 Disclaimer and Warning  What is the Boox Buki Project?  Be’ezrat Hashem, The religious community is aware of the need to protect it’s people against the use of the Internet and the dangers of exposure to technology. Many great Rabbis of our time, have already banned the use of the Internet . Unfortunately, there is still a danger for the Jewish boy, as even the oldest computers still have the ability to play video clips, and have no option to block or remove it. In addition, for a small price, one could purchase a memory card, no bigger than a fingernail, on which one could load many hours worth of movies, and then watch them on their personal computer or laptop. A group of developers even went so far as to invent the “Rockbox”, which enabled the possibility of playing movies on personal music players. The Chazal have already said “What can one do in order not to commit a sin”.  On the other hand, one cannot stop or reverse progress, and the use of the computer has nowadays become needed in many aspects of life. Therefore, the “Nook Nuki” project was created. The “Nook Nuki” project gave Yeshiva students, who had to type their “Hidot” but did not want to introduce a computer into their home, a solution. We have developed a new screen technology that simulates the appearance of paper, and does not have the capability to play video files. Indeed, the “Nook Nuki” has received the blessing of the great rabbis of our time, and has been approved by the “הקודש משמרת של ההכשרואת”. It serves, without fear, many learned persons as a tool for their studies.  Recently, the world began to use E­mail services as a substitute for traditional mail. Within seconds, one can send information in any size across the globe, free of charge and without the use of a printer. Many companies now offer the customers the possibility to pay bills via E­mail, and even offer discounts to those who choose to do so. Government agencies also encourage people to contact them in this way. As before, we looked for a clean and safe solution for believers who wish to guard themselves from the potential damages of this period while wishing to utilize the possibilities that the use of E­mail entails. We therefore launched the “Boox Buki”.  Just like the Clean Nook, the Boox Buki uses an electronic ink screen, and therefore does not have the ability to play video. However, as for technical specifications such as screen resolution, lighting, processor speed, memory, dimensions, Hebrew right­to­left support and more, the Boox Buki far surpasses the Clean Nook. The Boox Buki includes many excellent applications for school and work.  Great effort was made to make sure that the network connection will enable one to receive appropriate content and no more. Thus, using the network connection fits the needs of God­fearing people for their religious purposes. The operating system was built in a way that allows access to the internet only via applications that were installed by us, after they were examined and found appropriate for the use of B’nei Torah.

  The system was locked in the most secure way, and there is no way to add new applications to the device, or to open the device to inappropriate content. The device was examined by computer specialists who insured that the Boox Buki cannot be used beyond the applications that were approved and installed.  In case of a system hack (which will only damage the device), if this violation comes to our attention, we are no longer responsible for the device and are not liable for its’ repair. This is our strict condition for selling the device.  We welcome any suggestions or ideas regarding how to use technology without fear.  We hope and pray that we could continue to offer solutions that will allow us to enjoy technology in a way that is appropriate to the values of our holy religion. Our aim is to save our people from the potentially harmful elements that appear frequently and wish to harm the purity and sanctity of our camp. “And our camp was a holy one”.  Incorrect use of a computer can lead to a loss of many hours of work and a great deal of data. It is often impossible to restore such data (except for a professional repair, meant to restore the device to its initial working status). It is therefore important to use the device carefully, and bear in mind that one should not do anything with the device unless one is certain that he knows how. It is for this purpose that this manual was written. We ask that user not trouble us with questions for which answers can be found in this manual. At any rate, we cannot be held responsible for the results of any wrongful use of the device.  For technical support, please call: (732) 901­1280     Technical Specifications: Screen:  High contrast rate 1:12, 1024X758 HD resolution (sharp font display), multi­touch screen (two fingers), capacitive screen composed of conductor strips that sit under the screen and respond to touch.(not sensitive to dirt, very white), special adjustable lighting, screen size 6” (12X6 cm), based on e­ink technology, which is not a normal screen comprised of small lights but a screen comprised of microscopic ink dots. It looks like a real piece of paper, does not tire the eyes after long periods of reading, and looks great under sun light.  Touch:  In order to scroll you need to pull your finger on the screen as if you want to flip a normal paper page. In order to enter continuous scrolling mode without blinking, you should press the two

