COMMODORE – June 2012  The season we've all been waiting for is finely here with members working

through out the yard getting their boats ready for the water. Just remember to clean up after yourself, and don't forget to pick up your blocks and stands. Our Yardmaster Doug Balakier has been doing a fantastic job keeping the yard clean and organized. Don't add to his work by making him look for you to pick up what you left behind. When you have someone work on your boat be sure they check in at the bar and show the correct insurance. You should also be there as the work is being done. Opening Day was a great success. I was pleased to see such a large turnout. Ron Nagy and Sean Walsh did a wonderful job organizing the event and rounding up so many volunteers, who I'm sure did not need their work hours. Thank you all. This is also the start of many weekend parties on the docks. Have fun, be

safe, and please be courteous and make way for your fellow members who are just passing by. Hope to see you at the first Dock party of the season on June 16Th.Until next time. Jerry TomaszewiczCommodore M.Y.C.

From the Vice Commodore; As many of you know, A Dock is nearly complete thanks to the dedication of a handful of our

members who tackled this very difficult project over 7 weekends and counting, not to mention the months of planning! I realize that this project was and continues to be an inconvenience for some, but if we had better participation from the membership we could have completed this project in half the time and installed the cleats etc. while the deck was open. At the risk of forgetting any of the dedicated members who helped out I’ve decided not to mention any of the crew at this time but they will be acknowledged formally at a function the Commodore and I are planning on their behalf in the very near future. If you were not able to help out for

The Mariner June 2012

Ladies AuxiliaryHello Miamoguers, Time is moving fast, it is June already. We need more members to participate in club events. We have great food and fun parties. Our 19th Annual Ladies Night Out was another profitable Event for our MYC Children and The Center for Women & Families (Battered Women). Thank you to all who donated for the cause. Thank you to Walter Peterson, Chris Smiley, Gary Dayton and Sue Lasky for cooking the dinner for the Ladies Night Out. Thank you Phil's Flowers (Phyllis & Frank Rega) for donating flowers every year for that event. Also, Ronnie Nagy & Chris Smiley for being my waiters and Robert Mastrione, Adrian & Jean for helping me set up the room. Awesome!! Sean Walsh also for letting us use the parking lot across the street too. The MYC Auxiliary volunteers countless work hours for all of our Events and they have proven time and time again that they truly are team players and love our club. MYC is very fortunate to have such dedicated members of the MYC Ladies Auxiliary. Check out our website www.miamogue.com to view the Auxiliary Members. You can also view all the Events going on at the club on website too. We have a Boat Grill Raffle going on right now. Tickets are at the bar, 3 tickets for 5.00 and 7 tickets for 10.00. The drawing will be on June 30th, Saturday. Buy tickets to support our kids parties. Also, our TV Raffle is going on and that drawing will be at the Family Outing on September 8th. See flyers for details. There is a Meet & Greet invitation at East End Yacht Club for the Auxiliary Members, it is on June 14th, Thursday at 6:30 pm. Any auxiliary members interested in attending with me, please let me know by June 6th. The will be serving a casual dinner to Auxiliary members from neighboring clubs free of charge. Happy Anniversary to John & Irene Gaglione: June 8th Congrats to Phil & Georgeanne DaCosta on their new baby girl Ava Julia-Louise. We all love you. Be Safe and Enjoy our boating season 2012.
