Bob Boldon enters his fourth season as head coach of the Ohio University women’s basketball program in 2016-17.

Boldon and the Bobcats had their third 26-win season in program history in 2015-16. Boldon led the `Cats to back to back Mid-American Conference Regular season titles in 2015-16/2014-15. The team had its fourth postseason appearance in program history and its first appearance in the WNIT where it finished in the third round.

The team as a whole saw a 20-win improvement from Boldon’s first season, finishing with a record of 26-7. Boldon finished the season with 62 total wins at Ohio. The Bobcats hold the best record for points in one season in Ohio history with 2,375. Ohio made 312 three-pointers during the season and had 163 blocks, which are both the most in team history. The ‘Cats also held a 12 game winning streak during the season, the second longest in Bobcat history, breaking the record Boldon and Ohio set in 2014-15 which was 10. The Bobcats also broke the record set by the 2014-15 team in three-point field goals attempted with 2,051. Ohio held a 10 game winning streak at the Convocation Center which was third in Bobcat history.

In the 2015-16 season, junior guard Quiera Lampkins was named the 2016 Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-MAC Second Team and the All-Defensive Team. Senior guard Kiyanna Black was named to the All-MAC First Team for the second consecutive season. Senior forward Lexie Baldwin was named All-MAC Honorable Mention and junior forward Jasmine Weatherspoon was also named to the All-Defensive Team.

Black broke the Ohio record for career three-pointers made with 329 and career three-pointers attempted with 995. She also broke her own record for three-pointers made in a season (126) and three-pointers attempted in a season (347). She also broke the record for three-pointers made in an individual game on February 13th, 2016 at Toledo, where she made 10. Weatherspoon broke the record for blocks in an individual game on January 13th, 2016 at Eastern Michigan when she recorded eight.

Boldon and the Bobcats set a program record for most wins (27) in a season in 2014-15. Boldon led the `Cats to a MAC Regular season and Tournament Championship and a birth in the NCAA Tournament, Ohio’s first since 1995.

Ohio University Director of Athletics Jim Schaus named Bob Boldon the new head coach of the Ohio Women’s Basketball Program at a news conference on March 28, 2013. With six years of head coaching experience, Boldon became the 10th head coach in school history.

Boldon came to Athens after spending the last three years of his head coaching career at Youngstown State. The Northeast Ohio native inherited a program which had posted a 0-30 record during the 2009-10 season and turned it into a Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) participant at the end of the 2012-13 season, posting two double-digit win seasons and one 23-win campaign along the way.

Youngstown State’s 2012-13 season was arguably the program’s best in 15 years and included a first-round victory in the WNIT. Boldon led the Penguins to a 23-10 mark (11-5 Horizon) last season en route to earning Horizon League Coach of the Year honors. In his three seasons of rebuilding Youngstown State, Boldon posted a 39-54 (.419) overall record in which included a 19-33 (.365) mark in league play. In six years as a head coach at both the NCAA and NAIA level, Boldon has gone 98-86 (.533).

Boldon, a native of Louisville, Ohio, graduated from Walsh in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. As a student-athlete, he was a two-time All-America selection as a point guard and helped lead the Cavaliers to the Final Four of the NAIA Tournament. A four-year starter, he remains the school record holder in assists (775) while also ranking fourth in scoring with 1,694 points. Boldon was a 2008 inductee to Walsh’s Wall of Fame, and his accomplishments were celebrated as one of the program’s top 50 players in its 50-year history in 2012.

He earned his master’s degree in liberal studies from Indiana in 2003.
