• AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.
• AVID is an in-school college readiness program for grades 9-12 that prepares students for college eligibility and success.
• AVID places students in advanced classes with support.
• AVID is for all students, but it targets students who meet specific criteria.

CHHS AVID Program
CHHS AVID is a four-year commitment. Each year emphasizes developmental instruction to preparing students for academic success and college acceptance. 9th- High school adjustment and goal
setting/four-year plan development
10th- Major and career exploration 11th- Admission tests and refining college options 12th-University admission process AVID students are supported by a Site Team consisting of a coordinator, administrator, a counselor, AVID elective teachers, subject area teachers, college tutors. All trained in AVID methodologies and strategies that serve a vital resource within the AVID elective class.
