    Introduction

I began working on a new translation of the Bible In 2002 when I beganto teach myself Koine Greek and then Hebrew. I wanted to translate the Biblebecause I do not trust others to do so correctly. The truth is that no Bible

Translator should be trusted completely because the Word of God is soimportant that I believe that one should take the time to learn the originallanguages if possible, but not all have that luxury.

That is why it is good to have many translations so that you can look andsee and judge for yourself. The problem with many modern translationsthough is that they use manuscripts that were created by Arius the antichrist, who did not believe that Jesus Christ was literally the Son of God and soremoved portions of text relating to that. Also, some modern translators tend tolook at the Bible from a scholarly viewpoint and not from religious value. Thismeans that they dont really believe what they are translating.

The King James Version (also known as the Authorized Version) is the

favored and better translation, not in the sense that it is better translated (themodern translations tend to be better grammatical translations) but those whotranslated the King James Version of the Bible believed in the Lord and it isreflected in their work, and they used manuscripts that were not touched byArius.

Now due to easy access to information we have many manuscripts indifferent languages and from different time periods that the King Jamestranslators did not have access to. These include the Dead Sea Scrolls, theGreek Septuagint, the Aramaic Peshitta, and the Chaldees commentary. Inaddition to this there is also the Inspired Version of the Bible that was createdby Joseph Smith Jr. to restore corrupted passages of the scriptures. All of

these works have been utilized in the Bat Tsion Translation.

The Masoretic TextThe Masoretic Hebrew Text is the foundation of the Bat Tsion Bible, as it

is with the King James Version as well as most other versions of the OldTestament. The Masoretic Text was developed in three stages: the first wasamong the Babylonian Jews until either the destruction of the temple (70 AD)or the Second Jewish Revolt (135 AD). The second was from that time to eighthcentury where it was made consistent and more standardized. The third periodwas from the eighth century until the end of the Middle Ages when it wasfinalized.

The Masoretes (for whom the Text is named) created vowel points for thetext so that anyone who could read Hebrew could now read the text.Unfortunately, this was based on tradition, and so it is possible that somewords are not accurate but it is now standardized and is the agreed upon text.

The Dead Sea ScrollsThe Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered between 1947 and 1956. These

texts were created by the Essenes, who were a very strict sect of Jews, considered apostate by the Pharisees. Theses scrolls were made from 150 BCto 68 AD. These scrolls are important because they give us a witness to the

Hebrew text of the Old Testament from a period before the finalization of theMasoretic Text. Some errors and corrections are found in the text. Otherscontain alternate readings that agree with the Greek Septuagint rather thanthe Masoretic Hebrew. Some of these changes are not important but some ofthem are and provide valuable insight into the text of the bible.

The Geek SeptuagintThe Greek Septuagint is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Old

Testament. It is also the Old Testament chosen by the Apostles of Jesus Christ, which is why the New Testament often quotes from the Septuagint. The GreekSeptuagint was possibly started around 100 BC. It was made for Greek

speaking Jews so that they did not have to learn Hebrew. This version isvaluable because it can help us understand what they thought of certainHebrew passages. Since the Apostles used this version it had become theprimary source for early Christian and Catholic bibles.

The Aramaic PeshittaThe Aramaic Peshitta is newer than the other versions but it is an

independent source and therefore is using manuscripts not used by the others.Like the Greek, the Aramaic helps us to understand the current thought of thattime. It is not often different but it has provided important changes that helpus understand certain passages better.

The Inspired VersionThe Inspired Version (also called the Joseph Smith Translation, or JST)

was created by Joseph Smith by revelation from the Lord. Its purpose is tocorrect passages that were altered by early scribes by accident or by evil intent. It is therefore a restoration of original text that had been lost. I have used thefull version of the JST in my translation. In order to make the JST better fitinto my translation I have modernized the archaic forms of words but I did notalter any of the means. An example of this would be that thou arts arechanged to you ares. This does not change the meaning and it helps thereader understand the archaic language.

The Book of IsaiahLittle is known about Isaiah but that he is called the Son of Amotz, who

is unfortunately unknown to us at this time. Isaiah possibly lived around theeighth century BC. His words are called great by Jesus Christ himself:

And now, behold, I say unto you, that ye ought to search these things.Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these thingsdiligently; for great are the words of Isaiah.

