1. GON Overview
Gaia Open Network (GON) is committed to building a digital content
ecosystem based on blockchain technology, providing an open platform
for the creation, communication, and trading of digital content. GON
provides the services and related protocols needed to build such an
ecosystem, which is composed of the public chain (GaiaChain), the
trading marketplace, the digital content community, and the game
development platform. Digital content creators, enthusiasts, game
developers, consumers and collectors can rely on GON to get a better
experience and gain more value.
GON is created by the Gaia Online team and the Fractal team. Founded in
2003, Gaia Online is one of the world's best anime communities and
virtual worlds, with 29 million registered users, and a total of 2.3 billion
discussion forum posts. Gaia Online is also the pioneer in US to introduce
digital currency and virtual item transactions. To date, Gaia Online has
completed virtual item transactions worth more than $2 billion, with more
than 500 million micro-transactions. Founded in 2016, the Fractal team
3
has been focusing on blockchain underlying technology. It is a technical
leader in public chain development in the world.
1.1. Vision
We are committed to build an ecosystem that is more friendly and open
to all parties in the digital content industry. With the advantages of
blockchain technology, such as transparency, intelligence, decentralization,
traceability, and non-tampering, GON makes the creation, communication,
and trading of digital content more direct and efficient. Digital content
creators can display and publish content, interact with fans, and interface
with communities on a transparent and open platform. GON is more
conducive to the value conversion of digital content, so that the value of
the work can be quickly and fully achieved. Whether it's digital content
creators, enthusiasts, game developers, consumers and collectors, you
can rely on our platform to achieve their value.
1.2. Problems Solved by GON
For most artists, if they deal with a range of issues related to marketing,
sales, networking, legal, tax, and intellectual property, they can't focus on
creation. In most cases, artists and creators who don't sign up for an
agency can't reap the best value of their work. They may even not be able
to get paid legally because of payment methods, taxes, or irregular
contracts. For their fans and collectors, if the work does not have an
4
agency, they will also face a series of problem in authentication, payment,
and legal issues.
Digital content assets are a huge market, including digital art, game items,
digital film production, music, literature, and more. The global digital
content market in 2018 is $500 billion. At present, digital content
distribution and trading are highly controlled by a few major brokerage
firms and distribution companies. Only a few artists have access to
sufficient market opportunities, and most artists and creators have no
opportunity to be seen by consumers. At the same time, the asset value
of digital content is intercepted by brokerage firms and distribution
companies. New artists and creators are restricted in resources, influence,
channels, and cannot harvest the value they deserve.
Blockchain technology provides us with a way to solve this dilemma. With
blockchain technology we can build an open and transparent digital
content platform, provide a new and efficient display space for the digital
content community, open up the application channels of digital content,
and provide space for artists and digital content creators. Blockchain
technology can also provide convenient, efficient and transparent
payment methods for the entire ecosystem, protect the interests of
creators, reduce the cost of consumers, and make the entire ecosystem
grow stronger.
GON can not only promote the development of large-scale communities,
such as GaiaOnline, but also play an important supporting role in the
development of small communities (small fan groups), providing more
convenience in promotion, expansion, and payment. More importantly,
through its game platform, GON provides a wider application scenario
and monetization channel for tens of thousands of digital content items
from communities such as GaiaOnline.
We know that blockchain technology is too complicated for most artists,
5
small and medium-sized game developers, and traditional Internet
companies. Therefore, the blockchain digital content platform is only part
of GON, we also provide a range of services to help organizations and
companies build digital communities that bring digital contents, game
items, and artworks to the chain.
1.3. GON Blockchain Framework
Since its inception in 2003, GaiaOnline has been committed to the
development of digital content ecosystem. After more than ten years of
exploration, we have accumulated a lot of experience, and embracing
blockchain technology is an inevitable choice for the digital content
industry. .
(1) From traditional Internet to Blockchain
GaiaOnline's digital content ecosystem was originally a centralized
Internet business with a centralized architecture. Like other asset-based
business, when the business develops to a certain scale, the centralized
architecture will have technical bottlenecks, such as asset flow traceability,
asset transaction audit, asset system security, operation and maintenance
security. Through continuous exploration and research, we find that
6
blockchain is the best solution to solve these problems.
