Who is EllisDon? Employee owned construction services firm with $2.6billion in revenue for F2011 EllisDon is one of the few construction companies with an active R & D department Offices in all major Canadian cities with 76 active job sites across the country and an expanding international presence
“At EllisDon we rely on our people – pure and simple – and we give them the freedom to think hard about what our clients need to succeed, and all the authority they need to deliver this success in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.” – Geoff Smith, President and CEO
Why Uprising? EX: New Oakville Hospital is $1b project. It will employee approximately ~50 ED employees on the jobsite. For each ED employee there are ~24 subcontractors and consultants who will work on the project.
With 76 active jobsites and corporate support departments knowledge share is a real problem. Uprising is meant to connect ED regardless of jobsite, area office or corporate silo.
Expected Outcome of Uprising Increase knowledge share between jobsites.
Reduce time to find project solutions
Explore innovative solutions to age old construction challenges
Recruiting
Barriers to Innovation Program
Huge cultural resistance to admitting to having a challenge
“With enough time and money we can fix any challenge” “We get paid to overcome challenges” “Why don’t you go to all of the other jobsites, ask them for their challenges and then bring them back to me and I’ll fix them for you”