    - 3 Nephi 23:1, Book of MormonTherefore I present to you this new translation of the Book of Isaiah in the hopethat you will better understand Isaiah and come to love this book as I have. When I was a quarter of the way through this book I said to myself that it waslike reading out of a newspaper. I know that Isaiah saw our day and his wordsare truly great and beneficial to us.

A note on the name of GodIn Hebrew the name of God looks like this: hwhybut the truth is we do not

know how to pronounce it. It is often pronounced Jehovah or Yahway orYahwah. Some people believe that it is too sacred to pronounce and so insteadsay Lord or God, or if you are Jewish you say Adonai (which means my Lord)or HaShem (which means the Name). I have transliterated it simply as YHWHso that you the reader can decide how to pronounce or read it.

    Book of IsaiahChapter 1

Vision One Israel has no understanding. The Lord will not continue to correct arebellious people. The Lord will bringjudgment upon Israel. The Lord will forgive arepentant Israel. The Lord will eventuallymake things right in Israel and will restoreher to her original condition. The wicked willbe destroyed with their works like fire.

1A vision of Isaiah, son of Amotz that hesaw upon Judah and Jerusalem in the

day of Uzziyah, Yothom, Achaz,Chezqiyah, kings of Judah:2 Hear O heavens and pay attention Oearth because YHWH is speaking!Children I have made great and I havelifted them up, and they have goneapostate from me.3 An ox can recognize his owner and adonkey his masters manger, but Israeldoes not understand and my people donot discern it!4Alas, a sinful nation! A people weighed

down with iniquity! Descendants ofafflicters! Children who bring ruin!Theyforsake YHWH, they treat the Holy Oneof Israel with contempt, they go awaybackward!5How long over this matter will you bestricken? Yet you continue to rebel!Thewhole head is sick and the whole heartis faint.6 From the hollow of the foot even up tothe head there is no soundness, insteadwounds, bruises, and raw wounds. Theyare not pressed and not bandaged andnot softened in oil.7Your land is a desolation, your cities1burn with fire, your farm land strangersconsume before you, and they have

brought desolation upon it, she isoverthrown by strangers!8And a remnant of the daughter of Zionis left, as a tent in a vineyard, as awatchmans shack in a garden ofcucumbers, as a city guarded.9Unless YHWH Sabaoth, had left to usa seed, as Sodom we would havebecome, to Gomorrah we would be like!10 Hear the word of YHWH rulers ofSodom! And pay attention to the Torahof our God people of Gomorrah!

11 Why do you multiply sacrifices?Says YHWH, I have had enough burntofferings of rams and the fat of abusedstall-fed animals and blood of bulls andlambs and goats, I do not desire this!12 When you come in worshiping toappear before my face, who has soughtthis from your hand, trampling mycourt?13 Though you bring fine flour it ismeaningless! Do not continue to bringyour empty offerings! Incense is

loathsome to me!In the new moons andSabbath, and the great day you read atsacred gatherings, I can no longerendure your wickedness and sacredmeetings! I do not eat what has beenobtained wrongfully and taken by force!14Your fasting and rest from work, yournew moons and your festivals my wholebeing hates, it has become a burdenupon me, I am weary of carrying it!Youhave become loathsome to me, I will nolonger pardon your sins!

15And when you spread your hands Iwill hide my eyes from you! Yes, thoughyou multiply prayers, I will not hear, your hands are full of blood, your fingerswith iniquity.

16 Wash yourselves and makeyourselves clean and remove fromyourselves the wickedness of yourdoings from before my eyes, cease yourwickedness!17 Learn to do good, seek justice, make

straight the ruthless, execute the law forthe fatherless, strive for the widow.18 All of you please come to me, and Iwill correct you, YHWH is saying, although your sins have become likescarlet, they shall be white like snow, although they are blood red likecrimson, they shall become like wool.19If you are willing and you obey, thegood of the land you will eat.20And if you refuse and rebel the swordwill devour you for the mouth ofYHWHhas spoken it.21 How has the faithful city Zion becomea whore? She was a fruit of justice, righteousness dwelt in her, and nowmurderers.22Your money has gone away from you;your wine merchants dilute your winewith water!23 Your officials are rebellious andunited with thieves; all of them love abribe and all of them chase after

rewards. They do not execute the law forthe fatherless and the striving of thewidow does not come before them.24 Therefore declares the Lord YHWHSabaoth, the Mighty One of Israel, Alas,I will comfort him concerning hisafflictions and punish his enemies.25And I will return my hand over you,and purge away your impurities makingyou clean and will cause to depart fromyou all that weighs you down.26 And I will return your judges as in

her ancient time and your counselors asin her beginning; after this, you will becalled the City of Righteousness, afaithful city.27 Zion in judgment and mercy will beredeemed and her repentant ones inrighteousness.

