Board Retreat & Government Update
Much discussion and planning were the highlights of the Chamber Board Retreat held last month. We are excited and anxious to get on with the work of helping Berea’s business community to be as successful as possible. Committee Chairs are in place and I encourage each of you to get involved in one or more projects of interest to you. Those of you who were unable to attend the January meeting featuring our Local Government Update missed a rare opportunity to hear from and ask questions of members of the Berea City Council. We heard reports from Cora Jane Wilson, Steve Caudill, Jim Davis, Bruce
Fraley, Tom Schultz, Ronnie Terrill and Billy Wooten. Councilman Jerry Little was reportedly out of town attending a meeting of the Frankfort Plant Board to hear discussion about the KY Municipal Energy Agency. There were nearly 100 attendees at our meeting including representatives from both Congressman Andy Barr’s and Senator Mitch McConnell’s offices. In addition to hearing from Council members we enjoyed networking and a delicious meal catered by Jim and Brenda Upton. Upcoming are the Rook Tournament, Nola Newman, Linda VanWinkle and their committee are hard at work planning that event. The first meeting of the year for Jennifer Napier and the MadRock Duck Derby Committee has also been scheduled held and the Berea Magazine is getting closer to publication for 2018. We would love to include pictures and information shared by the membership, so if you have anything you would like included, submit it to the Chamber office as soon as possible. Join us at 8 a.m. on February 13th for coffee and refreshments as Quality Inn & Suites sponsors and hosts our February Coffee & Networking Meeting. Remember, the more you put into your Chamber membership the more you’ll get out of it. Blessings,
Teresa

New Logo for the Berea Chamber
As we start the new year, we are excited about the oppor-tunity to unveil a new logo for the Berea Chamber of Com-merce. You will see it being used throughout this newsletter, while a few variations are included at the bottom of this page. Last fall our Communications Committee reviewed numerous options for a new logo. We wanted something modern, flexi-ble and one that emphasized the chamber of commerce as we undertake a rebranding process for the Berea Chamber of Commerce. During our annual Board Retreat last month, the logo was presented and approved unanimously by the Chamber Board of Directors. Our own Kevin Slemp, Pastor at the Berea Baptist Church, a Chamber Board member and Co-Chair of the Communica-tions Committee developed the new logo, which will be inte-grated into our marketing tools during the coming year. In the coming weeks, we plan to use the new logo for some exterior signage here at the Peoples Bank Annex to help visi-tors find our Chamber office, located at 424 B Chestnut Street. We also have a great deal of work to update our website and the numerous flyers promoting our programs and services, so be patient as we roll out the new logo. If you routinely utilize the Chamber logo on your marketing tools, we can provide the image to you upon request. Just call or email the Chamber office and we can email you the file. Sincerely,
David
