As you approach Trongsa you will spot the town’s dzong perched at the end of a ridge – it seems to hang in space at the head of the valley. A visit to the Tower of Trongsa Museum is highly recommended. Built into the ancient watchtower overlooking the dzong, the museum provides a wealth of information on Bhutan’s colourful past and affords spectacular views over the dzong and valley.

Of the one in five Australians who will experience a mood disorder in their lifetime, fewer than 50% seek professional help. The consequences are often tragic.

The Black Dog Institute is an educational, research, clinicalandcommunity-orientedfacilityofferingspecialist expertise in mood disorders. The Institute is attached to the Prince of Wales Hospital and affiliated with the University of New South Wales.

Black Dog Institute Community Programs work with rural and metropolitan communities to raise awareness of mood disorders, their warning signs and how to seek help. Our presentations, workshops and events work to reduce stigma in communities and build resilience in individuals.

The Black Dog Institute’s mission is to advance the understanding, diagnosis and management of mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder by raising clinical, research, education and training standards. In so doing, the Institute aims to improve the lives of those affected – and in turn – the lives of their families and friends.
