In Bullinger s Numbers we read about the number eight that InHebrew the number eight is Sh'moneh, from the root Shah'meyn, "to makefat," "cover with fat," " to super-abound ." As a participle it means "one who abounds in strength," etc. As a noun it is "superabundant fertility,""oil," etc. So that as a numeral it is the superabundant number. As seven was so called because the seventh day was the day of completion and rest,so eight, as the eighth day, was over and above this perfect completion, and

was indeed the first of a new series, as well as being the eighth. Thus italready represents two numbers in one, the first and eighth.

Messiah rose on the third day, but it was actually the first day of the week, which according to Bullinger, should alert us to the reality thatMessiah s day of choice to defeat death should hearken the holy sparkinside each us that Yeshua s resurrection is over ly-super-abundant withlife, new beginning and far sufficient to deliver us from our failures, oursins, a haunting past, or a dark closet. God is trying to tell us that we areunified to & by the work done by His Son and His resurrection is a call forus to walk in the Super-Abundance of His provision, His deliverance, HisSalvation, His Redemption, His Righteousness, His Love, His Glory and HisPlan! It is enough! And everyday He is Renewing us, calling us to anotherNew Beginning!

Beginning in Leviticus chapter 9 verse 22 we read , 22 Then Aaronlifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them, and hestepped down after making the sin offering and the burnt offeringand the peace offerings.

23 And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting. When theycame out and blessed the people, the glory of the LORD appeared toall the people.

24 Then fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burntoffering and the portions of fat on the altar; and when all thepeople saw it , they shouted and fell on their faces.NAS Leviticus 10:1 Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took their respectivefirepans , and after putting fire in them, placed incense on it andoffered strange fire before the LORD, which He had not commandedthem .

2 And fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumedthem, and they died before the LORD.

3 Then Moses said to Aaron, "It is what the LORD spoke, saying, 'Bythose who come near Me I will be treated as holy, And before allthe people I will be honored.' So Aaron, therefore, kept silent .(Lev 9:22-10:3 NAS)

As we explore this passage we must attempt to identify with Aharon if we are to even begin to grasp the absolute terror that seemingly devastatesa time appointed for the ordination of the priesthood, and a timecelebration. We read at the end of the passage that after Aharon s sonsNadab and Abihu are killed, that Aharon kept silent not even allowinghimself time to grieve. The Etz Hayyim commentators query What, then, isthe unusual significance of Aaron s silence? Perhaps the text is suggesti ngthat there are more possibilities and more power in silence than in any words (Aaron Was Silent, p.634).

In the book of Ecclesiastes we read,

A time to be quiet and a time to speak.11 Yet God has madeeverything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in thehuman heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God

work from beginning to end Ecc 3:7, 11 NLT)

Beloved, in large part, what we re witnessing here in Aharon s choiceto refrain from what many would consider a natural outpouring of emotion, reveals what many of us should strive for no, I m not insinuating to cutourselves off from our heart rather, realizing that the tragic demise of Aaron s sons came from disobedience to YHVH s command! Did we not juststudy last week, in last week s parasha Tsav/Command/Appoint/Charge

The word here for being silent, or holding one s peace is

    H1826 da

    mam daw-mam'

A primitive root (compare H1724, H1820); to be dumb ; byimplication to be astonished , to stop ; also to perish: - cease, be cut down(off), forbear, hold peace, quiet self, rest, be silent, keep (put to) silence, be(stand), still, tarry, wait .

    Strongs #1826: AHLB#: 1082-B (N)1082) ( DM) ac: ? co: Blood ab:

Likeness: The pictograph is a doorrepresenting the idea of moving back and forth. The is a picture of water andcan represent any liquid especially blood. Combined these pictures mean "themoving back and forth of water" or the "flowing of blood". Similarly, the grape

plant takes water from the ground and moves it to the fruit where the water becomes the blood of the grape. (eng: dumb)

    B) ( DMM) ac: Silent co: ? ab: ?: When the blood is shed, the man

or animal becomes silent and still.

