Bell 412, the AStar 350, the Bell 206, the Bell 222, and the Agusta 109, and didn't mention the MBB models. In fact, the paragraph concluded with the
statement that, "All other models de- clined."
The Journal regrets this error, and wishes to point out that both the BK- 117 and the BO-105 have been the fast- est-growing helicopter models in recent years in the air medical indus- try. The.two models together currently outnumber all other twin-engine heli- copters combined. ~3
