Brief

Apply a range of research methods in the investigation of issues, practices, practitioners and companies relating to your own particular area of study. This should culminate in the design and production of a Case Study in the form of a book (or print based delivery), interactive DVD or web site.

Concept

This publication is in the form of a book that explains my methodology by using the brief Apulia as a case study. This is because it is a comprehensive brief, so fully illustrates my design process. It involves a range of research methods and influences including studios of interest and guest speakers that have impacted on this brief and others throughout the year.

Format

Secondary research into book formats was useful to decide what form the publication would take. The text was printed on inserts to allow full pages of images, and also due to time constraints. The cover uses the same stock as was used in the food trays that were made for the Apulia brief in order to maintain brand consistency. It also represents the fact that sustainability is considered in my practice.

Content

The content of the book is image led, to visually illustrate my design process. It is supported by design studios work to show how the work produced this year has been influenced.

Creation

The book was printed and then bound by hand to represent the fact that hand crafting is a key part of my practice. It was perfect bound to allow for the involvement of inserts.