(2) From Ethereum to a dedicated Blockchain system
Initially we tried to use Ethereum's smart contracts as a solution, but the
huge volume of GaiaOnline's transactions, the diversity of future
ecosystem, and the high transaction costs in Ethereum prevented us. How
to develop a blockchain system that meets business needs, security,
stability and scalability in timely manner is a huge challenge we face.
Fortunately, the Fractal framework has emerged. Fractal is the result of
research and development by China's top technical team. All the ideas
and business needs of the GaiaOnline blockchain system, such as asset
security, scalability, and small transaction fees can be achieved using the
Fractal technology framework. Most importantly, with Fractal, all
business-independent blockchain features are encapsulated, so the
development cycle can be controlled and protected.
(3) Vertical industry protocols
The Fractal technology framework encapsulates the underlying
blockchain technology and provides a scalable Fractal-Plugin for a wide
range of business needs. Unlike the technology platforms such as
Ethereum, the Fractal technology framework does not enforce any data
model binding, which makes it easy to implement various business
models. Third-party developers can customize the blockchain system for
a vertical depth. Therefore, we can abstract GON from the business
applications and design it into the underlying component model of the
blockchain, which makes it highly versatile, great scalability and
development compatibility for the entire digital content industry.
(4) Combination of On Chain and Off Chain
Vertical industry services and protocols based on the GON blockchain
system have great commercial value and can prosper the digital content
industry ecosystem. However, we also clearly understand that the
7
blockchain can't solve all the problems, and many centralized services are
also indispensable, such as professional game development platform,
convenient buildup of digital community, big data analysis service for
historical records, and intelligent matching of user data. Therefore, in the
design architecture, we have made a seamless combination of On-Chain
and Off-Chain services.
(5) Relationship with Fractal and FT public chain
GON's underlying blockchain system, GaiaChain, is developed using the
Fractal technology framework and is a stand-alone public-chain system
that uses the PoS consensus mechanism. Like the FT public chain, it is a
member of the Fractal Technology Ecology at the community level. A
large number of projects, including the FT public chain, have chosen to
use Fractal as a basic technology framework to develop blockchain
systems. Different blockchain systems have their own technical
characteristics. In order to avoid “reinventing the wheel”, we will also
use all the good techniques and implementation methods in the Fractal
ecosystem. At the same time, we will open the code of GaiaChain and let
other projects use it, which also reflects the "blockchain spirit."
2. Architecture of GON Ecosystem
Based on more than ten years of experience in the digital content trading
and community operations of GaiaOnline, and years of in-depth
cooperation with the gaming industry, we have classified, summarized
and organized all aspects of the digital content field, and designed a
dedicated public chain, GaiaChain, for digital content assets. GaiaChain
provides a one-stop shop for content creators and communities by
integrating the On-Chain and Off-Chain services. Not only can digital
content be published to the platform efficiently, but also digital content
published by other communities can be used quickly and easily. GON's
ecosystem will therefore be better developed.
8
GON is an open network architecture centered on the GaiaChain. All eco-
participants, including creators, game developers, independent
communities, and GON Foundations, access GaiaChain through
blockchain protocols.
2.1. GaiaChain
Based on the Fractal architecture, GaiaChain uses the consensus
mechanism of PoS. GON participants can create their own accounts on
GaiaChain and perform various chain activities.
GaiaChain adopts one platform multi assets architecture, and has a
variety of assets in circulation, including native TOKEN and native ITEM.
GaiaChain's transaction fee is based on the gas mechanism, and all
transactions require a certain amount of transaction fee.
9
2.1.1. Tokenized Digital Content
ITEM represents the tokenized digital content asset on GON and is an
indivisible, non-homogenous digital asset created on GaiaChain by a
community that publishes and distributes digital content. Only
community can create and issue ITEM. After the ITEM is released, it can
be traded on GaiaChain.
10
Unlike contract assets such as ERC721, GaiaChain supports the issuance,
transfer and other operations of digital content assets (ITEM) at the
underlying platform level, without the need to write smart contracts,
making the release process more secure, convenient, and reliable. More
features can be implemented through additional protocols.
