Lessons For Life #1
• Todd is 16, 10 dives completed• Had a mild dive profile:– 4 dives, max 50 feet, max 35 minutes with surface
intervals• Next morning, had aches and pains, numbness• Didn’t seek treatment, had a rest day, then
flew home (42 hours after last dive)• Pain increased
Lessons For Life #1
• In flight, cabin pressurized to about 6000 ft• Accelerated the symptoms• Treated in a chamber, 2x, symptoms improved,
not completely resolved• Fully resolved over the following week

Lessons For Life #2
• Lobster divers – Rex was 27, diving for 5 years off and on, didn’t bother with a logbook
• Fit and strong, no health issues• Diving just after midnight, private boat• Rex’s first night dive, he didn’t tell anyone that• Entered water, couldn’t stay afloat, forgot to
add air to BCD
Lessons For Life #2
• Other divers descended “to get to the bugs first” and presumed Rex was already down there
• Other divers descended, scattered to find lobsters
• After 45 minutes, returned to the boat, no Rex• Found him unconscious at 30 feet, reg out• Rex drowned• http://www.scubadiving.com/lobster-hunting-night-dive-gone-wrong