28 And will be smashed the rebelliousand the sinners together and those whoforsake YHWH will be destroyed;29 For you will be ashamed of theleaders that you have desired and youwill be humiliated by her sorcery, which

you have chosen;30 For you will be like a terebinth treewhose leaf drops and a garden that hasno water to it,31 And the strong one will become astinder and his work a spark and the twoshall burn together and none shallextinguish it.

    Chapter 2

Vision Two A vision of the last days. All the

gentiles will seek the knowledge of the Lord.Zion and Jerusalem will send out the Torahand word of the Lord. War will cease. Israelwas cast off because of wickedness. Thewicked will hide in bunkers during thejudgment of the Lord. The Day of the Lordsoon comes.

1The word that Isaiah, the son of Amotz, saw upon Judah and Jerusalem:2 And it will come to pass in the lastdays when the mountain of the house of

YHWH will be manifested in the top ofthe mountains and lifted over her hillsand all the gentiles will flow to it.3And a great multitude of people will goand they will say, Come, and let us goup to the mountain ofYHWH, to thehouse of the God of Jacob, and they willinstruct us of His ways and we will go inHis path,And Torah will be sent fromZion and the Word of YHWH fromJerusalem.4And He will judge between the gentiles

and will correct the great multitudes ofpeople who are far off and they will breakdown their tools of war into tools ofagriculture and their spears intopruning hooks and a nation will not liftan instrument of war upon a nation andnot learn war again.5 House of Jacob, come, and let us walkin the light ofYHWH, yes, come for you

taskmaster, each man to his neighbor, and the youth will be loud, actingarrogantly towards the old, and thedespicable toward the honorable.6 For a man manipulates a countrymanin the house of his father, and shall say,A garment you walk by, be our chiefcommander, and let not this ruin cometo pass under your hand.7 He will lift himself up that day to say,Do not make me a 3binder, and in myhouse there is no bread and no4garment. Do not make me chiefcommander of the nation.8 For Jerusalem, she has decayed, andJudah, he has fallen, because theirtongues and their deeds have beenagainst YHWH to rebel before the eye ofHis glory.9 The expressions of their faces dowitness within them, and does showtheir sin to be even as Sodom and theycannot conceal it! Woe to their souls, for

they have rewarded to themselves acalamity!10 Woe to their soul, for they havedevised an evil counsel againstthemselves, saying against themselves,Let us bind the righteous, for he isburdensome to us. Say unto therighteous that it is good with them, forthe fruit of their works they will eat.11 Woe to the wicked! For they shallperish; for the recompense of theirhands shall be upon them.

people, those who guide you are causingyou to wander astray and the way ofyour highway is confused.13YHWH stands up to reprimand, andstands firm to execute judgment of Hispeople.

14 YHWH enters into a judgmentcounsel against the elders of His peopleand the rulers: Why have you burnt upthe vineyard and why is the property ofthe poor in your houses!15What is this to you? What is this toyou! You are crushing my people andthe face of the poor you are grinding, says my LordYHWH Sabaoth.16 And said YHWH: It is because thatthe daughters of Zion are prideful andthey walk turned around, their necksare stretched out! And their eyes arelustful and they walk arrogantly pullingtheir clothing in trains, and they walkwith their feet making noise fromshackles.17AndYHWH will humble the heads ofthe daughters of Zion and YHWH willopen destitution upon them.18 In that day, my Lord, will remove the5beauty and pride of the shackles, and ofheadbands, and of the ornaments,

19And the earrings, and the bracelets, and the veils,20And the paint of their faces, and theankle chains, and the sashes, and thesoul of the house, and the amulets,21 And the sacred rings, and the noserings,22 And the fancy robes, and the coats, and the cloaks, and the purses,23 And the mirrors, and the linenundergarments, and the 6miters, andthe veils.

In this day, he is become thesprouting bud of YHWH, to be beautifuland to be glorious; and the fruit of theearth to be the pride, and to bring

And he built a watchtower inthe middle of it and also he hewed a winepress. And he waited with anticipation toproduce grapes and it producedworthless ones.3And now inhabitants of Jerusalem andmen of Judah please make a judgmentbetween me and between my vineyard!4What else is there to do to my vineyard
