At the June 22, 2020 Board of Education meeting…

• Recognized John Blask for his 16 years of service to the School District of Pewaukee and community. • Administered the Oath of Office to newly appointed Board Member, Stacey Newcomer. • Public hearing was held regarding Waiver of Instructional Hours in accordance with WIS. STATS. 118.38(1)(B) and

the Board approved the Resolution for the Waiver. • Updated Student Handbooks were presented. • Approved the list of academic standards to be utilized for the 2020-2021 school year. • Approved the 2020-2021 School Year Special Education Consortium agreement. • Approved the Southeastern Wisconsin School Alliance (SWSA) Agreement for the 2020-2021 school year. • Approved the acceptance of 50 open enrollment students, (32 seats plus 18 tuition waiver students), created a waitlist

for 22 students at 4K, waitlist 1 student at grade 6, waitlist 2 students at Grade 9, denied 4 students due to the program they applied for being closed (special education), denied 1 student due to an expulsion and denied 35 students due to lack of space at the following grade levels: 5 Year old Kindergarten, Grades 1, 2, 5, 7, 8 and Grades 10-12.

• Approved the resignation of Ku Xia – Chinese Teacher at PHS. • Received a legislative update. • A COVID-19 planning update and reentry plan was presented and discussed. • The meeting adjourned into closed session commenced at 8:28 p.m.

At the May 18, 2020 Board of Education meeting…

The Class of 2020 Valedictorian Maria Christine Pesick and Salutatorian Kendall J. Terhaar answered questions from Board members and spoke about their experiences while attending Pewaukee School District. They introduced their parents who also spoke about their child’s experiences and staff that shaped their child’s future.

Approved the Career and Technical Education Curriculum as presented. Mike Dietrich and Ryan Schmidt of CG Schmidt shared a construction update. Danielle Bosanec and teachers Melissa Schulz, Abby Bartz, and Angie Fulfer shared the math curriculum revisions. Approved the Budget amendment dated May 18, 2020 for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2020. Approved the Resolution to Authorize the transfer of Funds, The Establishment Of An Escrow Account With Respect

To And The Defeasance Of Certain Of The General Obligation Promissory Notes, Dated March 5, 2012 And The General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Dated February 27, 2017.

Approved the hire of: Amanda Chack (Associate Principal at Pewaukee Lake Elementary School) Kathy Krupinski (Grade 1 Special Education) Katharine Berryman (Special Education at Horizon and Pewaukee Lake Elementary School) Kelly Brennan (.50 FTE Guidance Counselor) Katie Gubbins (Speech & Language) Teresa Breitrick (English Language Learner Teacher) Marissa Woodward (Science Teacher at Pewaukee High School) Leah Zacharias (.50 FTE Early Childhood Teacher at Pewaukee Lake Elementary School) Wendi Lewis (English/Language Arts Teacher at Asa Clark Middle School) Sheila Homberg (as .20 FTE Library Media Specialist)

Approved the 2020-2021 Preliminary Operating Budget and Staffing Plan. Approved the check registers and financial report. Danielle Bosanec along with Teachers Scott Roehl, Mike Spoerke, Randy Staus, and Ryan Demers shared the Career

and Technical Education curriculum. Approved participation with the Waukesha County Area Schools Cooperative Consortium. Approved the Early College Credit Application for one student as presented. Approved the Interim Busing Contract with Riteway as presented. Accepted the resignations of Matt Kashdan, World Language Teacher, Kristen Aaltonen, PHS Business Education

STUDENT-BOARD REPRESENTATIVE REPORT – Student Board representatives Khadijah Dhoondia and Noah Sobczak shared their report.

OATH OF OFFICE - Officer Buddenhagen administered the Oath of Office to Larry Dux and Brian Kammers. Congratulations on their re-election to the Board.

Approved the check registers and financial report. Approved the CESA #1 contract for the 2020-2021 school year as presented. Approved the Employee Handbook Recommendation of continuity of payroll for non-exempt staff as presented. John Gahan shared the Budget and staffing plan proposal for the 2020-2021 school year. This item will be

considered/possibly approved at the May 4, 2020 Board meeting. John Gahan shared an update on the busing contract. More details will be provided at the May 4, 2020 Board

meeting. Accepted the resignations of Yan Peng, Chinese Teacher, Jen Metzer, Reading Interventionist and Katie Ellington,

English and NHS Advisor. Approved the hire of:

Rachel Mudek Tombari as a Grade 6-12 Reading Interventionist at Asa Clark Middle School and Pewaukee High School

Alli Olson as an Art Teacher at Pewaukee High School Lauren Wiske as a grade 6-12 math interventionist Nicole Brinza as an English Teacher at PHS Mikaela Zolecki as a Special Education Teacher at Horizon Elementary School Brian Siegel as Principal at Pewaukee Lake Elementary School

Proposal topics were discussed to submit by the June 26th deadline for the 2021 Wisconsin School Board Association Convention.

