The Theatre

Dimensions: Length – 13.5m, Width - 13.5m, Height – 5m Capacity: 80 participants seated Up to 125 guests in other layouts Cost: £33 per hour, when booking eight or more consecutive sessions The Apex

Dimensions: Length – 7.7m, Width - 6.93m, Height – 2.6m Capacity: 20 people. Cost: £25 per hour, when booking eight or more consecutive sessions NB All prices are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate at time of your event

Frequently asked questions Question: How many sessions constitute a block booking? Answer: We usually ask that you book 10 consecutive sessions (with a break for school holidays where necessary), but will apply the block booker rate for 8 or more consecutive sessions.

Question: Is there free on site car parking at Trestle? Answer: Yes for 30 vehicles.

Question: How much notice do you need to ensure I get the date/s I want?

Answer: As much as possible. The earlier you can book the more likely you are to get the date and times you want. However, we specialise in late bookings if the space that you want is available.

Question: Do you offer catering facilities?

Answer: Yes. Our Gallery Café is usually open Monday 9.30am-12.00pm, Tuesdays 9.30am to 4.30pm, Wednesdays 9.30am to 7.00pm, Thursdays from 3.00pm to 7.00pm and 9.30am-3pm on Saturdays. It is possible to open outside of these hours at an extra charge.

Question: How do I pay?

Answer: We take block bookings to coincide with school term dates although you can choose which dates suit you. Payment for the booking is due in advance on presentation of invoice and is invoiced monthly. You can pay by cheque, bank transfer or credit/debit card.

Question: What does the fee include?

Answer: The price you are charged is for the hire of your chosen space plus appropriate staffing for the building. We allow 15 minutes either side of your hire to set-up and clear away.

Question: Are there any other extras? Answer: You may well be charged a ‘room set up’ fee if we need prepare anything in advance of your arrival (Setting up furniture etc).

Question: Will my class be advertised at Trestle?

Answer: All of our block bookers appear on Trestles website, with a link to their own website or contact details. We also have a leaflet display in our foyer. If you wish to use any Trestle information, including our logo, please contact us before doing so we can be sure that you have the correct details

Question: Do I need to provide any documentation? Answer: We request you supply us with a copy of your public liability insurance and DBS (formerly CRB) check information if you are working with under 18’s or vulnerable adults.

What happens next?

We will send out a quote to you if this has not already been discussed. Once a quote figure has been decided we will exchange contracts. Please note that on exchange of contracts a

deposit of 30% of the total hire fee is required for which you will be invoiced.

Trestle Terms & Conditions of Hire

Catering – If you require catering for your event, it must either be provided

by Trestle or another professional catering company. If an external catering

company is used, Trestle charges a fee of 10% of the total room hire cost. Copies of Food

Hygiene and Insurance certificates are required from external caterers. If you have chosen a

Trestle catering option, numbers must be confirmed 14 days prior to your hire date.

Payment – must be made in full on receipt of an invoice. We accept credit/debit cards,

bank transfers (please ensure that you quote our invoice number) and cheques. Cheques

should be made payable to: Trestle Theatre Co Ltd. The User agrees to pay Value Added Tax

at the current rate.

Data Protection – Trestle Theatre Company is registered as a Data Controller with the Data

Protection Registrar. Data will be shared with visiting companies if they are registered as a

Data Controller with the Data Protection Registrar and handle the data in accordance with

the terms of the Data Protection Act (1998). All data supplied to Trestle Arts Base from patrons

purchasing tickets to productions will be handled in accordance with the terms of the Data

Protection Act (1998).

Cancellation Policy – Cancellation of the booking is required in writing. Trestle will retain 30%

of the booking fee if the booking is cancelled before 28 days of the date of the hire. If a

cancellation is made less than 28 days prior to the hire date there will be no refund.

Premises – The User is, during the hire period, responsible for the supervision of the hired

space, the fabric and the contents, their care, safety from damage or change, and the

behaviour of all people using the premises; including proper supervision of car-parking

arrangements to avoid obstruction of the highway.

The User must not use the premises for any purpose other than described in this agreement,

and must not sub-let or allow the premises to be used in any unlawful practice. Smoking is not

permitted anywhere inside Trestle Arts Base. Animals excluding “seeing and hearing” guide

dogs are not permitted inside Trestle Arts Base. At the end of the hire period, the User must

leave the premises and surrounds in a clean and tidy condition, and replace any contents

temporarily removed from their usual position. If any damage to the fabric of the building is

sustained, full costs, after investigation, will be re-charged to the hirer as well as any deep

cleaning costs in the case of wine spillage on carpets or any excessive dirt left on walls or

floors.

Opening Hours – The premises cannot be used for public entertainment except between the

hours 8.30am to 12.00 midnight 7 days per week. Our normal office hours are 9.30am –

5.30pm.

Regulations and Licences – The User must comply with all conditions and regulations by the

Fire Authority, Local Authority, the Local Magistrate’s Court or otherwise. The User must

comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

The User must supply one chaperone for every 10 children under 16, and ensure that any

children under eight (8) years of age comply with the provisions of the Children Act 1989 and

that only fit and proper persons have access to the children.

The User is responsible for any permissions and fees due to the Performing Rights Society, the

MCPS or other.

The User must not exceed the maximum number of persons agreed for this hire, without prior

written permission from Trestle Theatre Company Ltd, which may be withheld due to Fire

Regulations.

The User must keep a register of all their personnel within the building.

The User must ensure that all personnel are fully instructed in fire and emergency evacuation

procedures. This is in accordance with the Public Entertainments Licence issued under the

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982/Stage Play Licence under the

Theatres Act 1968.

Additional Equipment – All electrical equipment to be brought into Trestle Arts Base must be

maintained and operated in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and

no equipment must be used without prior agreement by Trestle Theatre Company.

All use of set, props, and special effects must be agreed and approved by Trestle Theatre

Company’s Technical Manager before the commencement of the hire.

Anyone wishing to film or record and event may do so only by prior arrangement with Trestle

Theatre Company Ltd.

Insurance – The User is responsible for the insurance of its own personnel and property against

all risks and fully indemnify Trestle Theatre Company Ltd against all costs, claims and

demands in respect of personal injury or damage to, or loss of, property and any financial or

economic loss resulting from anything done or omitted by the User. Neither party must do

anything on the premises whereby the insurance policy of the other may be invalidated or

which may cause an increased premium to become payable.

Force Majeure – If by reason of any strike, lockout, war, fire, epidemic, riot, natural

calamity, national mourning, order of government or local authority, act of God, or

other cause beyond the control of either party, the hire is cancelled, the agreement

will be null and void, and no claim will be made by either party against the other.

Map and Directions

By Car: Trestle Arts Base is a ten minute drive from St Albans City Centre, signposted from the

A1081 and A1057, and 10 minutes from junction 22 of M25

By Train: Trestle Arts Base is 2 miles from St Albans City Station and can be accessed by taxi or

bus.

By Bus: Take the S1/S2 Uno bus from St Albans City Centre or Stop B at St Albans City Station,

alighting at the second stop on Drakes Drive. Alternatively take the 655 Uno bus between

Hatfield and Borehamwood or the S7 Uno bus, alighting at Ashley Road or Hill End Lane.
