1. Chairman Able Castro called the meeting to order and Steve Beck provided the invocation. 2. The meeting host and sponsor, Dr. Michelle McCord with Frenship ISD, welcomed the group. 3. The Ambassador of the Month, Vickie Jantzen, Salted Oaks was recognized 4. The March Business of the month, Aspen Creek and Managing Partner Marco Vasquez was

2. Approval was made with a motion by Jeremy Barbee and a second by Dana Madison. Treasurer’s report

2. The group was updated on the Audit process.

Old Business 1. CEO Eddie McBride updated the group on the Get Out the Vote efforts for the May 4 election. 2. 2019 TRC Chairman Casey Doyle updated the group on the progress of the TRC. 3. McBride updated the group on the Association Health Plan/West Texas Employer Health Plan.

Strategic Planning Update

1. Chairman-Elect Gabe Vitela updated the group on Strategic Plan Objectives as of March 2019. 2. The group was reminded of the date for the 2019 Strategic Plan.

New Business

1. Executive Vice President Norma Ritz Johnson presented a Resolution to support I-27 Recycling/Public Scales Facility Clean-up.

a. Approval to support the City of Lubbock and Lubbock County in seeking a remedy for this community issue was made with a motion by Shelly Nutt and a second by Jeremy Barbee.

2. Johnson updated the group on the State Legislative Session. CEOs Report

1. CEO Eddie McBride reviewed Bylaws Article IV, V and VI. 2. McBride updated the group on the U.S. Chamber Accreditation process 3. McBride updated the group on the Amarillo Matters PAC and asking the board to sign a

petition in support of the TTU Vet School. Chairwoman’s Comments

1. Chairman Abel Castro updated the group on various calendar items. 2. Castro reminded the group of the Switzerland Trip in October 2019.

Business Advocacy—Vice Chairwoman Dana Madison Issues Management • The Chamber is working with our U.S. Senators, Congressman Jodey Arrington, and Texas

Attorney General Ken Paxton to urge the Department of Justice to file for a stay and then toappeal the decision of a D.C. District Court in State of New York v. DOL that remanded tothe USDOL regulations allowing for Association Health Plans.

• The Chamber circulated a joint letter to West Texas chambers to add their signatures to besent to the Texas Legislature in support of the TTU School of Veterinary Medicine.

• The Chamber earlier this month sent a letter of support for Lubbock County and the City ofLubbock’s efforts in the Texas Legislature regarding funding toward resolving theabandoned recycling facility on North I-27.

• The Chamber has compiled a list of bills we are tracking as the 86th Legislative Sessionprogresses, and this is available at LubbockBusinessVotes.com. Positions that have beentaken on various bills include support, oppose, or monitoring. Positions reflect that of bills asfiled only, not committee substitutes.

Agriculture & Natural Resources • The Committee this month received an update on Texas Department of Agriculture programs

and activities from Regional Rural Affairs Director Carol Faulkenberry.• The Salute to Ag Luncheon was March 19 at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. Dr. Guy

Loneragan, Texas Tech Office of the Provost, was the featured speaker covering the latestdevelopments with the Texas Tech University Vet School effort.

Transportation • The Chamber will host a news conference to endorse Proposition A, the bond measure for

road improvements, on the May ballot. Superintendents for Lubbock Cooper and FrenshipISDs Keith Bryant and Michelle McCord will participate, and the Lubbock Association ofRealtors, Lubbock Apartment Association and West Texas Homebuilders Association havealso been invited to participate.

• The Committee is meeting jointly with the Government Relations Committee to get updatedinformation on the upcoming Lubbock County bond measure for road improvements.

• We are continuing to work to reach out to major airlines serving Lubbock to coordinate visitsincluding the Chamber and Lubbock Mayor Dan Pope.