Take GaiaOnline as an example. GaiaOnline has hundreds of thousands of
virtual items and tens of thousands of transactions per day. GaiaOnline
can tokenize these items on GaiaChain, making these virtual items
tradable, traceable and convertible throughout the GON ecosystem. .
2.1.2. Digital Content Asset Trading
GCoin is the stable currency issued by GON on GaiaChain, which is
equivalent to the US dollar. Trading ITEM must use GCoin as the trading
currency. Each GCoin corresponds to a US dollar. GON Foundation will
have 100% of the reserve on all the GCoin on GaiaChain.
Only in the ability to trade and circulate can real value be realized.
GaiaChain's blockchain ledger enables digital content (ITEM) to achieve
cross-community trading and ensure data transparency and security. In
the future, we will also achieve cross-chain circulation.
2.2. GON Community
The GON Digital Content Ecosystem is made up of countless relatively
independent and diverse GON communities that are digital content
creators and the consumers, and may exist outside the chain.
GaiaOnline is the first community to join the GON ecosystem. GaiaOnline
has become a successful community and virtual item trading platform
through more than a decade of community development and operations.
GON's community-based model architecture works well with the existing
11
GaiaOnline.
The community has strong cultural attributes. People are divided into
groups with common interests and backgrounds. Although GaiaOnline is
the largest anime community in the United States, it is obviously
impossible for GaiaOnline to gather all digital content creators and
enthusiasts all over the world. In addition, geographical diversity, age
group diversity, professionalism, and diversified functions all influence the
development of the community. GON Ecosystem follows this trend by
supporting users to create their own communities, which have their own
user base and creators. At the same time, the blockchain is used to link
the digital content assets published by these communities. These
community users can also be GON users and have GaiaChain accounts. In
addition to having digital content in the original community, users can
also tokenize and transfer digital content assets into their own sub-
accounts on GaiaChain, trade on GaiaChain, or re-transfer digital assets
back to their original community accounts.
2.3. Game Development Platform
In addition to providing GaiaChain smart contract to develop digital
content applications (DApp), we also offer developers an easy-to-use
GON game development platform.
Not only professional game developers can use the digital content assets
(ITEM) corresponding cartoon characters, virtual clothing, virtual items,
virtual backgrounds and other digital content to develop large games on
the game development platform, ordinary users can also use the Game
Development Platform to develop their own small games to share with
friends.
The GON game development platform is a platform that connects the
world through games, connecting game developers, virtual asset creators,
12
and virtual asset owners so that everyone can imagine, create, and enjoy
the game. For example, the game developer accepts GaiaOnline's clothing
ITEM in his new game, so that users with GaiaOnline virtual clothing ITEM
on the GON platform can directly play in the new game with the ITEM
they already own.
We also offer an easy-to-use SDK, a variety of gadgets and template
libraries that allow game developers (including game development
companies) to easily develop their own games using ITEM on GON.
The Game Development Platform includes the following participants:
Game Developers:Developers can quickly develop blockchain games
with the game development modules provided by GON game
development platform and any ITEM on the platform. At the same time,
because ITEM owners can directly play the game with the ITEM they
already have, they can quickly and easily find new users.
ITEM Owners:The ITEM they own not only can be traded on GON, but
also given new value by new games and applications, and the value of the
ITEM will be enhanced.
Digital Content Creators : The game development platform also
provides a brand new market for digital content creators such as creators
of avatars and backgrounds, connecting them directly to game
developers to create and develop new games together.
2.4. Digital Content Asset Trading Platform
GON Ecosystem is made up of a variety of communities, each of which
distributes its own digital content assets on GaiaChain. In order to
enhance the transparency of digital asset transactions and allow these
13
digital assets to flow between different communities, GON provides a
transparent Digital Content Asset Trading Platform.
Users in each community are also GON users, have GaiaChain accounts,
and can trade on the trading platform.
From a user perspective, GON Trading Platform is a trading marketplace,
but in essence it is a decentralized exchange based on GaiaChain. The
openness of the public chain and the rich API can integrate trading
function into each community, providing a new life for digital content
assets (ITEM). These ITEMs (eg avatars, artworks) can be traded,
transferred, traced, and displayed on the GON trading platform, also can
be obtained and used directly in applications and games in various
communities.
