WALK FOR LIFE WASHINGTON DC
Over 500,000 people showed up for the 41 Walk for Life in Washington DC.
Robert MacPherson (AFP) stated that thousands of marchers braved freezing temperatures in Wash-ington on January 22, 2014, to demand an end to abortion in the United States, with Pope Francis tweeting his support.
“I join the March for Life in Washington with my prayers, “said the pontiff, who last year denounced abortion as a symptom of today’s “throw-away culture.”
Others added: “Even just seeing pictures of what abortion is—it’s tearing a life apart.”
“Abortion hurts everyone.”

CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
FACILITY NEEDS
Page 3
Cornerstone Christian Academy came on Martin Luther King’s birthday bringing blankets, baby soap, socks, and baby clothes to replenish First Things baby store. They helped to inventory the items too. Now our expecting Moms and Dads can attend classes and use their Mommy Money and Daddy Dollars to go shopping and get all the necessary items for their new bundle of joy!
With all the rain our area has experienced, our facility has taken a hit. Our trim on the dormers and doors is showing damage now.
Specifically:
• Replace a piece of trim that fell from the building from the back dormer. It is rotten as well as the piece adjacent to it.
• The entry doors trim needs to be replaced. There is some caulking that needs to be done as well.
• The tar has worn away from one pipe at the roof. This is allowing rain to seep through and has rotted the soffit. So now the soffit needs replacing.
• The front of the building faces north, so it does not receive sun. Mold is an issue. The front walkway is black. Perhaps you have a pressure washer and just love to use it.
We could use your time and talents to help spruce up the facility. If you would be able to help with any one of these problems, please call Susan at 334.260.8010 or email at [email protected].

GRANT FROM WORKING WOMEN’S HOME ASSOCIATION
On January 14, the Working Women’s Home Association invited the recipients of 2014 grants to gather at Trinity Presbyterian Church to receive their checks. Menelle Weiss, President and Helen Wells, Future President presented the checks.
Menelle Weiss gave a brief history of the group of women. Working Women’s Home Association was founded in 1881. These women have worked to impact children and youth, parenting, life skills development, health and well-being, early intervention, low income families, cultural enrichment, youth at risk, education, domestic violence, work skills and the elderly for 133 years. The group is governed by a Board of 14 members that meets four times yearly.
The funding Sav-A-Life received will go to purchase lateral filing cabinets and a fix-ture for literature and brochures.
THE WALL: Rebuilding a culture of life in America
and ending abortion as we know it At a time when our social and political structure is aligned
against the most innocent among us, The Wall brings tremendous hope and vision. Though we’ve experienced a generation of tragedy following the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, The Wall reminds us that it is often when hope seems lost that God orchestrates extraordinary victory through ordinary people. In addition, The Wall shows that surprisingly, today is the perfect time for creating a new culture of life in America. Get ready to be inspired; and be prepared to take your place building The Wall.
The Wall is written by Kirk Walden, the Sav-A-Life Banquet speaker in November. We have several copies at the office if you would like to borrow one. You can also purchase The Wall online. www.wallofhopechallenge.com
Together, we can build The Wall of Hope!

ED Commentary
LOVE: AN ACTION VERB WORTH USING Some will tell us that the motivation behind First Choice Women’s Medical
Center is “anti-abortion” or “pro-life,” and there is truth in this. There’s no question; we are a life-affirming entity. But there is something deeper, stronger. The word I’m looking for is “Love.”
We are a life-affirming ministry not just because life is an excellent choice or because it is the right choice. We believe in life because we love. With love as our motivation, we want more for our clients. We want—as Jesus offered us all—abundant life for those we see. We desire love for each of them to love fully, and to be loved completely.
We want every decision a client makes to be couched in love for themselves and for others, including the child she may be carrying. We believe that if we love her first, and love her with actions, she is much more likely to project this love in her decision making process.
Jesus was asked about the “Greatest Commandment.” His response was all about love: “You shall love the Lord God with all your heart, and with all of your soul and with all your mind,” Jesus said. Then, he added another thought; “And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Our highest calling here is to love God with everything within us. But to carry out that calling well, we must love our neighbors—each person who comes in our door as ourselves.
Love. It is not a feeling; not a warm, fuzzy moment when we feel tingly inside. No, love is an action. Love takes time with those we see. Love listens. Love reaches out. Love offers hope. And love never gives up. Love is why we do what we do, every day. If this is your calling, join us, because love always has room to grow, too.
