Dr. Stanley also completed a fellowship in adult and pedi- atric spine surgery at the Rocky Mountain Spine Clinic in Denver. He practices spine surgery for Denver-Vail Orthopedics and is actively involved in research. Theresa Hernández, PhD Dr. Hernández is a well-established expert in the field of traumatic brain injury (TBI). For over two decades she has studied the ways in which the brain’s recovery from injury can be enhanced or impeded. Dr. Hernández has also been instrumental in passing Colorado State legislation leading to the Colorado TBI Trust Fund, which provides funding for services to individuals with TBI. Sanjay Misra, M.D. Dr. Misra is an Australian neurosurgeon and spine surgeon. During his career he has taught, done fellowships and been on the faculty at universities in Arkansas, Sydney, Colorado and Texas. Dr. Misra is an advisor for various national regulatory institutions and instructor for the American College of Surgeons. Alexander Mason, M.D. Dr. Mason received his MD from Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, completed his resi- dency at the Cleveland Clinic Founda- tion with interests in complex and minimally invasive spine, neuro-oncology and surgical epilepsy. His fellowship was in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at Emory University. Gregg Dickerson, M.D. Dr. Dickerson graduated from the Indiana School of Medicine in 1984 and completed his residency in radiation oncology at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He has extensive CyberKnife experience, having started the 12th CyberKnife center in the country. Dr. Dickerson serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at St. Louis University School of Medicine. Shay Bess, M.D. Dr. Bess is a Colorado native who returns to Colorado after working as an attending surgeon for the San Diego Center for Spinal Disorders and the University of Utah where he was an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Bess has extensive experience in spinal surgery including adult and pediatric scoliosis, spine deformity, spinal trauma, and cervical spine disorders. Dr. Zacharias received his MD from the University of Mississippi. His current research activities involveattempts to stimulate an immune system assault on tumor cells with injections of a variant of epidermal growth factor receptor protein. Dr. Villavicencio graduated from Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA in 1995 and completed a neurosurgical residency at Duke University and specialty orthopedic spine surgery fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is one of only a handful of surgeons in the country with dual neurosurgery and orthopedic spine training.

Dr. Villavicencio is the Founder and Chairman of the Board for the Justin Parker Neurological Institute. Dr. Villavicencio published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and presented hun-dreds of abstracts at national and international neurosurgical meet-ings. Dr. Villavicencio is principle investigator for several ongoing U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) IDE (Investigational Device Exemption) prospective random-ized trials.

Dear Colleague:

We would like to extend this invitation to the upcoming symposium CurrentTechniquesintheTreatmentofCranialandSpinalDisorders, which is organized by Justin Parker Neurological Institute (JPNI) and Boulder Neurosurgical Associates (BNA). This meeting is a one-day intensive educational seminar for anyone involved in the care of neurosurgical or orthopaedic spine patients. This includes surgeons, primary care physicians, interventional physiatrists, chiropractors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, and others interested in the subject. The most innovative technologies and the latest evidence-based clinical guidelines in the care of cranial and spinal disorders will be presented.

Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

· Describe a number of new treatments and innovative technologies that are available for the management of spinal and cranial disorders · Discuss recommendations for treatment of spinal and cranial disorders based on the latest evidence-based clinical practice guidelines· Recognize the importance of a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to the management of spinal and cranial disorders · Discuss the issues specific for everyday practice in order to improve clinical management of cranial and spinal disorders

Dr. Grossman is the founder and director of the Methodist Neurological Institute and Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Methodist Hospital, Houston. Dr. Grossman’s presentation will discuss new therapies for spinal cord injury. In the past decade, Dr. Grossman has organized a network of hospitals in North America to test new therapies for spinal cord injury, funded by the Christopher Reeve Foundation and the Department of Defense. Dr. Grossman will also share his account of the events in Trauma Room 1 at Parkland Hospital. Dr. Grossman and Dr. Kemp Clark were the two neurosurgeons who examined President Kennedy in Trauma Room #1 at Parkland Hospital.

Robert G. Grossman, MDDr. Linovitz has extensive clinical and research experience. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of California, San Diego and spinal surgery fellowship at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, England. Dr. Linovitz previously limited his practice exclusively to treating problems of the spine. In December of 2004 he discontinued his clinical practice and devoted his time to research. Dr. Linovitz is currently the Medical Director of Research and Education at CORE Orthopaedics. Dr. Linovitz’s clinical research is predominantly in the area of adult allogeneic stem cells for spinal fusion and fracture repair.
