Aprendamos de los Signos de los Tiempos
“Hoy las tres lecturas nos hablan del final de los tiempos, del mundo, y del universo. Cada año, y con una sabia pedagogía, la liturgia nos hace un resumen del camino Cristiano. En éste Domingo, al final del calendario litúrgico, se nos habla de la escena final de una historia que se inició cuando en el principio creó Dios el cielo en la tierra, y que culmina con las últimas palabras del Apocalipsis: !Ven Señor Jesús!. Perseverar es aguantar, resistir, dar a la luz la vida con la vida. La vida no está en las piedras. La vida está en los creyentes. Es propio de la liturgia con la que culmina el año litúrgico usar esos textos apocalípticos que plantean las cuestiones finales, escatológicas, del mundo y de la historia. Jesús—según Marcos—no lo sabe, no lo dice, simplemente se recurre al lenguaje simbólico de los apocalípticos para ha-blar de la vigilancia, de estar alertas y de mirar “los signos de los tiempos.” Dios tiene sus propios caminos y sus propias maneras de llevar hacia su consumación esta historia y nuestra vida. Sin embargo, en los términos más auténticos de Jesús se nos invita a mirar los signos de los tiempos, como cuando la higuera echa sus brotes porque el verano se acerca; a descubrir un signo de lo que Dios pide en la historia. Dios tiene sus propios caminos para poner de manifiesto que en esta historia nada pasa desapercibido a su acción y de que debemos vivir con la espera y la esperanza del triunfo del bien sobre el mal. Hay pues una relación entre el tiempo y la eternidad, entre el fin de una época y el fin de la historia, entre el fin de la vida y el fin del tiempo. Ambos revelan la condición limitada e imperfecta del hombre y su mundo, que remite a otra realidad superior donde recibe perfección y completamiento. De ésta manera el final de la vida equivale en cierto modo al final del tiempo para cada ser humano; y el final del tiempo para cada ser humano; y el final del tiempo en alguna manera está prefigurado en el final de la vida. Ambos finales se viven a la luz de la esperanza cristiana. Esperanza que es gracia y carisma del espíritu, virtud teologal que tiene por anhelo al mismo Dios y la unión definitiva y perfecta con El.” Hoy tenemos tres motivos para reconocer los signos de los tiempos en nuestra Parroquia. Primero, la celebración en honor de la Madre de Jesucristo con su nombre de La Divina Providencia. Segundo, pri-mer centenario de nacimiento del Beato Carlos Manuel Rodriguez. Tercero, Aniversario 7 de la presencia de Santa Maria Faustina en su religión en nuestra parroquia. Sean felices celebrando éste Domingo de hoy.

The Universe Itself will be Renewed
“The “walking Dead” TV series imagines a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. Survivors struggle in a world filled with zombies and some humans who are even more dangerous than the zombies themselves. The big screen offers us similar versions of the post-apocalypse, Teens fight to the death in “The Hunger Games” (2012), a televised gladiator game set in a nation called Panem (formerly North America). In another movie of doom, “The Road” (2009), a father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the bare landscape except the ash on the wind and water. It is cold enough to crack stones and the falling snow is gray. The sky is dark. The world is no longer capable of sustaining life.
One click on “More Like This” on imdb.com turns up apocalyptic blockbusters such as “Armageddon” (1998), “The Day After Tomorrow” (2004), “The Book of Eli” (2010), “The Maze Runner” (2014), and “Divergent” (2014). Most recently in yet another post-apocalyptic world, “A Quiet Place” (2018) is about a family forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing. It’s safe to say that popular culture is not confident about our prospects. In the flash of nuclear war or in the crockpot of climate change, a bleak future
for humanity is foregone. Christianity sees a different ending to history. We profess our faith every Sunday in “the life of the world to come.” Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have not end. God will bring to glorious completion what he has already began in Christ. The abundant life, peace, wine of the kingdom, wedding feast, paradise and communion with the Most Holy Trinity heralded by Christ will be ours when he comes again. “The universe itself will be renewed” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1042). What a hopeful contrast to the gloomy movies and TV shows! Until Christ comes again, how do we live? Sarah Vowell, growing up in Oklahoma in the 1980s, believed that she wouldn’t grow up. At ground zero in the nuclear arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union, she took to heart the bad joke that life could be over in literally the next 15 minutes. Like any concerned high school sophomore, she joined an anti-nuke school group that dressed in black, put up posters and dug Jack Kerouac at the coffeehouse. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our great high priest, made possible the forgiveness of sins and a new relationship between God and human-kind. As father Daniel Harrington wrote, “This new relationship is what we can enjoy through Christ already.” To take to prayer: Pray the “Our Father” and add the word “today” at the end of each phrase.”

Cultivated young patrician woman whose ancestors loomed large in Rome’s history. She vowed her virginity to God, but her parents married her to Valerian of Trastevere. Cecilia told her new husband that she was accompanied by an angel, but in order to see it, he must be purified. He agreed to the purification, and was baptised; returning from the ceremony, he found her in prayer accompanied by a praying angel. The angel placed a crown on each of their heads, and offered Valerian a favor; the new convert asked that his brother be baptised.
The two brothers developed a ministry of giving proper burial to martyred Christians. In their turn they were arrested were-and martyred for their faith. Cecilia buried them at her villa on the Apprian Way, and was arrested for the action. She was ordered to sacrifice to false gods; when she refused, she was martyred in her turn.
Una joven patricia cultivada cuyos antepasados cobraron gran importancia en la historia de Roma. Ella prometió su virginidad a Dios, pero sus padres la casaron con Valerian de Trastevere.