arrow sign situated at the top right hand side of the screen. You can also zoom in and zoom out by pinching the screen with your fingers.   Memory:  The device hold 6 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded using a micro SD card to up to an additional 32 GB.  RAM Memory:  The device has 512MB of RAM Memory (RAM memory is working memory. The more RAM memory a device has, the more programs that can be opened simultaneously.  Battery:  Lithium ion battery (1700 milliampere) lasts for approximately 30 hours in regular use and approximately 10 hour in intensive use.  Operating System:  Android 2.3.1.  Size:  8.7 mm thick, weighs at 169 grams, 170X117 mm.  Books:  The device comes with approximately 1000 basic books with the option of downloading an additional 40,000 books through the “Hebrew Boox” application. In order to add more space, you can either connect a micro SD card with up to 32 GB    Writing:  Writing is done on screen with an on screen keyboard. You can open and edit document files in Microsoft Office applications, text files in text editor and memo cards.  Applications:  The device comes with many applications, among them applications for writing, studying, trip planning, E­mail,  different banking applications, diary, contacts, business management and more.  Manual:  In order to effectively use the device, it is recommended to read the entire manual.

   Getting Started: Physical Keys: Lock Key: is on the upper right hand side of the device. Use: 1.Press once to lock the device if open or unlock it if locked (the device can also be opened and closed by opening or closing its cover). 2. Press and hold to turn the device completely off if it was on, or turn it on if it was off. When off, the device does not take up battery power, but needs about two minutes to go from off to on. Therefore, we would usually prefer to press the button once, which puts the device in “sleep” mode, saves battery, and turns on  in seconds.  Restart Key: Is at the top of the device (see picture). Use: In case the device is stuck or does not respond to touch, it is possible to press this button in order to completely shut off the device. Use a needle or a pin and stick it in the buttonhole. Press once.  Menu Key: Is on the right hand side of the device (see picture) Use: 1. Press once to go back to the homescreen (the main screen from which you can access your applications. 2. Press and hold to either turn the device lighting on or off.  Back Key: Is on the left hand side of the device (see picture). Use: Press once to return to your previous action. For example, if you pressed a certain function in an application and wish to return to the previous function, you should press this button.  Connections USB slot: Is on the lower right hand side of the device (see picture).  Use: Use this slot to connect you device to a charger or a computer. the smaller side end of the cable should be connected to the device, and the larger end to your computer. Upon connecting your device to a computer, the device will ask you whether or not you want to connect to the computer. Pressing cancel will use the computer as a charger. Pressing ok will allow you to access your device memory via the computer. If you’ve pressed ok, you will see on your computer a drive titled BOOX for you device’s internal memory, and, if you have one, a drive titled “flash drive”, for your SD card. When you wish to unplug, use safe eject first.   Micro SD slot: Is on the lower center of the device (see picture). Use: Use this slot to plug in a micro SD card with up to 32 GB.

  Home Screen Keys Top Row 

  Menu ­ This key is identical to the physical key that is situated on the right. When pressed, it presents a menu bar with additional options for the application you are 

currently using. Pressing this key once again will close the menu bar.  

Normal/Fast Toggle switch ­ Use this switch to toggle between Normal mode and Fast mode. In Normal mode, the device works a bit slower, but display is brighter and more crisp. In Fast mode, the device works fast, but the display is not as sharp. Usually, it is more convenient to use Fast mode, but some applications have keys that are harder to distinguish in this mode, and so Normal mode is needed.  

Clock and Taskbar ­ This button displays the current time. When pressed, it also displays notifications like calendar reminders or application notifications. Use this menu to also adjust the display brightness by pressing + or ­.  

Home ­ Identical to the physical key at the lower middle. This key allows you to go to your homescreen.   Favorite Applications ­   Through this menu you can also access System Preferences by pressing the Menu key and entering your Boox password. It is not recommended to change these settings unless you know what you are doing.  

Applications ­ Is on the the lower left side of the screen. By pressing it, you will see all of the Applications that are on the device. There are four screens that you can swipe through that can display favorite applications. If you wish to go to another screen, simply swipe right or left. To return to the home screen, press the Home key.