    Nm) ( D-MM) - Silent: [freq. 30] |kjv: silence, still, silent, cut off,cut down, rest, cease, forbear, peace, quieted, tarry, wait| {str: 1826}

Knowing the right time to speak, to act, to move, or to be still, to stopand wait shows a great degree of spiritual maturity. It also shows a heartfully devoted to YHVH. As much as Aaron suffered the loss of his children Aaron understood his purpose which outweighed the immediate urge togrieve. Sometimes, exercising our will to stand up for righteousness despiteour heart pains that would urge us to take ourselves up off of the altar ofLiving Sacrifice are the moments we grow the most.

Aharon, realizing his life was created to be an offering , conductedhimself as one who was created to be an offering should silent.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one tohis own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before hershearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. (Isa 53:6-7 KJV)

4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon yourbed, and be still. Selah. 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, andput your trust in the LORD. (Psa 4:4-5 KJV)

And so we look at this passage and I began with the first word thatappeared to reveal something we can all learn from. The word here forFirepan. If we go back to Exodus 27:3, and 27:19. We read,3 "And you shall make its pails for removing its ashes, and its shovels and itsbasins and its forks and its firepans; you shall make all its utensils of bronze.(Exo 27:3 NAS)

19 "All the utensils of the tabernacle used in all its service, and all its pegs, andall the pegs of the court, shall be of bronze. (Exo 27:19 NAS)

Utensils serve a purpose in the tabernacle of YHVH. In the parashaTerumah, which means contribution or heave offering, we read that theutensils fabricated were used to serve as shovels, basins, forks, firepans andpegs. The word in Hebrew for utensil is

There is one other critical word that stems from the same 2-letter rootas used for vessel and utensil; many believe it to be a word originated in the brit Chadasha, but this word traces back all the way to when Isaac blessed Ya akov passing on to him the same covenantal promise given him by hisfather Abraham when he said,

6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the samemonth: and the whole ssembly of the congregation of Israel shall

The word used here for multitudeis the same word in Hebrew YHVH uses to identify His peoplein Exodus chapter 12 verse 6 when instructing them how toobserve Passover when He said,

3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiplythee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people; (Gen 28:3 KJV)

    The word is qa ha l Strongs# 6951 and it means assembly, company,congregation, multitude. Flock: A gathering of the flock to the shepherd.[freq. 123] |kjv: congregation, assembly, company, multitude| {str: 6951}

With it he would direct, discipline and protect the flock.(eng: clown; call - to call together)

The point I want to address is that the vessels, like the firepans used in

the service of the Tabernacle were all symbolic of the nation, the people ofIsrael, coming together with a Terumah, or a Willing Heart Offering, and inexchange God has consecrated us for the service of the temple of YHVH.

Has He not created us as vessels of His Holy Spirit, to be made complete byHis infilling?

out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: ( Act 2:17-18 KJV ) 13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man,

how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: 14 And here hehath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, tobear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:(Act 9:13-15 KJV )

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and ofsilver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some todishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be avessel unto honour , sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and preparedunto every good work. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again,

but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out,"Abba! Father!" ( Rom 8:15 NAS )

15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise,16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with

the Spirit , 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always giving thanksfor all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;(Eph 5:15-20 NAS )

A brief word about firepans Firepans, or censers, depending on thetranslation you are reading from reveal a symbolic meaning as well. In

Hebrew the word is machta h, makh-taw' & it means in the sense ofremoval ; a pan for live coals: - censer, firepan, snuffdish. In the pictographlanguage it reveals

    1183) ( HhT) ac: Break co: ? ab: F |kjv: dread, broken, fear, dismayed| {str: 2844}

    fear or terror. [freq. 54] (vf: Paal, Niphal, Hiphil, Piel) |kjv: dismayed, afraid, break in pieces, broken, break down, abolish, amazed, confound, discouraged, beat down, scarest, terrify| {str:2865} Nm) ( Hh-TT) - Breaking: [freq. 1] |kjv: cast down| {str: 2866}

Simply it means to break, dread, broken, fear, dismayed, to break in pieces. Are we not to come to The Father, broken, humble, contrite? The Fatherlistens to those who are humble and who approach Him in reverential fearand awe.

