Deputy Principal - Miss Margaret Gordon Congratulations to all of the Year 3 & 5 students who participated in NAPLAN. You were all amazing and should be proud of your efforts. Congratulations to the students who won an award for their art work at the Bourke Show. It was lovely seeing the Bourke Public School display and all of the students work. Please remember that students should be attending school every day. The school’s target is 93%. If students wish to attend the Gold Coast excursion at the end of the year they need to have 100% attendance. Congratulations to the 66 students who attended the Movie afternoon last week. I enjoyed spending the afternoon with you eating popcorn and watching Moana on the big screen. The boys and girls have been busy training for The Outback Challenge which will be held on Tuesday 6 th June at Davison Oval. Teams will be selected later in the term. You were all amazing and should be proud of your efforts. Congratulations to the

students who won an award for their art work at the Bourke Show. It was lovely

seeing the Bourke Public School display and all of the students work. Please

remember that students should be attending school every day. The school’s target is

Stage 1 AP- Miss Duiz Welcome to Week 4, wow this term is flying by so quickly! I hope all the Mother’s enjoyed Mother’s Day yesterday and that you all loved your cards and gifts from your child. Remember to bring your home readers back every couple of days and when you read for 25 nights you will receive a certificate at Monday assembly.

Warrumbungle Excursion

Early Stage 1 AP- Miss Mowbray Week 4, already! It is wonderful to see Kindergarten students receiving Home Reader awards at assembly on Mondays. Don’t forget to keep bringing in your home reader folder so you can collect your awards. Kinder attendance has been wonderful so far this term! Let’s keep it up, remember we have our Zoo day at the end of term for all students who have had less than 3 days absent this term! Have a wonderful week! KF- Miss Finch

I hope all mothers had an enjoyable day and loved their presents. This week in English we will continue to look at more Aaron Blabey books for our author study and produce ‘proud’ writing. In Maths this week KF are looking at grouping and sharing objects. Remember ‘It’s Not Okay to be Away’, let’s try and get 100% and win that Attendance cup.

Welcome to week 4! This week we will begin writing about another Fairytale in English. We will be looking at Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In Maths we will be learning about three dimensional shapes. For Drama this week the students will be breaking down different emotions and explaining how they might look through improvisation. Have a great week!

KM- Miss Mowbray This week in English, KM will be publishing our writing about the text “I Need a Hug” by Aaron Blabey. In Maths, we will be focusing on groups of objects and time. For our Geography unit in the coming weeks, KM students will need to bring in a photo of the environment they live in. If you could please send in a photo of your child’s house or their favourite place that would be greatly appreciated.

1C- Miss Cook

Great effort to all of 1C on their Mother’s day performance at the infants assembly. In English this week, we are looking at Cinderella and creating our own narratives. In maths, we are building three dimensional shapes. We are looking at internal body parts in PDH. Have great week everyone

3H- Miss Heaney Well done to all Year 5 students on

2D- Miss Dorrington I hope everyone had a terrific time at the show on the weekend. It was lovely seeing so much of our students work on display. This week we are looking at the book ‘Cyclone’ by Jackie French. This is a wonderful book that tells the story of a family experiencing Cyclone Tracey. The English unit will allow us to discuss personification and descriptive language. In Maths we will study subtraction and addition as well as number patterns.

3B- Miss Buckley Welcome to week 4! Well done to all of the Year 5 students who completed their NAPLAN assessments last week. You should be proud of your amazing efforts. This week, 3B will be finishing off our Banyan Tree artworks which are the national tree of India. In English we will be learning all about the Chinese New Year and the special events that happen during the celebration. Have a top week!

For Science we will be looking at what

types of materials would ‘soak, leak or

repel’. 2B have been learning about

‘Happy, Healthy and Safe’ for PDH which

involves keeping a healthy and active

2G- Miss Griffiths I would like to send a challenge out to 2G for the next fortnight. As discussed with the class today, if you come everyday (on time) you will receive a class reward. Students can have a vote between milkshakes and chips & gravy. Let’s try hard 2G and have all students receive this. I will be out and about tomorrow visiting parents and care givers about Student’s progress.

3-6B- Ms Bond Welcome to our new students who have settled into our routine quickly. We have had a very busy week. We had our first PCE visit at the PCYC where we participated in team building activities. We had a cook up with Clontarf at Bourke High School. We cooked Chicken Curry and we all ate it. This week we will spend one day fishing at the river. We are all excited to try and catch a fish. Let’s see who catches the first fish! Keep smiling

Miss Bartley & Mrs Roe When kids hear and use the words ‘big’ and ‘little’ they are learning about size.

• Talk about the things you see. “Look at that big cow with her little calf!” • Play finding games with kids. “Can you find a big truck and a little car?” • Talk to kids about size. “You can carry the little one.” • Talk about size while you are out in the bush. “We need to find some big sticks for the fire.”

K-3W - Mrs Wood Welcome to Week 4. The countdown is really on now. Only one more week until our excursion to Dubbo! Please bring in your note and money if you have not done so already. We are enjoying learning about lots of different animals in preparation for our visit to Dubbo zoo. We have been looking at movement in drama, exploring patterns and shapes in maths and investigating weather in science. Keep up the great work

2-6N- Miss Nixon Welcome to week 4! Last week 2-6N

loved learning about peacocks, and

they can’t wait to see them on the

Dubbo excursion! They also created

artworks about the animals to decorate

the classroom. 2-6N enjoyed listening

to stories about ‘Little Red Riding

Hood.’ They particularly enjoyed

hearing about the Wolf’s side of the

story. The class wrote excellent

persuasive texts and discussed point of view. This week we are cooking!
