A word from the President
Once again things have been going smooth
this year for the trails to open. We just had our second board meeting for
the year. At this point there are no big changes planned for the trail. Larry
is just starting to talk with the landowners. Be sure to check Kim’s article
for information and the calendar for all of our activity dates. She has many
great activates planned for the year. Our next event is our annual Hallow-
een party / Fall Membership meeting October 23rd. followed by a trail
cleaning day November 5th. Check out inside for more details! Hope to
see everyone at the upcoming events!

Welcome back Northside Snowmobile Club members.
Hope everyone had a good summer. I am looking for-
ward to the change of seasons. Fall, with its beautiful
color and cooler weather, reminds us to get those trails
and sleds ready. So when winter shows up its time to
ride. If the almanac is true to form it should be a good
winter for sledding. The club has many fun events again
planned for the 2016/2017 season. Our annual family
Halloween party is next month on October 23 rd at
Crandall’s Pond at 3pm. Please come and enjoy the fall
festivities with us.We will be participating in the Battle
Creek Christmas parade again this year. The theme is
“The Belles of Christmas”. We need volunteers to build
the float and walk in the parade handing out candy. The
annual adult Christmas party in December is always a
fun holiday celebration. Weather permitting the club
will be having a Poker Run in January. If there is no
snow, we will still get together for a euchre tournament. Our annual club trip in February will be to Brimley in
the UP. This is a family trip and encourage families to participate. This is one way children can learn safe driv-
ing skills and proper etiquette when snowmobiling. We have a club ride on Saturday then usually go to supper
together. This is a great time to have fun and relax with other club members. Please refer to the Northside
Snowmobile Club Facebook account or the website account for details of these events. If anyone has any sug-
gestions or comments please let me know. I am always looking for new places to try out for parties and club
destinations. Also if you would like to volunteer for any projects within the club, contact a club committee
member. We can always use the help.
Sounds like fun to me. Let’s get it started!

Land Acquisition
Hello Northside members! Welcome to the 2016 snowmobile season! With winter only a couple of months
away this could be a year with old fashioned cold and lots of snow. It has been kind of lean the last several
years, but what goes around comes around! As land acquisition chairman it is my responsibility to get per-
mission from landowners for our private trail network. This must be done before trail clearing and mark-
ing. This is very time consuming but very enjoyable too as I have met with them for many years. There are
always a few new landowners as properties get new ownership. There is lots of work to do before
Dec 1st trail opening so get involved with a committee and meet some new friends.

Safety
We have scheduled a Trail Etiquette interactive class on November 5th from 3:00 pm to around 5:00 at the Ea-
gles on North Capital. This will be after the trail maintenance scheduled that day. I would like all those coming
to share their ideas on safe trail riding and I will have as much as I can on current laws. Please RSVP
by October 30th so we know if there is enough interest for the class. You can contact Terry or myself to
RSVP. Contact info is as follows: Greg Stanley work phone 269-781-3951 or e-mail [email protected] . Terry
Eisen phone 269-209-2630 or e-mail [email protected].
Thanks, Greg Stanley

Publicity/Newsletter
Seems like every year fall hits and I am under the gun for my winter preparations. Wood cutting has been a
priority for me these past few weeks. As I spend time out it in the woods it is evident our trails will need some
serious cleaning as the brush is thick this year despite the hot dry summer! TJ is planning a trail cleaning day
Nov 5th. So please mark you calendar and come out and give a hand. Mrs. Kim has been busy planning the
years’ events also. Check out the calendar for all the details. Some dates are still up in the air so look for that
info in the future newsletters.
Happy Riding!
