BLUESONBROADBEACH2017Morethan35AustralianandInternationalBluesactshavebeenaddedtothealreadyimpressive2017BluesonBroadbeachMusicFestivalline-up,whichwillfeatureUKsuperstarBonnieTyler,AustralianlegendIanMossandrockabillykingSlimJimPhantomTrio.
Nowinits16thyear,multiawardwinningBluesonBroadbeachisoneofthelargestfreemusicfestivalsinAustralia,entertaininglocalsandvisitorswithalmost70actson20stages.SituatedonthepicturesqueGoldCoast,theeventdrawsmorethan160,000visitorsoveritsfourdays,withnumbersgrowingeveryyear.

BroadbeachAllianceChiefExecutiveOfficerJanMcCormicksaystheteamareecstaticwithhowthisyear’sFestivalisshapingup,andarelookingforwardtomakingafewmoreannouncementsastheFestivalgetscloser.

QueenslandMinisterforTourismandMajorEventsKateJonessaidthecalibreofperformerswillbeahugedrawcardforvisitors.

JimiHocking,anincrediblehome-grownbluesartist,beganhisaffinitywiththeguitarasachild,whenhisfatherpresentedhimwithhisfirstacousticguitarforChristmas.SincethenJimihasrarelyputaguitardown,especiallyinhistimeastheleadguitaristfortheScreamingJetsinthemid-90s.Aftermuchsuccess,Jimireleasedhisfirstbluesalbum,‘BlueGuitar’whichsellsaswelltodayasitdidin1999.Havingplayedfestivalsaroundtheworldandwoncountlessawards,JimiwillbringhisincredibletalenttoBluesonBroadbeachin2017.
ThelateandgreatPrincesawsomethingspecialinDarrenHart,knownasHarts.ThemusiciconflewHartsouttohisStudiosinMinneapolistoplaywithhim,saying,“HeremindsmeofhowIwasatthatage”.TheMelbournemusician,singer-songwriter,multi-instrumentalist,composerandmusicproducerisoftenlabelledas‘aone-manmusic-makingmachine’–hecreatesallhismusicsingle-handedlyinhisbedroomstudio.HartshasbecomeknownforhisJimiHendrix-likeguitarplayinganduniqueblendoffunk,pop,rockandsoulmusic,whichhasearnedhimpraiseworldwide.

Locallybased,USmusicianLouieSheltonBlueslandwillbringhiswealthofexperiencetothe2017Festival.AninducteeintotheMusiciansHallofFameandMuseumandtheArkansasEntertainersHallofFame,LouiehasworkedwiththelikesofTheMonkees,MarvinGaye,SimonandGarfunkel,StevieWonder,TheJackson5,NeilDiamond,JohnLennonandBarbaraStreisand.HealsoplayedtheguitarsoloonLionelRichie’shit‘Hello’.Don’tmissLouieSheltonBluesland.
Alsojoiningtheline-upandbringinghiselectrifyingshowtoBroadbeachismulti-awardwinning,DarrenJackBand.AddingatouchofmagicandmillionsofYouTubehitstotheFestivalwillbemusicalvirtuoso,JuzzieSmith,bestknownforhisamazingabilitytoplayguitar,harmonicaandpercussionatthesametime.Riffandgroovebasedbluesband19-Twentywillwhipthecrowdintoafrenzy,whiletheincredibleAaronWest&theCustodiansandBennyDWilliamswillshowcasewhatthelocalshavetooffer.
