Second Collection There will be a second collection next weekend, June 24-25, for “Peter’s Pence”. See letter from the Bishop in this week’s bulletin regarding this special collection. St. Francis of Assisi FUNDRAISER DRIVE Update As of 6/11/17, we have collected $7,385 of our $30,000 goal. To clarify, there will NOT be an upcoming picnic or spring dinner. This fundraiser drive substitutes those events. St. Barbara's Picnic Info: St. Barbara's will cook chickens for the picnic again on June 19. Work begins at 7am, and much help is needed for as little or as long as you can stay. Anyone who would like to donate ice cream buckets for the chicken broth or jars for the turtle soup, can bring them to the church basement. St. Mary’s Picnic Committee will meet on June 26 at 7pm at St. Mary Hall. St. Mary’s Picnic Please check your June envelope packet for the Chicken and Beef Collection envelope. All donations are greatly appreciated. NEW! PARISH BOOK CLUB! Have you ever felt like you were not "enough" as a wife or mom? Do you struggle to do it all? Does Pinterest-inspired perfectionism leave you feeling overwhelmed? Join us for our first book, Getting Past Perfect: How to Find Joy and Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood, by Kate Wicker (available to purchase at your favorite bookseller). We will meet to discuss the book on Wednesday, June 28, 7pm at the Hardin parish office. (This will be a one-time meeting to discuss this particular book.) Questions? Call Maria Carmody, 576-2662. St. Mary's Altar Society will meet on Friday, July 7 at 7pm at the Church Hall. Blessed Trinity PSR First Eucharist pictures are in the parish office. If you would like them to be left at St. Barbara church please call the office at 618-883-2400. Lighthouse Catholic Media CDs It’s great to see how many of these CDs have been circulating! If you find one that gets stuck or is otherwise damaged, please let the appropriate parish office know. And, as always, be sure to return them to St. Norbert’s or St. Mary’s so they can continue to circulate. St. Francis of Assisi now provides Online Giving - a convenient and safe way to make a one-time or recurring donation. Getting started is easy… just visit our website, www.sfacalhoun.com, and click on the Online Giving link.

SANCTUARY LIGHTS The votive intentions for the week of June 18

St. Mary’s (s)(a) - Jim Macauley St. Norbert’s - Jason Sagez

"The SANCTUARY CANDLE was offered in loving remembrance of these deceased members of our families. In our lives that God bestows upon us, He assures us of His promise that when our earthly lives are complete, He will gather us to Himself so that He will be able to embrace us in His eternal love. May Jesus, the light of the SANCTUARY CANDLE, lead them to the KINGDOM of heaven and may the eternal light and love shine upon their souls forever. Our sincere prayer is that God has given them a place right beside Him. The contribution for a sanctuary candle intention is $5.00 and should be scheduled through the offices.

And check the diocesan website at http://www.dio.org/youthministry/ncyc for the latest updates. Foreign aid saves lives. The administration has proposed steep cuts—as much as 31%—to poverty-focused international assistance. This assistance is only 1% of our nation’s budget, yet it does a world of good. Foreign aid helps fight AIDS and other diseases like Ebola. It is used to respond to disasters in some of the world’s poorest countries. Refugee assistance gives hope to the world’s displaced. Food aid is reaching the vulnerable in South Sudan and other countries affected by a hunger crisis. International assistance feeds, educates and keeps children healthy. Visit www.crs.org to learn more and write your Senators and Representative to ask them to preserve international assistance in the federal budget.

Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ – 18 June 2017 Food and Drink. Flesh and Blood. In his Gospel, Saint John shares three related levels of “flesh and blood” concerning Jesus Christ. (1) He is human, just like us (in all things but sin). (2) He did suffer and die on the cross (once for all). (3) He gives himself as food and drink – and longs for each of us and all of us to dine at this ritual meal (Sunday Mass). Although one form, one Eucharistic species is enough for valid Communion, why should I both eat and drink? How can drinking from the Communion cup bind me more closely to Jesus Christ? How does this drinking and eating meld me more richly with the community of believers?
