The nearby AT Museum is the only museum in the country dedicated to hiking with exhibits, displays, and an indoor hiker lounge. The U.S. Army Heritage & Education Center offers a glimpse into the life of a soldier with the indoor Soldier Experience Exhibit, along with a one-mile outdoor Army Heritage Trail, featuring exhibits and military machinery. The center is also the premier historical research facility for the U.S. Army.
