PRINCIPALS NEWS
Welcome Back
Welcome back to Term Two, I trust that everyone has had a restful
and enjoyable holiday. Thank you to the students, parents and staff who came along to the ANZAC Day march at Maitland Park. This
was the first time students from our school had marched as a part of the 11am ANZAC Day service and it was a great experience for all involved.
Staffing Update:
Miss Devin successfully applied for the permanent classroom teacher position at the end of last term. She also got married in the
holidays and is now Mrs Thackeray. Congratulations!
Mr Craggs will remain on 2C until the end of the year.
Miss Magyar will remain on 3/4M until the end of the year.
Mrs Moore will be working a 4 day week this term, Mr Perry will take KM on Thursdays.
Mrs Price will be working a 4 day week this term, Mr Labecki will take RFF on Fridays.
Mrs Baker is continuing her recovery from surgery and is due to
return to work on Thursday 7th June.
Upcoming Term 2 Programs
This term we are running two very exciting programs:
Mindfulness In-School Program: This is a 16 week program that occurs during class time. The program starts next week. All
students will be given the opportunity to participate in the first lesson. From the second week only students who have paid to participate will be able to take place in lessons.
Mad Food Science Program: This program will run over 2 days (May 21 and 22) and is a great opportunity to learn about healthy eating.
We are planning to run a parent workshop (most likely on the Monday afternoon from 2.30-3.10pm) for interested families.
Please return the permission notes and payment for these programs as soon as possible.
School Student Banking
In the last newsletter I sent a link to complete a survey about
changing our school’s student banking program to the Commonwealth Bank. A parent has volunteered to coordinate the program. As of today a total of 10 surveys have been returned with 90% expressing an interest in participating in the student banking program. The survey link will remain open until the end of next week.

Building and Maintenance Works Update
I am awaiting confirmation of the successful tender for the building works program. I have been notified that once the tender is announced work will commence within 10 days.
Over the holidays some maintenance work was conducted throughout the school, including painting and carpeting of
classrooms. There are a few outstanding jobs that will be completed in the coming weeks, please observe any restricted areas whilst this work is completed.
NAPLAN
All students in Years 3 and 5 will sit the NAPLAN tasks soon. Students need not be overly nervous about these tasks. They aimed
at helping the school identify individual student strengths and areas for development, as well as whole school need. Any parents wishing
to seek clarification about NAPLAN please see Mr Richard before the end of next week. This year our students are completing the
paper test format of NAPLAN.
Tuesday 15th May: Language Conventions (4o min Year 3 & 5) and Writing (40 min Year 3 & 5)
Wednesday 16th May: Reading (45 min Year 3 & 50 min Year 5)
Thursday 17th May: Numeracy (45 min Year 3 & 50 min Year 5)
All tasks will be completed in the morning session.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
All schools in Australia are required to participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability. The
national date collection is an annual collection that counts the number of school students with disability, and the level of
reasonable educational adjustment they are provided with. This national data collection collects information about students with disability in a consistent, reliable and systematic way. The national data collection draws on and reflects the ongoing work teachers and education staff do to support students with disability. If you would like further information about the NCCD, or do not wish for your child to be included in the data collection, please contact the
school. Additional information about the national data collection is available on the Department of Education’s website: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/disability-learning-and-support/personalised-support-for-learning/national-disability-data-collection
