A regular meeting of the Board of Education was held this day in the Bound Brook High School Cafeteria. The order of business and
agenda for the meeting are:

II. OPEN PUBLIC MEETING STATEMENT
The New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law was enacted to insure the right of the public to have advance notice of and to
attend the meetings of public bodies at which time any business affecting their interests is discussed and acted upon. In accordance
with the provisions of this act and Board of Education Policy 0162, the Board of Education of the Borough of Bound Brook has
caused notice of this meeting to be posted in the Board Office and at Bound Brook High School, and mailed or faxed to the Courier
News, Bound Brook Borough Clerk, South Bound Brook Board of Education, and any person who has requested individual notice and
paid the required fee.

Health Lessons. Funded by the Department of Health, CJFHC is commissioned to provide cost-free trainings that will foster
knowledge and awareness on a variety of topics related to addiction. CJFHC customizes these trainings to meet the many diverse
needs of your student populations as well as the time constraints of schedules. Ms. Cervelli will present lessons to increase knowledge
and awareness on addiction topics throughout the school year in high school health classes.

RESOLVED, the Bound Brook Board of Education accepts the donation of approximately 150 dictionaries to 3rd grade students from
the Bound Brook Elks Lodge #1388.
9/24/18-9 Approve Fundraisers – Community Middle School
RESOLVED, the Bound Brook Board of Education approves the following fundraisers for the Community Middle School:
Bake Sale - During Back to School Night on September 25th from 6:45-8:15pm, students will be hosting a bake sale. The
proceeds will be used for the yearbook.
Penny Wars - 8th grade students vs. 7th grade students. All donations from December 17th through December 21th will be
added to see which grade raised the most money, pennies and dollar bills are positives and silver coins are negatives. The
proceeds will be used for the yearbook.
9/24/18-10 Athletic Fields Maintenance Building at LaMonte Field – Project No. 0490-020-19-1000
RESOLVED, the Bound Brook Board of Education approves the architect’s drawings and submission of the DOE application for
approval of the Athletic Fields Maintenance Building at LaMonte Field Project No. 0490-020-19-1000 at a cost of approximately
$420,750.

H. EDUCATION RESOLUTIONS – ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS
9/24/18-19 Middle Earth Lunchtime Mentoring Program
RESOLVED, the Bound Brook Board of Education approves Middle Earth’s Lunchtime Mentoring Program. The program offers
positive role models to at-risk youth and addresses multiple needs of the youth through supportive services. The program offers
informal counseling, case management, advocacy, outreach, assistance with mental health issues, socialization, life skills, and will
target specific behavioral and social issues. These services will take place within the schools during lunch time (or other appropriate
school time periods). The program is run by the staff of Middle Earth and referrals to the program will be accepted from the school
guidance department. The program will take place October 2018-May 2019 in Community, Smalley, and Lafayette Schools.
The motion was made by Ms. Morris and a second by Mr. Zupko to approve items #14 through #19. Ms. Conner did not participate in
roll call vote. Affirmed with a roll call vote.

XI. NEW BUSINESS
Ms. DeFazio requested we look into the volume of the speakers at the high school football field. Dr. Gallagher will check
with Mr. Steele related to the volume of the speakers at the high school football field.
XII. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR DISCUSSION
The house next to high school is up for sale, are we placing an inquiry in to purchase. Dr. Gallagher stated he has placed in
inquiries in the past but the sale price for the house would not make fiscal sense for the district at this time.