Larry Dux volunteered to serve as the CESA Delegate at the Annual Convention that is planned for May 19, 2020. A legislative update was shared. The meeting adjourned at 8:47 p.m.

STUDENT-BOARD REPRESENTATIVE REPORT – Student Board representatives Khadijah Dhoondia and Noah Sobczak shared their report.

Candice Bentley-Held shared the Qualtrics program and dashboards. Danielle Bosanec, Brian Siegel and Robin Wilson presented the 4K experience. Approved 17 Early College Credit applications for semester one of the 2020-21 school year as presented. Dr. Mike Cady provided a pandemic/preparedness update. Moved to continue to pay non-exempt staff in full, in accordance with their work calendar until April 20th. Moved to continue to pay Riteway invoices at 90% through April. Approved changes to policy 7100.08 Virtual Attendance at Board Meetings and policy 7100.05 Board of Education

meetings. Approved the resignation of Teacher Alyssa Voigt and the resignation of Teacher Rocko (Chad) Wells. Approved the hire of Ben Lamp as Creative Coach at Asa Clark Middle School and Pewaukee High School. A legislative update was shared. The meeting adjourned at 9:22 p.m.

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING - Shawn Prell, Randy Staus and Ryan Demers presented on development of a School Store/Cafe intended to provide students with an authentic learning experience in the area of Business, Culinary Arts, Web Design and Marketing. These staff members have been working with District Administrators and cultivating ideas from current Business students to create a plan for implementation in the 20-21 school year.

Approved the check registers and financial report.

Officer Buddenhagen & Sergeant Wright shared a School Resource Officer update. Accepted the retirement of Kathy Anderson, Teacher. Accepted the resignation of Whitney Clark, Paraprofessional. Approved the hire of:

Ashley Wolf as a 1.0 FTE English Language Arts teacher at Asa Clark Middle School Brian Klink as a 1.0 FTE Math Teacher at Asa Clark Middle School Casey Boehm as a 1.0 FTE Science/Social Studies Teacher

At the February 17, 2020 Board of Education meeting…

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING - HORIZON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Krystle Stingle and a group of students (Hanna Cutler; Grace Roncke; Caleb Cady; RJ Ruiz) presented on

disciplinary literacy in the band and music program. Work Camp Facility/Memorandum of Understanding. Dr. Cady shared the Group Cares Work Camp information.

The Board offered feedback and consensus on moving ahead with planning to host the Work Camp participants at Pewaukee High School in July of 2021. This item will be brought back to the next meeting for consideration and final approval.

Approved an extension of the existing lease between the Pewaukee School District and Paul Road Properties, LLC for the term to continue through August 31, 2023.

Accepted the retirement of Marty Van Hulle, Director of Learning & Leadership. A legislative update was shared. The Board moved into closed session at 8:05 p.m.

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING – PEWAUKEE LAKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Teachers Trish Zahn, Cate Riekoff, and Katie Moede along with students Elsa, Quinn and Mariyah presented about the use of Seesaw in the classroom to foster student learning as well as enhance parent interaction with classroom activities.

the Pewaukee School District through fiscal year 2022. Approved the American Red Cross Facility Use Agreement with Pewaukee School District as presented. Accepted the resignation of Shay Husslein, Early Childhood Teacher. Approved the retirement of:

Lauree Frett Cheri Frankwick Tom Felser Daina Mundt

Approved the limited term hire of Christina Callies as an English Teacher at Pewaukee High School and the limited term hire of Katherine Berryman as a Special Education teacher at Pewaukee Lake Elementary School.

WASB Convention & Delegate Report. Board members provided an update from the convention. Steve Dankert shared a Delegate report.

Board members & Dr. Cady shared a legislative update. The Board discussed a Board perception survey and follow up from the January 20th Learning Session. The meeting adjourned at 9:35 p.m.

