All Youth in the Parish are invited to Eucharistic Adoration and Praise
and Worship. From May 31 to August 9 our Wednesday Eucharistic Adoration
at 7:30 pm will be done in the context of Praise and Worship Music. The idea is to attract the young people of the parish. Please invite others. Blas Cardonne Jr. will be in charge of the music. If a Sunday Mass is offered for one of your loved ones, the ushers will be happy to designate you as
the gift bearers. Simply make sure that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass before they have picked
anyone else and be sure to dress appropriately. (i.e., covered shoulders, no shorts or
tank tops, etc.)
As we head into summer, many people go away on vacation. Please remember that the parish expenses continue in the same way during those months and we could not survive without your contribution. Please be mindful of your weekly offering envelopes while you are away, or consider signing up for e-giving. God bless your generosity. Open your heart and be thankful for all the gifts God has given us. God showers us with all His blessings regardless of our circumstance. How we use those gifts is our offering back to God. Generously sharing our gifts keeps us more “God-centered” and less “self-centered”. We have a new Seminarian, Elkin Sierra, staying with us this summer! Below is a brief biography by Elkin : I am 52 years old and currently a seminarian at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton beach. I was born and raised in Miami and am of Colombian origin. I grew up in the church community of St. Timothy and worshipped there for 28 years. Later, in 1999, our family moved south and we became members of Our lady of Lourdes, my current home parish. In 2006, my brother and I joined our parish in a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. I became acquainted with Fr. Michael Davis, the priest who led the trip, and we ended up becoming friends. On June 17, 2006, just days after our return from the Holy Land, I greeted Fr. Davis after the Saturday Vigil Mass, as was my custom. This time, he pulled me in and whispered: “Consider the priesthood.” Those three words changed my life!
I am what is considered a “late vocation”, someone who enters seminary later in life and usually having had a career. In August of 1992 I began my career as a firefighter/paramedic with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. After 21 years of service, and having achieved the rank of lieutenant, I took an early retirement and entered the seminary in 2010. It must be said that for one of those years I was assigned to Station 35 in Miami Springs.
By the grace of God, I have never been happier. God willing, I will complete seminary training in 2019.
