make a gift. make an impact.A member of The Texas State University System
Fellow BoBcats
we are in the middle of the most exciting time in texas state history. From the hiring of football coach Dennis Franchione to the impending move to the western ath-letic conference and the Football Bowl subdivision, life is changing rapidly for the maroon and gold.
Reaching this point took hard work and dedication from everyone at texas state, from the top administrators to the student body. But the work isn’t done. Now we have to get ready to compete at the highest level.
that’s where you come in. we need more and more donors, former students, friends and fans of texas state athletics to make a financial commitment and join the Bobcat club. You’ll get some amazing benefits, and you’ll also know that you’ve done your part to support scholarships for our 410 student-athletes and help them to achieve greatness in the classroom and on the play-ing field.
the entire texas state athletics family is grateful for everyone’s help in reaching this moment in our 112-year history, and we’re looking forward to reaching even greater heights in the coming years.
eat ’em up, cats!Dr. larry teis, Director of athletics
In fall 2012, Texas State’s Athletic Department will take the biggest leap in its history, as the Bobcats begin play in the Western Athletic Conference.
Joining the WAC will put the university in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and it also will make Texas State a member of one of college sports’ oldest conferences and eligible to compete in bowl games.
The WAC, which includes Idaho, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State and San Jose State, will mark its 50th anniver-sary in 2012 by adding Texas State, UT-San Antonio and the University of Denver.
The Colorado-based conference has an agreement with ESPN to carry football and basketball games through 2017.

“I think we can be competitive in the western athletic
conference pretty quickly. My focus now is giving
texas state a good, solid foundation as we make
this transition. we need to get ready to win the wac,
and we can do that here. I believe that, and that’s
why I came.”

we are comingletter from the athletics director
Boosting financial support is absolutely critical as we prepare to join the Western Athletic Conference in 2012. We need to close a huge gap in both the number of donors and the amount of money raised if we are to rise to the top of our new Division I FBS conference. Your support of the Bobcat Club can help us achieve greatness.
At Texas State, our top priority is the education of more than 410 student-athletes, therefore scholarship support remains our most vital annual need. Our scholar-ship bill will be more than $3.6 million in the next fiscal year alone, which means your financial support for the Bobcat Club is absolutely crucial for us to continue to provide an outstanding Texas State education for our student-athletes.
The Athletic Department’s annual budget for scholarships has grown more than 60 percent in just the last six years.

the cost of excellence
Student-athletes at Texas State excel in the classroom, thanks to support from donors like you. In 2009-10, our student-athletes:
• graduated at a rate of 73 percent • posted a grade-point average of 2.82 • led the Southland Conference all-academic teams, with 25
posting a GPA of 3.00 or higher
The women’s tennis program received the Public Recognition Award from the NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program for the second year in a row.
The Bobcat Club is an organization of alumni, fans, former student-athletes, coaches and friends that provides scholarship opportuni-ties for 410 student-athletes. Your support helps them reach the goal they all set when they come to Texas State — a degree.
Your tax-deductible gift to the Bobcat Club provides you with a range of benefits, including parking, admission to special events and season ticket discounts. It provides funding for Athletic De-partment scholarships, distributed to student-athletes in 16 sports.
The majority of Texas State’s student-athletes never will compete at the professional level. They instead will use the knowledge and skills they acquire in college — while on an athletic scholarship — to become the leaders of tomorrow. In many ways, your donation to the Bobcat Club is an investment in the future.