   Screen Rotation Control Use: Rotating the screen. In order to flip the screen vertically, press Portrait. In order to flip the screen horizontally, press Landscape. In order to close this application, press Close. After opening this application, we can access it through the clock icon.  Writing and Reading Applications Docs to Go Use: Writing and editing Word, Excel and Powerpoint files. Main Menu 

   displays the recent files that were used. 

 shows files marked with a star. 

 lets you browse through your files.   lets you create a new document.  

 lets you access the Preferences menu.  Local Files ­  

 lets you go to a higher folder level.   lets you choose multiple files in order to copy,

via email (you must highlight the desired files before sending them).   lets you organize your 

file list according to different parameters.   lets you filter out certain documents from your list. Opening an existing file ­ 1. Press the “applications” key.2. Open one of the file explorer applications or use the file exploring function in Word. 3. Find and open the desired file.  Create a new document ­ 1. Press the + key in your application’s homepage. Alternatively, you can open a file explorer, enter the folder in which you wish to create your new file, and then press the + key in that application. 2. Choose one of the following three options: create a Word document, Create an Excel spreadsheet, or create a Powerpoint presentation. 3. Press once on the screen and begin writing.  Toggle writing direction to right­to­left ­ 1. Press the Menu key on your right. 2. Press Format. 3. Press Paragraph. 4. At the top, press the word “Left” and change it to “Right”. At the bottom, press “From left to right” and change it to “From right to left”.

Change font ­  If you wish to write your whole document in a different font, press the Menu key>Format>Font> change to the desired font at the top row. If you wish to change the font of a given word or paragraph, double click that word (if it is a paragraph, now is the time to move your finger and mark the desired section)>press and hold on the word/paragraph>Font>change to the desired font.  Change letter size ­  In order to write in a different font size, press Menu>Format>Font>press the rectangle that is on the right of the words “Font Size”>choose the desired font size. In order to change the size of one word or a section of a written text, double click on the word (if it is a section, now is the time to mark it)>press and hold>Format>Font>press the rectangle that is on the right of the words “Font Size”>choose the desired font size>press OK.    Copy a word/section ­  Choose the word or section you wish to copy (as indicated in the previous section)>press and hold>press Copy/Cut>press and hold on the location in the document in which you want to place the text>press Paste.  Other font options ­ From top to bottom: First rectangle ­ change font. Second rectangle ­ change font size in English. First square ­ bold text in English. Second square ­ Italic text in English. Third rectangle ­ change font size. Third square ­ bold text. Fourth square ­ italic text. Fourth rectangle ­ underscore. Fifth square ­ superscript. Sixth square ­ subscript. Seventh square ­ strikethrough. Eighth square ­ double strikethrough. Ninth square ­ lower case in English. Tenth square ­ higher case in English. Fifth rectangle ­ text color. Sixth rectangle ­ text highlight color.  Saving a document ­ Press Menu>File>Save if you wish to save the current file under its current name. If you wish to save it under a different name, press Save As and write the new file name.

Notes with notifications: Use: Application for creating short documents with the possibility to add notifications. Main Menu: Pressing the Menu key will open the following options: 

 Add new note.   Labels.   Note search.  backup notes on memory.   Retrieve 

notes from memory.   Other options.  Text Menu: When pressing on Menu, the following options will become available: 

●  Edit file. ● Password lock. 

● More options, which includes adding a picture and deleting note.  Text Editor Use: Create and read large .txt files with Hebrew menus. Additionally, text editor can create Hebrew texts that are aligned to the right. This application is capable of opening large files. 

Options:   ­ Save.   ­ Undo.  ­ Redo.   ­ Copy.   ­ Cut.   ­ Paste.  

 ­ Quit.  

Menu: Press Menu and open the Options tab. Options include:   ­ File Options.   ­ Edit.  

 ­ Insert.   ­ Search.   ­ Preferences.  Writer Use: A .txt application for reading and writing large text files. This application includes Hebrew menus and the possibility to write in Hebrew and to align text to the right. The application has advanced search capabilities and text can be copied and pasted within the application and from other applications. Every line in the text is numbered (numbers are not visible upon printing) for quick access. It is also possible to open multiple files. In order to save a document or open an existing document we must use the Writer’s file explorer. When opening the file explorer, we can see at the top of the screen a list of folders. clicking each folder will present its contents. When we save a document, we must leave .txt at the end of the document name. By pressing and holding on any empty space in the document, more options appear.    Text Notes Use: A great application for creating short text files that are saved automatically in the device’s internal memory. 

Main Menu:   Creates a new note.   ­ Searches notes.  

 ­ Saved searched documents.