19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will alsohear their cry and will save them. (Psa 145:19 NAS)

17 The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject abroken and repentant heart, O God. (Psa 51:17 NLT)

What were the censers used for? Examine the priest drawing at the beginning again. He s holding a censer there. Inside were burning coalsfrom off the altar of sacrifice and then incense was poured over them and

contained in the censor. So, according to Rev. 5:8 we learn8 When he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down in front of the Lamb. Each one held a harp

and gold bowls filled with pieces of incense, which are the prayersof God's people; (Rev 5:8 CJB)

The incense is symbolic of the prayers of the saints. And in order for itto be acceptable to YHVH, our prayers must come first from a life that has been offered upon the altar of sacrifice because this is where the coals were extracted from. Leviticus 10 says Nadab and Abihu took

    And offered it to YHVH

Like, taking a golden calf And offering it to YHVH?

Remember what happened in the event with the firepans and Korach?Consider Numbers Chapter 16. Many commentators can only speculateupon the motives within the hearts of the sons of Aharon, but this much is agiven they did something that was not commanded by YHVH.Therefore let us remember how we are to pray.

Yeshua taught us how to pray, even to pray for our enemies isthat how we pray today? Selah :o)

Looking at Nadab and Abihu, looking at Uzzah and David, looking atthe Pharisees and the Torah teachers who confronted Yeshua in anargument about man-made traditions we see a common thread that runsthrough them all.

In their own mind they believed they were standing up for and doing what was right. But the question is did what they believe to be right line up inTorah with what YHVH declared to be right?

What position did Nadab and Abihu fill? What position did Uzzah and David fill? What position did the Pharisees and the Torah Teachers fill?

Nadab & Abihu : sons of Aaron, of the tribe of Levi, ordered to the service of TheHoly Tabernacle and the service thereof.

Uzzah : Some sources (The Works of Josephus, Holman s Illustrated BibleDictionary) agree that Uzzah was a Levite, from the same family that came out of

exile from Babylon back to Judah (Ezra 2:49). A family of temple servants. SoUzzah, being a Levite himself would be thoroughly educated in the proper way totransport all of the temple furnishings.

King David : When Israel had a king, they were instructed by YHVH to write theirown Torah Scroll! So even if Uzzah had not been a Levite, David was thoroughlyknowledgeable in the proper means of transporting the furnishings of theTabernacle.

4 people, all given positions of service of The Tabernacle and each disregardedTHE COMMANDMENT. Resulting in the death of three, and the bitter grieving

by King David at the fall of Uzzah.

All of them filled a sacred and holy positions, each with a calling and specialresponsibility. But not only towards God, these positions were recognized by the

people. When Nadab and Abihu, or Uzzah, or King David or the Pharisees orTorah Teachers walked by, they were identified and stood out among the people why? Because these were people that were recognized for holding positions notonly of leadership, but were responsible to reveal the character of God to them, tohelp open Torah up to them that they would be better equipped to understand andwalk out Gods truth in their own day -to-day living!

And so with such a responsibility came over time a measure of prestige andhonor. Honoring a position of leadership is not wrong, that is not what were tryingto convey! What we are revealing here though is that these positions of leadership

were granted by God, and so a great deal of responsibility fell upon these folksshoulders, and one thing they had to be constantly on guard for is being aware ifthey were leading with Gods truth, or what they Felt what was right in a givenmoment.

And from everyone who has been given much shall much berequired; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all

    the more. (Luk 12:48 NAS)

Because the people closely observed those in positions of leadership; whichis why it was vital that a person in a position of leadership be able to discern andchoose with a heart of wisdom and humility, not a heart of selfish ambition and

pride. If the King sours, the people sour. If the priest had good intentions but failsto follow Gods outline, before long the temple becomes defiled, the people losereverence for the priesthood, for God, for the blessings of protection bestowedupon them and suddenly you wake up in Babylon, or dont wake up at all!

If we are ever going to rise above the shackles of the enemy of our souls weare going to have to lay aside our ideas of what righteousness is, of how to dosomething correctly, and seek Gods way.

12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is theway of death. (Pro 14:12 NAS)

And once we stop doing things the way we think are right, then you knowwhat will happen? We will be able to see The Heart of YHVH. Do you hear me?ARE YOU LISTENING? If we will humble ourselves, if we will quit looking for

an angle to elevate our name, if we will refuse the attention of manandvalue Gods attention mor e then HE will reveal HIS Heart to us.

Lev.11 Read through the Chapter:44 'For I am the LORD your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy. And you shall not make yourselvesunclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth.

45 'For I am the LORD, who brought you up from the land of Egypt,to be your God; thus you shall be holy for I am holy.'"
