201The The
Going Grocery Shopping? Don’t forget to pick up your Sobey’s Gift Card at the school office!
Every dollar raised helps to provide funding for school programs, field trips and
more! The more money we earn the less you have to pay as a parent for these
valuable educational enhancements. The gift cards will be available till the end of
the school year.
The first family that purchases a total of $2000.00 worth of gift cards wins a family
photo session with Janet Horbacio Photography in Calgary. The session includes a
family portrait session and an 8 x 10 print.
This gift certificate is valued at $175.00!
Thank you! The Millarville Community Foundation would like
to thank all the casino volunteers that worked
Jan 3rd & 4th. We especially want to thank
Norma Dawson for organizing all the volunteers!
Also a big thank you to Grant & Jill Sanden for
helping coordinate the casino. We really
appreciate all the volunteers that help support
the Millarville Community School, Millarville
Sports Association, Community Library,
Preschool & Playschool. We are very fortunate
to live in such a wonderful community!
A Greener, Blue News!
We have decided to go green with our school’s
Blue Newsletter. Instead of printing over 600
pages each publication, an email will be
circulated with a digital copy in addition to it
being posted on our school’s website. Starting
on January 20th, only a limited number of paper
copies will be available for pick-up in the school
office.
It’s not too late!
Online pre-ordering for February Hot
Lunch closes Monday, January 27th
at midnight.
Haven’t registered yet? Sign up is
easy and our menu items include many
great options from Booster Juice to
Quesadillas! Don’t forget, all pizza
ordering is now online too.
Do you really want to make another lunch? Order online, sleep in on Hot Lunch day, and let us do the work for you!!!

A Big Thank Your to the Fundraising Society!!!
Outdoor Pursuits would like to thank the Fundraising
Society for supporting our recent purchase of Cross Country
Skis in the amount of $6500.00! Thank you also to the MCS families that continue to support
the Fundraising Initiatives to make these amazing purchases possible!
The school has been
going through
a LOT of PLASTIC
SPOONS!!
Please do not forget
to pack reusable
spoons/forks in your
child’s lunch. It is
environmental and
saves the school the
cost of supplying
plastic cutlery.

Part Time Help Wanted
Nola’s Granola is looking for two or three people to
work one or two days a week making the best
granola in the west! The job location is at the Red
Deer Lake Church kitchen. Hours are from 8:00-
4:00 but are fairly flexible to accommodate school
schedules.
Please call Glenda Bruder at 403-931-1558 if you
have any interest or would like more information.
Fresh Fruit Bowl
Starting soon, the Healthy Initiatives Committee will be providing a bowl of fresh fruit for students, staff
and parents to enjoy. Located either in the Learning Commons or the main office (TBD), it is intended to
provide a healthy snack option if you are hungry or just in the mood for a piece of fruit. Fruits with peel
will ensure cleanliness.
Why not eat some fruit? After basketball practice… after a long bus ride… before hopping on the bus
back home… waiting for a ride from a parent… or anytime your tummy is rumbly.
Please try it! We will continue to support the fruit bowl if it is eaten and enjoyed. [Please note that this is not a reflection that children’s’ lunches are lacking in fruit – they are not. It is just extra fruit.]
Funding was made available through a Healthy Initiatives grant awarded to Foothills School Division, shared
between MCS and other participating schools. Feedback on this idea to Ms. Sanders, Lisa Grover or Dawn Dott.