  Handwritten Notes Use: Handwriting Application.  Forum (Virtual Beit Midrash) Use: An important application that allows you to read and write posts in a technical support forum for Al Levavcha application, Ein Phone devices, Clean Nook and Boox Buki devices. It is also a place to write and share innovations in the Torah for Boox Buki users (virtual Beit Midrash). Press the menu button or any empty space in the application to open the options bar. In order to post questions in the forum you need a username and password. Send us a request via goldbrg@gmail.com and we will supply you with a username and password.   Praying and Studying Applications Al Levavcha Use: Books in text format that can be opened by using iSilo. The application contains approximately 600 books. Before using the application, it is recommended to switch the device to Fast Mode for smooth and free scrolling.  Move through sections: For faster operation, each book was divided into three groups: A,B, and C. In order to move between sections, press either A, B or C. If you are in section A, you can only move to sections B or C, etc.  

 Toolbar: To open the toolbar, press on the bottom of the screen. To close it, press slightly above it.   

 ­ Go to Main Menu.   ­ Move to last action.   ­ Go to Bookmarks. 

 ­ Go to last search result.   ­ Search.   ­ Close document.  Menu: For more options press Menu. The options are: 

 ­ Editing options.   ­ Copying options and preferences.   ­ Application tools, like 

fullscreen mode or automatic scroll.   ­ Go to another location in the document 

   ­ Bookmark options. In order to make a new bookmark, press “add bookmark”, write a bookmark name, press “Add”. To go to the bookmark list, press Menu>Bookmarks.  

Search: In the Toolbar, press  , and write a word or sentence to search.

Letter Sequence ­ If “V” is marked, a letter sequence search will be initiated. If not, whole word search will be initiated. Search entire file ­ If “V” is marked, the search engine will search in all books, but only in the current section (A, B, or C). If not, the search engine will search in the current book in its entirety.   Search direction: If search is executed downwards the device will search from the current position to the end of the document. If upwards, the device will search from the current position to the beginning of the document. You can also search the entire document from top to bottom.  Copy to Word: To copy text from Al Levavcha to Word, press and hold on the beginning of the section you wish to copy. A magnifying glass symbol and a marker will appear. Place the marker at the beginning of the section and tilt your finger slightly to the side. A small square will appear in the middle of the circle. Now, Lift your finger and touch the end of the document you wish to copy. The text will be colored in black and a small menu will open. On that menu, press “Copy”. Afterwards, go to a Word document. Find the place where you wish to copy the text to, press and hold, and click “Paste” on the menu that opens.   Yalkut Yosef ­ An abridged version of Shulhan Aruch Use: An application for studying Yalkut Yosef ­ an abridged version of Shulhan Aruch.  Edited Page Use: A book reading application that supports many formats, such as .txt, mobi (kindle), fb2(.zip), .doc (MS Word), rtf, epub. Furthermore, the application can copy text to word, and by pressing and holding on a word a translation opens.  In order to open an epub file, press on it and then press “read”.  Oriata Use: a database that contains approximately 500 fundamental holy books, with easy to use and friendly access menus. You can add bookmarks, copy text to Word files, and conduct simple and advanced search.  Open the application:  Opening Oriata takes too long. Therefore, we have added a way to shorten the loading time.  After you have pressed the Oriata icon, an opening screen will appear with the caption “Please wait. Application loading”. Wait for 2­3 seconds and then press the home key. Now, press on the Oriata icon again. Another option of doing this is pressing the “Background Applications” icon. This icon is a square with a “%” sign at the top of the screen. Press this button and then press “Back” (a button on the left hand side of the screen).

 ­ Enter the book database.   ­ recent books, daily study and bookmarks.  

 ­ Search the Oriata book database (it is recommended not to search the entire database, but to only search specific books or sub­categories. as creating a large index takes time). In order to go to the Oriata main menu, press Menu>Home page.  Example: In order to open Exodus chapter 2, with Rashi, open the book database>Bible>Torah>Exodus>Chapter 2. To add commentary by Rashi, press Menu>Commentary>Rashi>OK. To go to the next chapter, swipe your finger from the left hand side of the screen to the right hand side or vice versa.  To search, press Menu>Home Screen>Search>Choose in which you want to search>enter your keywords at the top of the screen. After search is completed the application will present you with all the places in which the words you have supplied were found. To go to one of those places, you must press it.   Perek Shira Use: An application that includes different prayers such as: Perek Shira, Tikun Klali, Nishmat Kol Hai, Tfilat Hashla, etc.  Sfirat Haomer Use: A reminder of Sfirat Haomer which operates daily and automatically right after sun down.  Shmirat Lashon Use: An application or the studying of the Shmirat Lashon book.   Chumash with Teamim (Tikun Sfarim) Use: An application for studying how to read with Teamim, like in the Tikun Sfarim.  Shulchan Aruch Orach Haim with Mishnah B’rurah and Biur Halacha Use: Mishnah Brurah application. Choose a Halacha and then a Siman. To open a Mishnah Brurah, click on the letters of the small Siman and the Halacha Brurah will open at the bottom. The Shulchan Aruch is scrollable using the top scrollbar, while the Mishnah Brurah is scrollable using the bottom scrollbar. To move to another Siman, press Menu>Go to Siman.  Abridged Shulchan Aruch Use: An application for studying the abridged Shulchan Aruch

