An examination blueprint is a ‘table of specifications’ that each sitting of an exam is designed to cover, if only in part. Key Meaning

√ Each learning outcome is either considered essential, desirable or aspirational. Each candidate is at risk of assessment of some aspect of these outcomes in one or more parts and/or sections of the examination as indicated in the tables. Questions or exercises may be designed where practicable to cover several outcomes.

E (Essential) Candidate should have a sound theoretical knowledge and understanding of the subject together with an adequate clinical experience to be able to resolve clinical problems encountered, independently, or without assistance

D (Desirable) Candidate should have a sound theoretical knowledge of the subject, but need have only a limited clinical/practical experience

A (Aspirational) Candidate should have a basic understanding of the subject, but need not have direct clinical experience or be expected to carry out procedures independently
