Dynamical Diagnosis: Use dynamical theory to develop mathematical diagnostic tools that are then applied to phenomenological life cycles to test mechanistic hypotheses

Validation: Validate life cycle characteristics and dynamical mechanisms in climate models and various reanalysis datasets
