What is a Blog?

A blog is a type of website or part of a website.

Usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.

Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order.

Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other via widgets on the blogs and it is this interactivity that distinguishes them from other static websites

A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic

How To Blog Even If You Are Not A WRITER?

Define Your Goals

• What do you want to gain from your blogging efforts?

• Are you hoping to top the search results

• Build your product brand

• Educate people about what you do or increase your customer base?

Write down your goals clearly and create your content strategy accordingly

The Basics

• The titles will help you form further ideas on how to structure the rest of your article.

• Write down a set of bullet points for each post

• Write in your own voice

Put your ideas down and create potential titles for blog posts.

• Ignore fancy language, heavy vocabulary and high-level grammar.

• Write your blog personally, as though you are drafting an email to a dear friend.

• Focus on one bullet point at a time

Choosing a Topic

• Are you interested in the TOPIC?

• Is the TOPIC popular

• Is the Topic one that is growing or shrinking?

• What competition is there?

Your Blog should be what you are!

• What is the competition neglecting?

• Will you have enough Content?

• Do YOU have enough content within YOU as an author?

• Do you have access to enough other sources of content and inspiration?

Test Your Writing

• Read your posts out loud.

• Spell check your post

• May be you can try speech recognition software to speak out your thoughts.

• If you are still unable to write, use pictures.

• Websites are ranked high by Google because of the images.

• Upload videos.

Update, Update and then Update

• The blogs that attract the most readers are the ones with frequent updates.

• As you go about your day, keep the blog in the back of your mind.

• Don't be afraid to write about everyday activities — Client Complaints and appreciations, — but don't neglect to talk about what you're thinking and feeling.

• Having a co-blogger can take some of the pressure off, especially if all authors contribute regularly.

If you will be updating your blog on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, try to be consistent about when you add new posts so that your readers know when to catch up. For example, you may choose to update your site every Sunday evening.