2.5. GaiaChain Tools
GaiaChain Wallet
In addition to trading ITEM on GON digital content trading platform,
GON users can also view and trade their own ITEM through GaiaChain
wallet. The GaiaChain wallet also supports the redemption and transfer of
GCoin.
GaiaChain Browser
The GaiaChain browser is used to display all the data of GaiaChain in real
time, including:
GaiaChain's operational data: GaiaChain node status, block data,
consensus data, etc.
14
GaiaChain's account data: view the assets and transaction history of all
accounts
GaiaChain application data: view contract data for various applications on
GaiaChain
GaiaChain Development Tool
In addition to the GON digital content trading platform and the GON
game development platform, GON also encourages all parties to expand
their applications. The GaiaChain contract is compatible with Solidity
syntax and users can post their own contracts on GaiaChain. The
GaiaChain compiler can be used to compile contracts on GaiaChain.
2.6. Other Services
In addition to a stable, efficient, and scalable GON blockchain system, we
offer a range of digital content asset related services. These services are
part of the GON ecosystem and not only help solve the actual needs of
users, but also GON's ecosystem income.
(1) Setup Community Service
Help brokerage companies, game companies, and creative teams quickly
setup communities and tokenize digital contents. The digital content
assets can be freely flowed and used in different communities on the
chain. For established community sites, we offer a one-click SDK to
connect to GON ecosystem.
(2) Information Publishing Service
Providing an information publishing platform, in addition to publishing
community activities, ITEM sales and other information in the GON
ecosystem, it also opens up mainstream social media networks and
provides social media operation services.
15
(3) Blockchain Digital Content Application (DApp) Publishing Service
Since the GON ecosystem has a large number of digital content assets
(ITEM), and GaiaChain provides a complete smart contract function,
developers can use ITEM to develop DApp applications including
blockchain games. We provide DApp Publishing Platform, including:
DApp overview, download, comment, score, subscription and other
functions.
(4) Advertising Platform
With the increase of digital content assets, how to reach target users
becomes extremely important. We will provide an advertising platform
for advertisers to bid for advertising space and accurately push them to
matching users through big data analysis. In addition, we provide
advertising agency services to communities in the GON ecosystem to
help communities monetize their traffic.
(5) Data Analysis Service
The GON communities generate a large amount of usage data and
transaction data of digital content assets (ITEM) every day. We will
analyze these data in real time through big data analysis systems, provide
market forecasting, intelligent matching and other services to enhance
user experience, improve digital content assets (ITEM) value, and
empower GON community development.
(6) Legal Services
The blockchain technology can technically solve the problem of copyright
and property ownership in the digital world, but when the related
disputes involve offline copyright and property rights, professional
lawyers are needed to assist us. We provide legal advisory services such
as intellectual property and copyright to GON users.
16
3. Cooperation and Use Cases
GON is an open ecosystem and we look forward to working with more
third-party partners. Cooperation includes but are not limited to the
following:
3.1. Innovative Communities
GON provides community building, digital content asset SDK, digital
content publishing, fan notification, matching, digital content asset
trading, smart advertising and a range of ecosystem services to help
brokerage companies, game companies and artist teams build
communities and publish digital content asset (ITEM). The community of
digital content creators and fans is at the heart of GON, allowing each
user to participate freely and seek different business opportunities,
making GON a perfect communication tool and business platform.
With powerful analytics engine, we will perform big data analysis on user
participants, and generate detailed data charts that accurately match user
needs and forecast trends.
GON will also provide crowdfunding and commercial agency capabilities
for digital content. With a flat media platform, we will make content
presentation, trading, collection, and social easy.
3.2. Tokenizing digital content to GaiaChain
Tokenizing digital contents to GaiaChain is the foundation of the GON
ecosystem and the connection between the GON ecosystem and the
traditional Internet websites.
GaiaOnline is a concrete implementation of the GON ecosystem.
GaiaOnline joins the GON ecosystem as a GON community. By using
GON's SDK to interconnect with GaiaChain, hundreds of thousands of
17
virtual clothing are tokenized to GaiaChain. These operations will not
affect the user's experience within GaiaOnline community. When user
places a virtual cloth in the "backpack", this virtual cloth will be
permanently stored on GaiaChain, and can be traded in the GON trading
platform.