ezPDF Reader Use: A sophisticated reading application with text search capabilities and the ability to enlarge columns.  

Main Menu ­   ­ A book folder that contains all books in internal memory. To change the My docs folder, press Home>Change default folder>Choose the desired folder. 

 ­ Books that were recently opened.  

 ­ Every book in memory.  Enlarge column ­ Double tap on a column to enlarge it to the entire screen. Double tap again to go back to the previous view.   Search ­ 1. Press the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left corner.  2. At the top line, insert the word you wish to search and press OK. 3. Words found will be in bold. On the bottom right you will find the page number for your search results and on the bottom left how many pages were found containing your search parameters.  Copy ­ Press and hold on the position in which you wish to start copying and then swipe to the desired location to mark the entire section you wish to copy. Press Copy and paste at the desired application.   Orion Books open automatically using Orion. This application opens books and flips pages in high speed. Highlighting and comments are not available. Use: This application opens photocopied books (PDF and DJVU) directly from the file explorer. It is very convenient for regular books. For exceptionally big books or for books with several columns per page, it is recommended to use ezPDF Reader or Adobe Reader. Flip pages: To go to the next page ­ press the lower right corner.  To go to the previous page ­ press the top right corner. To go to a specific page ­ press the lower left corner. Cut margins ­ press the top left corner of the screen. Press and hold on +/­ to zoom in or out by 10%.   Adobe Reader Use: This application opens PDF files (photocopied books) with the ability to highlight text and add comments. They changes you have applied to the document are also visible on your computer and in other applications.   Main Menu: Recents ­ Recently opened documents.

Documents ­  All documents on device. In this menu you can either go through all documents together (All PDFs) or divided into their respective folders using Folder View.  Editing and Sharing: Press anywhere on a document to open additional options.  Scrolling options ­ Continuous: Scroll regularly from top to bottom. Single Page ­ Scroll from left to right. Highlighting and adding comments: press Add Comments>press the place in the document where you want the comment to appear>Save comment by pressing Save. Press T>drag your finger on the lines you wish to highlight. Press T>drag your finger on the lines you wish to highlight. 

Press  >drag your finger on the lines you wish to highlight.  Share document ­ You can send a document via Gmail or AquaMail, send to printer via PrinterShare, or upload to the cloud using Drive.  Search ­ Search the documents that have a text layer. Enlarge a column to the size of a full size document by double clicking on it.  Search Text Use: An advanced application for searching within several documents in one folder.  

 In this example, a full stop represents a character, regardless which and a string between 1­20 of these characters. The question mark represents a character that either does or does not exist on the right of the searched value, comprised of any character for the hebrew alphabet. after this value, the added value עידית is given, thus the search result brings up two results from the Talmud which have the value בעל חוב with letters before it or between this value and the value עידית.  Many other search options exist, and are elaborated in the “advanced search guide”. 

 ­ Allows you to choose the folders in which a search will be conducted. In order to choose a folder press and hold on it. Press and hold to remove a selected folder as well.  

 ­ Determines which file types should be searched. Here, the preferred file type is txt. 

 ­ Determines the use of regular expressions, such as full stop. It tells the application to search the existence or non­existence of any character in its stead.   When you press Search, the text you have searched in opens up and at the top row you will see the books title.

