A letter from the Pastor My dear People at Blessed Seelos Parish:

The Gospel today reminds us of the aphorism: “Actions speak louder than words!” We can say anything we want, and that is certainly valuable, but unless we back it up with actions, words mean very little. One way of looking at the life of our Lord Jesus, is that he was a man who not only talked the talk, but he also walked the walk. Let us review, and I will try to come up with as many examples as I can. He praised the poor in spirit, he lived a poor life from beginning to end. He expressed he had come to call sinners, he spent most of his time with them. He often sent people back to their homes proclaiming healing for their loved ones, he healed them at exactly the same time he spoke to them of healing. He told his disciples that his followers must carry the daily cross, he carried a cross himself. He talked about the Resurrection after three days following his death, he rose from the dead and appeared to his disciples. He told them through Mary Magdalen to meet him in Galilee, he showed himself many times to his disciples in Galilee and beyond. Before you go to bed tonight, come up with a couple more examples. It will enrich your faith in the Lord. El evangelio de hoy nos recuerda del dicho: “Las acciones hablan más que las palabras.” Podemos decir lo que queramos, y eso es ciertamente valioso, pero a menos que apoyemos nuestras palabras con acciones, las palabras sirven de muy poco. Una manera de mirar la vida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, es que fue un hombre que no solo habló, sino que también actuó. Repasemos, y voy a tratar de recordar muchos ejemplos de esto. El alagó a los pobres de espíritu, pero también vivió como pobre desde el principio hasta el fin. Él dijo que había venido para llamar a los pecadores, y pasó la mayor parte de su tiempo con ellos. Les dijo a sus discípulos que tenían que cargar su cruz diariamente, y él mismo cargó con su cruz. Habló de su resurrección al tercer día, y resucitó de entre los muertos. Les dijo a sus discípulos a través de María Magdalena que lo encontrarían en Galilea, y se les apareció allí muchas veces. Antes de ir a la cama hoy, trate de recordar algunos ejemplos más. What does the Bible say about judging others? “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. “Do not give dogs what is sa-cred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Porque con el juicio con que juzgáis, seréis juzgados, y con la medida con que medís, os será medido. ¿Y por qué miras la paja que está en el ojo de tu hermano, y no echas de ver la viga que está en tu propio ojo? ¿O cómo dirás a tu hermano: Déjame sacar la paja de tu ojo, y he aquí la viga en el ojo tuyo? !Hipócrita! saca primero la viga de tu propio ojo, y entonces verás bien para sacar la paja del ojo de tu hermano. No deis lo santo a los perros, ni echéis vuestras perlas delante de los cerdos, no sea que las pisoteen, y se vuelvan y os despedacen.
