Module G Objectives

To be able to explain the purpose and method of Scouting.

To be able to explain how the Child Protection applies to you.

To understand the concept of a Balanced Programme in running weekly sectional meetings.

Be able to identify each of the three young sections’ Programme Zones.

Be able to explore different methods that can be used to deliver activities from the different Programme Zones.

Be able to demonstrate how to plan a meeting based on a particular Programme Zone.

So what is a programme?

“A Balanced Programme is one which allows young people to experience a wide range of subjects through a number of Programme Zones.”

Progressive and accessible

Appealing to a wide range of young people

Meaningful and fulfilling

Safe and enjoyable.

Above all though, the programme should be fun!

Now it’s your turn!

Plan a programme for your section.

In sectional groups, come up with ideas for programme items the members in your section would enjoy.

Using the Programme Zone headings, list the ideas under the correct heading.

For each activity, think of a method to deliver that activity.

Plan 2 or 3 evening programmes using the activities identified making sure you use an activity from each Programme Zone.