Sidur Use: A convenient Sidur application with many options. Choose style ­ You can choose between Ashkenazi and Sephardi styles. You can also do so in Settings>Default. Settings ­ Choose a city for the day’s time. You can also censor the Hashem’s name here. Automatic prayer style change according to date. For example, Ya’ale Veyavo in ר”ח and Meshiv Ruah in the winter, etc. Day’s time ­ Times and daily page.  Tamnidur Use: Sidur application for a Teimani Baladi style according to the Tacalel Sidur.  AnkiDroid Use: A memorization application using cards. You can prepare a new deck or add a prepared deck from another source.  Calendar and Tasks Simple Calendar Use: A Hebrew and Gregorian calendar with holidays. ­+m ­ goes up or down one month. ­+Y ­ goes up or down one day.  Hebrew Calendar Use: A calendar application with Hebrew dates, religious events and task planning. Times and calendar properties ­ Press the Gregorian or Hebrew year on the top left of the screen to choose from a monthly, weekly or daily Hebrew or Gregorian calendar setup. You can also choose Agenda, which shows only the tasks, events, holidays and other religious dates saved in the calendar.  Create task ­ Press on the day in which you wish to create a task>Menu>New Task>fill in the needed data>Press OK.  Create a task at a specific date ­ Press Menu>Go To>Change the date to the date you wish to create the task in>Press Yes>Menu>New Event. After you have finished filling the needed information, press Close. If you wish to return to the current date, press Menu>Today.  Smart Calendar Use: A sophisticated calendar and task manager with many possibilities. In order to to add a memo to a certain date, press and hold on that date and in the pop­up menu press New. A tab will open that will allow you to add a memo for that day. To look at a specific day and it's memos, double click on the desired day.

Maintenance Applications Factory Reset Use: Return a specific application or the entire device to its’ initial stage in case of a malfunction. Restore application ­ Press on the application you wish to restore>press Restore (on the bottom). If the restored application is a system application, the device needs to be reset.  Restore device ­ Press Menu>Select>All>Backups>Restore. The device will now take 20 minutes for this process to fully work. Do not use the device in this time. After the device has finished restoring, reset the device.  Total Commander Use: An advanced file explorer application, designed for those who are already familiar with the device. When you open the application, the following options will appear: Memory card ­ the device internal memory (8 GB). Memory card 2 ­ an external memory card. A Micro SD card that can be added to the device and contains up to 32 GB. Documents ­ Here you will find the documents that we added to the device. We have connected this option to the document folder in the device’s internal memory. However, you can change that and apply this option to any location you wish. To do so, press and hold on the Documents logo>Change Location. Here you can change the name of this option and choose the location to which it refer.  System Files ­ A folder containing the device’s system files. It is best not to touch these files as changing them cause malfunctions to the device.  Bookmarks ­ Here you can view folders that you have added to the bookmarks list. We have already put two folders here: the Incoming Files folder contains files downloaded to the device, from Hebrew Books or Google Drive, for example. The Kol Halashon Lessons folder contains files that you have downloaded through the Kol Halashon application. In order to add new bookmarks, press Add Bookmark.  Installed Applications ­ Here you can see the applications that are installed in the device. Here you can also delete application data. After deleting data, the application will open as if it was the first time you have used it.  Add Add­ons ­ Not relevant.  

 ­ Choose all files in the current folder. In the pop­up window press Choose in order to copy, paste or delete. 

­ Copy/Paste marked files. In order to mark a file, press its’ symbol.

 ­ Compress marked files.

 ­ Change the order in which items and folders are sorted. 

 ­ Add more options (advanced).  After pressing Menu, the following options will appear: Search ­ Conduct a search in the current folder. If you wish to search in Hebrew, press Unicode>insert the word you wish to search in the rectangle under the words “look for”>press Search. The application searches file names and not their contents. If you wish to search within a text file, insert the word you wish to search under the words “text contents.  Bookmarks ­ Here you can view folders that you have added to the bookmarks list. We have already put two folders here: the Incoming Files folder contains files downloaded to the device, from Hebrew Books or Google Drive, for example. The Kol Halashon Lessons folder contains files that you have downloaded through the Kol Halashon application. In order to add new bookmarks, press Add Bookmark.  History ­ This option presents the recently opened folders.  Settings­ Application settings. It is recommended not to change these.  New Folder ­ To create a new folder, press the rectangle and insert the desired folder name.  Exit ­ Exit the application.  This application has two work screens. To move between these screens swipe your fingers from left to right or from right to left.  Time Clock Use:An application for calculating and  registering work hours.  Fora Dictionary Use: This is a dictionary application which translates words from within a given text. This application is available in the Daf Aruch application and in the Orion application, in books that have text layers. Instructions: Press and hold on the word you wish to translate. If the application cannot translate the given word, use Fuzzy search.  Translate Intent Use: An application for complete sentence translation. This application needs a working internet connection to translate.