John Stangler and John Gahan shared the Long Range Capital Project Plan. Discussion and questions. Declared a total of 32 open enrollment seats available at the following grade levels for 2020-2021: 4K- 10 seats;

Grade 3- 5 seats and Grade 4- 7 seats; Grade 6- 5 seats; Grade 9- 5 seats. Closed the following programs due to lack of space: Project Succeed; Preschool Phonology; Early Childhood;

Speech and Language Grades EC-12; Learning Disabilities Program K-12; Emotional Behavior Disabilities Programs K-12; Multi-categorical K-12.

Approved the District practices for open enrollment that the Board of Education will accept full time open enrollment applications of students in the upcoming application period who are currently included in the count of occupied spaces & attending Pewaukee School District. The Board of Education will also accept full time open enrollment applications of siblings of students who are currently enrolled and included in the count of occupied spaces and are attending the Pewaukee School District and at a grade where available space has been determined.

Approved the changes in the Custodian and Secretary Employee Addendums for language pertaining to the accrual, approval, and use of Compensatory Time.

Accepted the resignation of John Kocher, Paraprofessional at ACMS and the resignation of Rebecca Litscher, a special education paraprofessional at PHS.

Approved the hire of Emily Fell as a limited term Reading Interventionist. Approved a leave request from Horizon Teacher Lauren Bartel. Received a legislative update. The meeting adjourned at 8:52 p.m.

At the December 16, 2019 Board of Education meeting…

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING – PEWAUKEE HIGH SCHOOL - Teacher Mike Callies attended with the following students from his Advanced Speech class: Ava Wille, Christabelle Chukwuma-Ugwu, Sara Kaska, Tea Goodmanson and Mary Rice. These students and Mr. Callies talked about the building goal of more authentic and relevant learning experiences and how this was revamped in the Advanced Speech class. Students shared how they are now heading out of class to find their authentic audiences where they are attempting to Create, Connect and Contribute. This is an excellent example of bringing the Graduate Profile to life.

Approved the check registers and financial report. Approved Amendment #1 to the AIA 133 Agreement between CG Schmidt Inc. and the Pewaukee School District to

establish the Guaranteed Maximum Price of $33,933,825 for the 2018 Facility Master Plan Projects. Accepted the 2018-19 Audit Report. Approved the Early College Credit Application for one student as presented. Approved the 2021-2022 school calendar as presented. Shared the Budget & Staffing Plan Calendar for 2020-2021. Approved the resignation of Carrie Vogt, Paraprofessional at Pewaukee Lake Elementary School. Received an election/candidate report. Received a legislative update. The meeting adjourned into closed session at 8:35 p.m.

At the November 25, 2019 Board of Education meeting…

PLEDGE OF SERVICE - STUDENT BOARD REPRESENTATIVES - Larry Dux administered the pledge of service to Noah Sobczak and Khadijah Dhoondia. Noah and Khadijah spoke a bit about why they wanted to be a Student Board Representative.

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING – ASA CLARK MIDDLE SCHOOL - During the course of the 2019-20 school year Asa Clark Middle School has been implementing Extended Learning Days one time per month. During these days, staff and students engage in learning that extends beyond the content area curriculum and strengthens relationships between staff and students. Through these days students and staff will gain confidence and competence in the graduate profile competencies. Teachers Jeff Patzer, Kathy Anderson, and Maddy Flynn attended with students Tara Goold; McKenna Kimbo and Katelyn Brown.

Approved the check registers and financial report. Approved the Math and Pewaukee High School New Course proposals as presented. Approved the field trip request for students to travel to Duluth, MN from March 4-7, 2020 for the FIRST Regional

Competition and a field trip request for students to travel to Detroit, MI for the FIRST Regional Competition from April 29-May 3, 2020.

Accepted, for purposes of board review at this meeting, the written drill evaluations submitted by the principals under section 118.07(4)(cp) of the state statutes from Pewaukee Lake Elementary, Horizon Elementary, Asa Clark Middle School & Pewaukee High School as listed.

Approved the early college credit applications for Spring of the 2019-20 school year for thirteen (13) students as presented.

Approved the retirement of Sherri Ronge, English as a Second Language Teacher as presented. The meeting adjourned into closed session at 8:04 p.m.