3.3. Digital Content Asset Trading Platform
The GON digital content asset trading platform provides decentralized
ITEM trading services, including Auction and BuyNow.
Based on the successful cooperation with GaiaOnline, GON will provide
technical tools and a range of ecosystem related services to any
traditional digital content website, game development company, and
brokerage company, to help them tokenize the traditional digital content
to GaiaChain, and help them achieve greater value with blockchain
technology.
For example, the GaiaOnline Southeast Asia community has millions of
user bases, but due to language and culture differences, it is difficult for
these users to communicate with US users in one community. At the same
time, there is also a need for virtual item interoperability between US
users and Southeast Asian users. GON solves this problem. On GON,
communities can be independent and share virtual items through the
18
digital content trading platform.
There are thousands of small game communities around the world.
Because of the language and geographical differences, it is difficult to
bring these small communities together. GON can help these small game
communities access the GaiaChain system. While the communities are
independent, the game items can be exchanged and traded on GON
trading platform, making the game items more valuable.
3.4. Game Development Platform
The GON game development platform includes a breakthrough
underlying technology and SDK modules, enabling game developers and
even regular users to develop games quickly. Below is the typical game
development flow:
1, User selects the digital content asset (ITEM) to be used in the game
development platform, such as cartoon image, virtual cloth, virtual
weapon item, and virtual scenes. These digital content assets (ITEM) can
be directly purchased or leased on the game development platform.
2, Using the game design IDE provided by the game platform to write
game logic, which can be shooting competition, driving competition,
monster fighting mode, farming mode, construction mode, and so on;
3. Select the payment methods provided by the platform.
4. Share the game to your friends in GON and/or via social media.
GON revolutionized the connection between game developers and ITEM
holders, which not only made game development simple and efficient,
but also created new life for these ITEMs and created new value for ITEM
holders.
19
3.5. Digital Content Assets (ITEM) Leasing
The highlight of GON's game development platform is the large amount
of digital content assets developers can choose from. In order to reduce
the early trial and error costs of game development, GON game platform
provides digital content asset (ITEM) leasing service, so developers can
have more assets at less cost.
In addition to the self-operated GON leasing service, we will also support
communities to open their own rental areas on the game platform, as
well as individual users to open their own rental counters. Users can
sublease their collected digital content assets (ITEM) and generate
significant revenue. The rental method can be exclusive or shared based
on the rental fee.
4. GON Business Model
The GON Ecosystem has a variety of business models, including the
following:
4.1. Transaction Fees
As the core of GON, GaiaChain is also the carrier and circulation platform
of various digital assets. Transaction fee is an important income source of
GON ecosystem.
(1) Digital Content Asset (ITEM) Transaction Fee
We will charge ITEM transaction fee. Artists and digital content creators
work through service fees from the very beginning, and agencies typically
take 10% to 50% commission from the artist's net sales. This commission
system is proven and accepted by all stakeholders, so we intend to keep
20
this system, but because of the advantages of using an automated
platform based on blockchain technology, we will have lower indirect
operating costs, we can charged fees on a lower price range, and part of
the transaction commission income is used as dividend and reward to
GON investors and participants.
(2) GCoin Transaction Fee
GCoin is the only medium currency in the GON ecosystem. All
transactions on GON use GCoin. We charge GCoin transaction fee to
prevent improper transfer and money laundry.
4.2. IT Services (SaaS) Revenue
We offer a range of IT services for the GON ecosystem, most of which are
delivered to customers through SaaS, enabling traditional brokerage firms,
Internet companies and gaming companies to publish their digital
content to GaiaChain at minimal cost and generate more value in the
GON ecosystem. Service fees mainly include:
(1) Traditional IT Services
In the early days of GON community development, we will use the SaaS
system to help brokerage companies and game companies build their
communities so that they can gather fans and tokenize the digital content
created by the artists. As the community grows, we will work together
with more professional IT operations providers to provide more IT
services to the communities.
(2) Operating Services
We provide services during the different operating phases for GON
community: help the community publish content, operate social media,
perform big data analytics, provide visibility, and increase user loyalty;
(3) Blockchain Services
21
For the unique digital content application needs of each community, we
also provide blockchain services such as developer wallet, blockchain
browser, blockchain data service, and contract development, to help
communities explore more digital content asset usage scenarios. .