 How to translate ­ 1. Write the sentence you wish to translate at the top row. 2, Choose the language to which you wish to translate (lw for Hebrew, ru for Russian and yi for Yiddish). 3. You can share the translation (via e­mail) by pressing Menu>Share and the choose the desired sharing application.   Font Maximizer Use: This application magnifies the font in any application by up to 130%. Maximize and minimize font: Change font to original default size ­ Press the rounded arrow>OK. Magnify font size ­ Move the cube (next to AAA) to the right>Press V>Apply.  Big Font Pro Use: This application magnifies the font in any application by up to double it’s original size. Maximize and minimize font: After maximizing to 130%, some menus might not appear in full. Therefore, it is important that you return the font size to it’s default before using this application.  Total Booster Use: This application deletes RAM and Cache memory in order to speed up the device. Clean RAM memory ­ Press RAM Booster>Total Boost. This feature closes all open applications, helps save battery power and speeds up the device.  Clean Cache Memory ­ Press Memory Cleaner>Clean>Clean.  Smart Task Switcher Use: This application allows you to skip between windows of recently opened applications. 

Press   and choose one of the applications.  Screenshot Ultimate Use: This application takes screenshots of your device. Take a screenshot: 1. Open the application and press Back. In the window that opens press Running>Keep. 2. Open the screen you wish to take a screenshot of. 3. Press the camera icon in the top left corner. 4. The screenshot is saved in the  Screenshot folder in your memory. 5. To close the application, open it again>Press Back and  in the opened window press Stop.  King Kong Lock Use: This application locks your device, or specific applications, folders and/or files. To lock applications: 1. insert the password (the default password is 1234). 2. press Application in the lefthand side>press App Lock (a circular icon). 3. Press Applications on the righthand side>Press on the desired application. Once the application is locked you can see a lock on the

righthand side. To open a lock in a certain application press on the application icon and the lock will open.  In order to lock the device press on the Boox Buki application.  Lock folders: 1. inset the password. 2. Press Utility Tools on the righthand side>press File Lock (folder icon). 3. Press the square on the right of the folders or files you wish to lock>Press Encryption (A closed lock symbol, second on the right.). 4. Wait a few minutes depending on the size of the folder or file in question. When a window opens press Yes. To unlock, mark the locked files or folders in question and press Decryption (an open lock icon, first on the right).  

Activate Lock ­ In order for the lock to work, it needs to be turned on. 1. Press  >Settings. 2. Press Enable AppLock>On (When On, the button color changes to a darker shade of grey).  

Change Password ­ 1. Press  >Settings. 2. Press Set Password and insert new password. 3. Insert the new password again in all spaces in the following opened window and press OK.  Android Status Use: This application presents a detailed system status report, including available memory, processor data, etc.   Contact List, Notes, and Management Applications Cash Organizer Use: A sophisticated account management application, similar to IOU.  IOU Use: A debt management application. Excellent for managing benefit societies. Pressing on the “They Owe” button on the top left will give you access to categories within the application: Pressing on “They Owe” will present those who owe you money. Pressing on “I Owe” will present those who you owe money to. Pressing on “People” will present all contacts in the application, both those who owe and those you owe to. To add a new person into a given category ­ Press + (add debt) on the top middle. 4 circles with text rectangle will appear. Pressing the top left circle (their debt) inserts the new person into the “They Owe” database. Pressing the top right circle (my debt) inserts the new person into the “I Owe” database. Pressing the bottom left circle (money) inserts the debt\credit into the “Money” category. Pressing the bottom right circle (thing) inserts the debt\credit as an object rather than money. In the first row (Initial Amount) insert the amount of debt\credit. On the right you can choose the debt\credit currency (if the option “money” was chosen). Later on, we will see how to add new currencies to the application.

