Everyone knows that Block Island is a premiere vacation destination, but now it’s also developed a reputation for great dining. As a restaurant scene, we’ve truly come of

age. The island is still one of the best places for fresh seafood, but there’s more to satisfy

the palate than just fish. Bagels, fresh made donuts, pad thai, duck confit, beef tenderloin, fettucini alfredo, and enchiladas are just a few of the options that are readily available to hungry visitors. From fine dining to burgers on the beach, there’s something to fit every occasion and budget.

Don’t worry seafood lovers, we still have the best fish around. We fry it, broil it, bake it and serve it fresh from the ocean. From lobster to swordfish, shrimp cocktail to fried clams, haddock to tuna steaks, you’ll be able to satisfy your craving for fish and shellfish.

Many of these establishments offer spectacular settings to sip a cocktail or lunch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. There is nothing better to set the mood than to eat dinner enjoying one of our spectacular sunsets.

Plus for those off-island trips or when you’re coming and going to the ferry, nearby South County also has a wide array of dining options. We highlight some spots that offer high-end dining as well as a casual atmosphere.

In a rush on the way to the ferry? Call ahead and several of these places will be happy to prepare take-out.

In these pages, you’ll find menus and information about the wonderful restaurants, sandwich shops, and takeout places both on and off the island. There are also options for desert and after dinner drinks. One thing is certain, when you come to Block Island, be sure to pack an appetite.
