Research• If children read 1 million words

in a year, at least 1,000 words will be added to their vocabulary.

• When books are readily available, when the print environment is rich, more reading is done.

• Access to a school library results in more reading.

(Krashen, 1993)

• People who say they read more write better.

• Children read more when they see other people

reading.(Krashen, 1993)

"I felt like they (Ms. Pringle, Ms. Richardson, & Ms. Wright, the James Madison Teacher) were creative because I wouldn't have thought of that. I was kind of sad because food wasn't involved but everything else was great“.

“I feel it was creative and I loved it! It was different and it helped me pick a very good book, I would not change anything about our "in-school" field trip.“

"I love the trip, it was fun and I like how they made it as a restaurant, how the table was set, and the different things and they set it up all nice...I also like when I found the book I wanted!”