On the second row titled Comments, you can add comments to debt\credit. On the third row titled Contacts, you can add the name of the debt\credit holder. Pressing the top right + icon will let you determine the schedule for returning or receiving debt\credit. To add day, month or year press +. To subtract, press ­. To confirm Press Set, and to cancel press Cancel.   Pressing the middle + icon will allow you to choose a time for creating the debt\credit. As a default the application assumes that the time of creation is the time of debt\credit, as it is defined as Now.  To save, press Save on the bottom right. To cancel, press Revert on the bottom left. Debts\credits are sorted alphabetically according to debt\credit holder name. After creating a debt\credit, you can also create a discharge from debt. Go to the debt in question>Press + (add payment). Here, you will see three circles and three text boxes. Decrease Debt Amount ­ Picking this top circle allows you to decrease the amount of debt\credit. Increase Debt Amount ­ Picking this middle circle allows you to increase the amount of debt\credit. Don’t Change Debt Amount ­ Picking this bottom circle allows you to not change the amount of debt\credit.  In the top text box type the amount of money loaned or redeemed. In the second text box you can type whatever comments you might have. In the third text box, you can set a date by pressing on the arrow to the right, or by typing the date manually in the box itself. To save, press Save (bottom right). To cancel, press Revert (bottom left). Loan amount will be updated automatically according to the amount redeemed. total amount is presented on the top right.  Menu ­ Press on Menu for more options: Sort Order ­ On the top left. This option allows you to change the order of values from a­z to z­a. Backup ­ On the bottom left. This option allows you to backup your data. Lock ­ On the top middle ­ after creating a password, use this option to lock the application with a password. Restore ­ On the bottom middle. After backup, you can return to a previous backup using this option. Export CSV ­ On the top right. This option allows you to export your data to an Excel compatible file.  Settings ­ On the bottom right. This option allows you to change application settings: Add Currency ­ Press Settings>Custom Currency>Type currency name>Press OK>Press Default Currency>Choose Custom.

 Create password ­ Press Settings>Set Password>Type a password>Press OK. To remove password, go to Settings>Remove password.   Memento Database Use: A convenient application for building a personal database (similar to Access), with contacts, calendar, tasks, book collection, business information etc.  MobiCalc Use: A convenient calculator application.  Financisto Use: An advanced bookkeeping application with many possibilities.  Contacts Use: A contact list application which synchronizes with Gmail. Press Menu to insert a new contact person or to synchronize with Gmail.  Smart List Use: A phone number directory application with phone numbers in Lakewood, Borough Park, Flatbush, Williamsburg, Monsey, Qiryat Yoel, Rockaway, Cleveland, Chicago and Montreal.  Income and Expenses Use: A friendly and advanced application for managing your incomes and expenses.  Phone Number Search Use: This application allows you to search both business and personal phone numbers in Israel. This application requires internet connectivity.   Download Applications Hebrewbooks.org Mobile (Alpha) Use: This application offers approximately 50,000 holy books from the Hebrew Books website for immediate download to your device. This application requires internet connectivity. Downloaded books appear in the chosen folder. Books can be downloaded from a PC and added to the included SD card in your device.  Kol Halashon Kiosk Use: This application offers approximately 400,000 Torah lessons in several languages with the option of downloading these lessons to your device. This application requires internet connectivity. Download location: Go to Total Commander>Bookmarks>Kol Halashon lessons.

 Auxiliary Applications Theory Studies Use: This application helps prepare for the driving theory test.  Gematria Calculator Use: A gematria calculator application.  Midot Bahalacha Use: A Midot Bahalacha application.  PDF Builder Use: In the main screen, press PDF TOOLS>Extract Parts (second from the top in the middle column). Press + icon in the top right corner>Press on the triangle. Choose a location. From the list of folders, choose the book from which you wish to extract specific pages to a new PDF file.  Wait for up to one minute in large files. In the top row choose the first page, and in the bottom row choose the last. You can also choose pages through Page Numbers. If you wish to extract other pages except for the range you have defined, press Add Extractor. To save, press on the disk icon at the top right>name the new file>Mark V at the bottom if you wish that all pages will be in the same PDF file>Press Save and wait for up to 30 seconds. The new file will be saved in pdfbuilder/tools.  Screenshots can also be turned into PDF files. In the main screen choose PDf Printer>Choose the appropriate page profile (for example, 1:1)>Press + in the next screen>Choose the photos you wish to include in the new PDF file.  Easy File Split and Join Use: A file division application for files such as MP3 and TXT which either divides or attach files.   MP3 Cutter Use: An audio editing application for files such as MP3. You can extract certain parts from a lesson or add parts from a different lesson.  Accessories and Expansions External Hard Drive and Flash Drive (Disk On Key) Adapter Use: An adapter that connects an external memory drive to the Boox Buki and can transfer files to and from the Boox Buki for different purposes, such as backup.