4.3. Advertising
(1) Ad Auction
We offer ad auctions to help advertisers accurately match users and
digital content. The community can purchase the appropriate exposure
on our ad auction platform.
(2) Ad Agency
With channel advantages and system advantages, we provide advertising
agency services. Whether it is a GON community or a game released on a
game platform, or other GON eco-participants, our advertising agency
platform can help monetize any traffic, and we charge a percentage as
the platform revenue.
4.4. Game Development Platform Revenue
The game development platform is an important source of income for the
GON ecosystem.
(1) Game Development Tools and Services
For beginner game developers, we offer basic development tools and
services for free. We offer fee-based packages for professional and semi-
professional developers, offering differentiated services such as more
development tools, a richer development SDK, more complex game
models, and more effective game promotion channels.
(2) Game Revenue Sharing
22
We provide game developers with traditional payment methods and
digital currency payment methods, and provide reward systems. Gamers
can pay games in a variety of ways, such as direct purchase and in-app
purchase. Similar to Apple's App Store, we will charge a percentage of
revenue in the process.
(3) Digital content asset rental income sharing
GON game development platform provides digital content rental services.
Both game developers and digital content holders can benefit from rental
services, and we charge an appropriate revenue share as platform
revenue.
4.5. Off-Chain Services
We will also cooperate with relevant service providers to provide rich
offline services for participants of GON Ecosystem, such as legal
consultation and financial services.
23

with Fractal technology, but also provided digital financial solutions and
blockchain systems for many financial institutions.
During the preparation of the GON project, artists, community operations,
engineers and blockchain experts who participated in the project found the
pain points and opportunities of the digital content industry. Now they are
providing solutions to the industry peers through GON.
25
7. Offering Plan
GToken Holders' Rights
GON's rights are reflected through GToken. GToken is the sole
representative of GON's rights such as voting and dividends. They have
both the right to vote business decisions and the benefit to income
sharing. The main rights are reflected in the following two aspects:
1) Community governance voting: GON's major business decisions are
determined by the GToken holders voting on the Gaia Chain, and
more than 50% of the votes needed to be implemented.
2) Income Dividend: The GON Foundation will use 40% of the GON
platform revenue as "GToken Holder Dividend", either as dividends to
GToken holders directly or to repurchase and destroy GToken from the
market. The other 40% will be used as an ecosystem development
fund. The remaining 20% is used as GON operating expenses. The
"GON platform revenue" includes 100% income of GON ecosystem's
on-chain business and 100% net profit of GON ecosystem's off-chain
business.
GToken Holder Dividend Distribution
"GToken Holder Dividend" accounts for 40% of "GON platform revenue".
The distribution flow is shown in the figure below:
26
The GON Foundation will periodically (such as monthly) evaluate the
GToken's dividend return rate. When the dividend return rate is not high
(for example, the annualized return rate is less than 10%), the repurchase
process will be initiated. The GON Foundation will purchase GToken from
the market at market price and destroy them to reduce GToken circulation.
This will indirectly increase the future dividend ratio of each GToken.
When the dividend return rate is high (for example, the annualized return
rate is higher than 10%), the dividend is distributed to GToken holders on
a monthly basis automatically.
It is worth mentioning that the GToken issuance right is not controlled by
the GON Foundation or any organization and individual, but is
determined based on the "Community Governance Voting" whether to
issue additional financing. In other words, during the development of the
GON project, if additional financing is required, the GON Foundation
cannot directly issue additional financing. Instead, it must initiate voting
27
on Gaia Chain through "Community Governance Smart Contract". More
than 50% of the votes needed to approve additional financing. In
principle, additional tokens will be automatically locked on the chain and
unlocked in 12 months.
Offering Plan
Initial Offering:10,000,000 GToken
80% is used for fundraising, and the remaining 20% is for long-term lock-
in (the dividend generated is used to incentivize the team and the
ecosystem development)
Fundraising Plan:$8,000,000
8,000,000 GToken for sale,1 GToken = $1;
Among them, GaiaOnline will buy 4,000,000 GToken, the other 4,000,000
GToken will be for new investors。
