Features and Benefits Traditional Laces Boa SystemWHY BOA?

SecureEvery runner has stopped to re-tie laces -- especially on the trail, where debris catches on loose, flapping ends. The last thing a runner wants is to trip on a lace in a boulder field.

With Boa, the runner can set it and forget it. Runners can focus on the trail ahead instead. There are no loose ends flapping in the wind (or catching on briars).

The Boa System is infinitely faster on and faster off when compared to traditional laces. Even when adjustment is needed, it takes only seconds to stop, click, and continue.

In a dry environment, laces and The Boa System weight within a few grans of each other. In wet, muddy environments. Boa weighs 1/2 traditional shoelaces.

Some sources estimate that runners can spend several minutes tying their shoes before and during a marathon.

Traditional shoelaces absorb moisture and are not constructed to shed debris, like mud.

With a three-guide system, the Trail I configuration is built for stability in environments where

uneven terrain is the norm. The NC722 Lace has been tested extensively in the field and

rates high for fatigue durability. The tongue-mounted low-profile L5 dial is easy to adjust, yet

out of the way. The Trail I is recommended for shoes with soft, lightweight uppers.

Trail III configuration is the top choice. The Boa L4 Dial provides 30% more closure power than

For mid-weight trail-running shoes, the Trail IV combines the powerful closure force of the

Boa L4 dial with the soft, forgiving fit provided by Boa Ghillies. This configuration is best

Runners crave heel lock for a more reliable transition from footplant to forward propulsion, and the

Trail V’s game-changing network of webbing and force directors perfectly fill that need. The high-

The Trail VI configuration clearly delivers a major benefit that many traditional shoelace

designs cannot: heel control. A low-profile Boa Dial allows the athlete to intuitively adjust the

closure force click-by-click. As the dial is turned, force directors channel tension down the

upper and also around the soft heel counter. The collar compression translates to a locked-

in heel that elevates the performance of today’s lightweight, even minimalist, shoes.

Precision FitLaces can create uneven pressure, contributing to discomfort and poor performance. As laces stretch with daily wear, there is also a constant need to untie and adjust to maintain a comfortable fit.

The Boa Closure System evenly distributes pressure across the foot, and since Boa laces never stretch or give, users can dial in the perfect fit and keep it all day long. No need to adjust or re-tie.

The Boa Closure System tightens with the quick turn of the dial, and releases with a simple pull -- ideal for people on the move.

Boa laces provide a customized fit for every activity, and the stainless-steel nylon coated laces shed water, dirt, and grime, making them the perfect accessory in any condition. In wet conditions, Boa laces weigh half what traditional laces weigh.

INTRODUCTION On the steepest pitches, Boa’s customized fit provides ultimate security and performance. But that is only half the story, on the approach, Boa’s dynamic fit translates to stability on rocky, off-camber routes. With harnesses, belays, high winds, and anchors in the mix, the secure and micro-adjustable fit of Boa lets climbers focus on the wall instead of the shoe.


Secure Traditional laces can stretch and knots slip, all in an environment with little margin for error.

Boa laces don’t stretch, loosen, or slip. Once a secure fit is dialed in, it stays that way until the climb is over.

Boa is designed for fast, easy adjustment with the simple click of a dial. If one hand and a few moments is all it takes to re-adjust.

The Boa Closure System is designed with laces tested to be ultra abrasion-resistant and durable over 1MM+ cycles of activity. The system easily sheds dirt, grime, and water.

On the side of the mountain is no place to re-tie a shoe. If a fit adjustment is needed, there is no option to use both hands to adjust laces.

Laces wear and tear with constant exposure to rock, grit, and water. They do indeed fail over time.
