Positive Effect of Anabolic Steroids

• Faster training recovery

• Minimal muscle loss while losing weight

• Increased endurance

The International Federation of Body Builders (IFBB)

• Established in 1946 by Ben and Joe Weider.

• Two founding members were the United States and Canada.

A Growing Federation

• As more people took an interest in professional bodybuilding, more competition needed to be made.

• In 1965, Joe and Ben came up with the first Mr. Olympia competition, were only the very top tier of bodybuilders could compete to see who was the best of the best.

Larry Scott

• The first winner of the Mr. Olympia title.

• Won Mr. Olympia Title 1965-1966 before retiring.

• 5’7”; 205 lbs contest weight.

• Only undefeated Mr. Olympia.

• First and only Mr. Olympia to die.

• Died of Alzheimer's disease on March 8th, 2014 at the age of 75.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

• Born in Austria.

• One of the most renowned Bodybuilders in history.

• Won Mr. Olympia title 1970-1975 and 1980.

• 6’2”; 235 lbs contest weight.

• Went on the be the governor of California.

Lee Haney

• Won Mr. Olympia title 1984-1991.

• Tied with Ronnie Coleman for most titles.

• 5’11”; 248 lbs contest weight.

Dorian Yates

• Won Mr. Olympia title 1992-1997.

• 5’10”; 262 lbs contest weight.

Ronnie Coleman

• Won Mr. Olympia title 1998-2005.

• Tied with Lee Haney for most titles.

• 5’11”; 300 lbs contest weight.

Phil Heath

• Won Mr. Olympia title 2011-2013.

• 5’9”; 240 lbs contest weight.

Drug Testing in the IFBB

• For legal reasons, the IFBB does have to drug test, but the entire system is very shady from an outside prospective.

• Drug testing isn’t advanced enough to catch pro’s that are cycled off.

Conclusion

• The Bodybuilding industry would not be nearly as big as it is today without steroid use.
