The Woven Sep 29thAn exhibition of sculptures; skulls and bones drawn in three dimensions, created by weaving steel wire into intricate, delicate designs. The harsh material belies the suppleness of natural forms, creating dark and brooding images. These pieces are a development of Jakes work with metal, focusing on the detail and subtlety of a small scale. His intention is to create pieces that question the material they are made with, that evoke softness where there should be strength, and strength where there should be fragility.’Doors open at 7pm. THANK YOUWithout you this would not be possible...

I would like to take this final page to specifically thank all of the creatives individuals and organisations, that in such a short period of time (6 weeks) have pulled together what can only be described as an amazing array of events. Such a repertoire of creativity that not only showcases Bournemouth’s diverse arts and cultural offering but also emphasizes the ability the creative arts have in illustrating the importance we put on self expression, outward thinking and our community.

The main aim for the Bournemouth Emerging Art Fringe is to give a platform for the creative community to showcase their work, open a dialogue for the public to engage with their ideas, talents and interests. These exhibitions, events and workshops form the building blocks needed to stimulate the creative industries in the area and generate substantial economic benefit.

A special thanks has to go out to Carol Maund and the Arts Bournemouth Team. Even with the stresses of running the Arts by the Sea Festival they have always found time to support the Fringe Festival, their hard work has made it happen. Another important person who’s dedication has been instrumental in the organisation of the Fringe Festival is Alifia Ikrami, tirelessly working to make sure everything has been done on time. And finally a big shout out has to go to every venue supporting the fringe. It is your generosity providing your spaces for the many different events that allows the creative arts to take center stage in Bournemouth for 17 days.

THANK YOU // 43

Thank you Ashley Peevor Fringe Festival Coordinator