At the November 11, 2019 Board of Education meeting…

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING – HORIZON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Pete Gull introduced Adam Ebbole, Teacher, who came to speak about the 6th grade Physical Education unit where students work in cooperative groups to create a game unit based on components of fitness. The students then teach the games to other grades. It was terrific to see students both creating and teaching in action.

Approved the check registers and financial report. Approved a field trip request for students to travel to UW-Stout for a Recipes for Excellence

Competition from February 12-13, 2020. Danielle Bosanec shared the Math & Pewaukee High School New Course proposals. Discussion and

questions. This item will be placed on for consideration and possible approval at a future meeting. Danielle Bosanec, Rachel Yurk, Anthony Pizzo, Brian Sniff, Pete Gull, and Robin Wilson presented

their Continuous Improvement Report from the 2018-19 school year for their respective department or school.

The Board discussed continuing to donate to the Pewaukee Scholarship Fund. Both the Administrative Team and the Board have been making donations to the Pewaukee Scholarship Fund for over ten years and each year one or two scholarships have been given to Pewaukee High School students at the Honors Banquet in May.

At the October 28, 2019 Board of Education meeting…

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING – PEWAUKEE LAKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Brian Siegel introduced teachers Erica Falk, Steph LaBlanc, and Leah Cooper who presented on creating the least restrictive learning environment for their first grade inclusion classroom. Their focus has been utilizing blended learning to create personalized learning opportunities for all students. We also had two students join us: Brennan Roth and Taylor Guillette. These students shared their experiences.

Approved the career and technical education and middle school course proposals as presented. Approved the Pewaukee Dance Team Nationals field trip for students to travel to Orlando, Florida from

February 27, 2020 to March 2, 2020. Colin Jacobs provided an introduction to the Continuous Improvement Reports. John Gahan, Anthony

Strancke, Miranda Kozlik and Colin Jacobs shared the Continuous Improvement Reports for the 2018-19 school year for their respective departments.

Approved the Revised (Original) Budget for 2019-20 as presented. Approved a tax levy of $27,769,261 for all funds for 2019-20 as described. Approved a resolution of temporary borrowing with BOK Financial Securities in an amount not to exceed

$3,000,000 pursuant to section 67.12 (8)(A)1. Steve Dankert was selected unanimously to serve as the school district’s WASB delegate. This year’s Delegate

Assembly will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, in Ballroom AB on the first floor of the Wisconsin Center at 1:30 pm.

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING – SUMMER SCHOOL - Jodi Swanson presented the 2019 summer school report along with a video highlighting the programs and some students.

Approved the check registers and financial report. Approved the field trip request for students to travel to the University of Chicago, IL from February 6-9, 2020 and to

the Model United Nations at Michigan State University from March 13-15, 2020. Approved the field trip request for students to travel to Stevens Point from November 10-12, 2019 for the FBLA Fall

Leadership Conference. Danielle Bosanec shared the Career and Technical Education course proposals and Anthony Pizzo shared the Asa

Clark Middle School course proposals. Danielle and Anthony along with teachers Ryan Demers, Scott Roehl, Mike Spoerke, and Pete Colwell were available to answer questions. These proposals will be placed on the October 28, 2019 meeting agenda for consideration.

Candice Bentley-Held presented the Data & Assessment Report for the 2018-19 school year. Approved the resignation of Elizabeth (Libby) Lama. Approved the leave of absence request for Rheanna Jaske as presented. The meeting adjourned at 9:38 p.m.

At the September 23, 2019 Board of Education meeting…

• SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING- PEWAUKEE HIGH SCHOOL - Principal Brian Sniff introduced Mia Ammon, our foreign exchange student to Board members who had the opportunity to ask her questions. Mia is a 17 year old from Brugg, Switzerland a small village near a large city. Mia is staying with the Grabowski family who has a 4th grader at Horizon. Mia is a member of the cheerleading team this fall and her favorite subjects in school are psychology, science and history but she is excited to try new courses while in Pewaukee.

• Mike Dietrich with CG Schmidt led a tour of the campus and answered questions about the construction process. Nathan Schieve, Agatha Vonderberg, both of Bray Architects shared final renderings with the Board and answered questions.

• John Gahan shared an enrollment update. The Third Friday count was still being finalized and more information will be given at a later date.

• Approved the Board of Education and Superintendent Goals for the 2019-20 school year. • The Board discussed the potential use and/or creation of district managed social media accounts for the Board of
