ABOUT AJInspired by the concept of vine divers from the Pentacost Islanders in Vanuatu, AJ Hackett introduced Bungy to the World by leaping off the Eiffel Tower in 1987 and opening his first commercial Bungy site in the World in New Zealand in 1988. Cairns, the World’s first purpose built Bungy tower was opened in 1990.

30 years on with over 4 million safe jumps (and still counting), AJ Hackett International now operates in Australia, France, Russia, Macau and Singapore, with each site embracing the culture of Bungy and the sensation of personal achievement that comes when one defies gravity.

The Cairns Bungy Tower, standing 140m above sea level is a 50m jump nestled amongst some of the World’s oldest rainforest and overlooking the Great Barrier Reef. Our Bungy cords are all made on-site by our very own Jump Masters ensuring the highest quality standard at all times. Each cord is checked and logged daily against its own unique identifier and are ONLY used for ONE THIRD of their regulated life. Fun Fact: Each cord has a breaking strain of 2.2 tonne!! That is the same as a White Rhinoceros OR the tongue of a Blue Whale OR a Giraffe getting a piggy back from another Giraffe!!
