Choir Make Music at the PavilionWaverley Council invited our choir to perform in the newly refurbished Atrium space at the Pavilion last Thursday as part of Make Music Australia Day.This is linked with an international festival that started in France 35 years ago. Thank you Cassy for organising this opportunity for our choir.See Cassy's article below.

School Band ConcertI am looking forward to attending the End of Term School Band Concert on 3 July from 6:15pm-7:30pm. All welcome.

Attendance Bondi Beach Public School is undergoing a review of attendance procedures and it is evident that some practices need to be improved between the school and home.

If your child is away from school and no written justification is sent to the teacher, either by hard copy letter directly to the teacher or email to the school, this absence is recorded as unjustified. Parents have 7 days to send in this explanation otherwise it will be recorded on our system as unexplained.

Recently we have sent home many absence letters to collect these unexplained absences. If you have received a letter for an unexplained absence, please return this along with the explanation by the end of this week, otherwise the absence will remain unjustified.

Late ArrivalsNo child is to arrive late at school without a parent. If your child arrives at school late and is not accompanied by a parent, it will also be recorded as unjustified.

Early drop offsNo child should be in the school grounds before 8:30am unless they are attending The Hive or a scheduled practice eg. band or dance or a community user program eg. netball or chess. This DoE policy is for the safety and wellbeing of every child.

If a student arrives before 8:30am and is found unsupervised, the school will call parents and ask them to come and pick up their child.

Choir News

Choir sing in the pavilionThe BBPS Choir has had a very busy fortnight. Two weeks ago they recorded an anti litter jingle in the Studio at Bondi Pavilion. This a community service that will be part of a local anti litter campaign. The children were extraordinary in their focus and professionalism during the hour and a half of filming and recording.Last Thursday they performed in the newly cleared Atrium space at the Bondi Pavilion. It was a lunchtime concert celebrating Make Music Australia Day, an offshoot of the Fete de la Musique festival that started in France 35 years ago. This is a day to celebrate and perform music in any space possible.

New Child Care Package InformationFrom 2 July 2018, Australia will have a New Child Care Package. Under the new package, the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) will replace the existing Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate. CCS will be the main way the Government assists families with their child care fees.

These changes are far-reaching and will affect the majority of families at the school, whether through kids at The Hive or younger siblings receiving day care.

All affected families should log on to their myGov account and complete an online assessment, which will determine the appropriate level of support. This must be done before 2nd July in order to remain eligible for assistance.

More information can be found here.
