Overcoming Our Fears Understanding Fear Responding to Our greatest fears• Failure (Philippians 4:13)• Want (Psalms 23:1)• Death (I Cor. 15:51-57)
Learn this Fear-Buster from God’s Word
“…God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Who hath saved us, and
called us with an holy calling, according to his own purpose and grace…”
(2 Timothy 1:7-10 KJV)
What Is Fear?
Fear is a normal and natural response to a threat; that threat may be real or perceived.Fear is experienced by every
human being on the planet.
Fear of Failure
1. The fear of failure is a dream killer;
2. It produces spiritual and emotional paralysis;
3. It leads to regret and bitterness.
Misconceptions about failure We live in a “success at any cost” society, which
demands big results in little time; We set ourselves up to fail by not understanding
what it takes to succeed; When we do not experience success in our time
frame, we call it “failure;” We interpret failure to mean, “stop trying.”
Are you afraid of failure? Consider the following verse…
“I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me
strength.”Philippians 4:13 (NCV)
A Philippians 4:13 Attitude1. Whatever you do, make sure that it brings glory to
God;2. Do not focus on results…focus on the “work to be
done;”3. Its not about winning, it is about not giving up;4. Always maintain a divine optimism, despite the
circumstances;5. If the effort causes you to grow in your faith, then it
is counted as a success, despite the results.
